I used my Swatch Irony as a beater watch. Went Skydiving with it, survived 2 Motorbike crashes (or rather one high sider and a slide). It‘s still running. Take that RM!
If you survived.. then the watch most likely would have too. Now If your parachute didn't open, and you survived... that's a story I want to hear about.
Now here's another test, try and have a sky diving without your parachute deployed, or have 2 more motorcycle crashes but it's you who take the brunt of the impact. see which one can still work after you and the watch hit the ground.
Richard Mille is like the higher end invicta. You need some confidence to wear them. They are not really like by a lot of watch collectors. It is niche in already niche hobby. I’m like whatever with Richard Mille and invicta. Let people be into whatever they into. I’m into some niche things too like baseball, boxing, and watches. If I were super rich, I wouldnt get a RM for sporty things due to it is hard to read the time. This is why I will never get a Jacob&Co too. I still use watches as watches. I’ll stealth weather it and get a high end G Shock Square.That is also really niche.

Vanadium is an additive to many general purpose steel's, so it's just another weird name to make it sound hi-tech - surprised they didn't say it includes fero-silicon as well.
There are some pretty inexpensive knife steels that have vanadium, but to rich people that don’t know any better they may think they’re getting something rare.
Someone looking at this watch is certainly not looking for the time. Even if the watch is +/-2s per day accuracy, reading the time would be closer to +/- 2 minutes. I would imagine lots of dogs mistake this for a chew toy.
That’s because you never saw them right? Pictures are flat, so your binocular vision is of no use, and light reflections do not play. In reality - RMs are very legible and easy to tell time.
If it’s not as accurate as my US$200 watch with an ETA F06.461 quartz movement supposedly good to within 10 seconds a year I wouldn’t use it. I wouldn’t mind owning such a valuable oddity, but that’s about all.

Also timex watches are specifically singled out as undesirable in the vintage/collectors market, while this limited edition bubble gum is worth more than my house.

Higher end G Shocks (oxymoron that may be) have models with similar layered carbon, and also they have recently released a MR-G square, the MRG-B5000 which is made of 15% vanadium. Admittedly these use lower cost quartz movements, but the materials and the g-forces they can withstand are to be had for many magnitudes cheaper than a RM. Just saying.
I feel like they dont look much more premium and fully deeper brushed finishes would suit them better. Owning both positive and negative resin solar atomic squares they rarely get any wrist time. Depending on the needs they get beaten by smartwatch, mechanical watches or GS SD.
Guys, these podcasts are really nice, but it would be better if the thumbnail showd that it was a podcast video. It's a modern watch, so it's safe to assume that the CAD files for the components and the machine settings will be saved to be used when needed. If there are only 50 units made, then you can consider it just as well as a one-off where no spare parts are available, but are ready to be made on request.
i just fired my casio world timer with a industrial slingshot 620mtrs. the world time function is working fine, as is the stopwatch and calender. damn springbar fell out mind!

Ball speed for a pro may be 160 mph but club head speeds for a touring pro average 113mph according to one source I found. It's all to do with transfer of momentum from a heavier (club head) to lighter (ball) object.
Well, concerning the time it took to make it, may I suggest a chat between you two on the generation long process to make the Spring Drive? I know you alreay talked about, but I think it could work in this format.
g(experienced by a golf ball) = dv/dt, where dv - is the change of velocity, and dt- is the actual time, when the club hits the ball (extremely short time, you see). Thus, the ball's acceleration is that high. At the same time, the watch does not experience such dramatic change of velocity (assuming it stays on the wrist), and the time of this change is much longer. Thus, the requirements to withstand an acceleration, is less stringent. The length of the club plays a marginal role, if any, but interesting try. Cheers.

I assume that the RM is only resistant to 10.000G and not the full 50.000G because most of the shock is absorbed by the golf club, gloves and the body itself. This is a 100% a guess tho.

The golf club gets only 5,000g (at most) of acceleration since its mass is 10x that of the golf ball, so 10,000g shock protection is plenty :)

I assume that the RM is only resistant to 10.000G and not the full 50.000G because most of the shock is absorbed by the golf club, gloves and the body itself.
This is a 100% a guess tho.

Yusaku Maezawa - a Japanese billionaire, owner of few RM's and a guy who took his RM 27-02 to ISS regularly gives a ton of money to random charities and random people. He made his wealth by collecting and selling art. Clearly people who think RM is ugly have a very basic or no taste at all.
I'm guessing that my $40.00 quartz Timex could withstand the force of Bubba Watson's drives at LEAST as well as that RM. And probably no one will rob me for it, either.
