Politeness is still polite, but if someone use this in wrong situation, it’ll become so fake

In Netherlands it may be polite in certain situations to understate your thoughts. Saying "I don't really like [offered drink]" instead of "I think that's disgusting" for example. But outright dishonesty is greatly frowned upon.

This is actually very common to any society or individual who possess a conspicuous amount of civility. Even in the Philippines. Filipinos always smile and hospitable, always say 'PO and OPO', sometimes kiss your hands, bow their heads and taking a knee but these don't automatically translate to being truthful. Naughty people are the only creatures who are truthful. Too polite is fake.

I recently noticed that in japan after 1 yr and why some people are not replaying email, Line msg,sms etc. So most the time people outside are in Tatemae mode and very had to build an real relationship.

Love the straight up "I don't really care" at the end. Haha. I think everyone's interpretation of "Fakeness" is a very personalized experience because people act differently towards others depending on various factors like physical attractiveness, potential business opportunities, or some other form of personal gain, etc... Working of course, for, or against each person. Tatemae definitely makes the "friend making" process take much longer than necessary. Your video really helps one to understand the Tokyo way (compared to the rest of the world) much more clearly. Thanks for that brah.

Honesty, when my first japan trip is really incredible and awesome, i was so shocked that they are so powerful polite people at airport, shopping and everywhere. I feel so ease and bow and smile to them. Its really nice there because they got me calm down so smooth since i got stress in my country all day that why i was able to relax myself and make me feel the freedom. I love japan very deeply.

In my experience, I have had nothing but positive experiences when doing business and contract negotiations with Japanese firms. I don't recall any negative experiences in trips to Japan for business. And for the most part, any self-respecting Japanese restaurants have always proven to have good customer service. Where money-earning is concerned and actions are bound by contracts, I don't worry about Japanese people screwing me over.
That being said, in any other case I would be hesitant to trust them or believe everything they say without fact-checking. As a country, especially with the current government I unfortunately see a rise of Japan's equivalent of "right-wingers" with extreme and obsolete views towards their neighbors. They are a prideful bunch and do not hesitate to do whatever it takes to keep up the image of a polite, docile, gentle country.

Japanese "politeness" or "tatemae" is just a pitiful excuse for Japanese people to be two faced and flakey to outsiders or "Gaijin". No excuses for it in the modern world. Japan needs to get with the times. Not being rude just being real
