    great video!
only the comment on the bare bulb is a little brief - if you use it backfiring at a white umbrella outside during daytime maybe you don't see too much of a difference to the fresnell head. but when using with a proper softbox that lights from behind through two diffusors there is a big difference to the fresnell head, because the open bulb correctly fills all the softbox. of course, if you never use it that way that might not mean much, but if someone does then the open bulb option is an absolute game changer!

Great video. Can you help me decide what light to buy next for my kit? I own 2 v860ii s, and just ordered a V1 with the AK modifier kit on sale from B&H. I mainly ordered this because it has faster recycle times than the 860ii's, and I wanted to give the modifiers a try, as well as a metal hot shoe base.
I want something a bit more powerful and versatile for portraits. I do not have a studio - so, it would be on-location / traveling. so ease of use and portability matters.
I'm leaning toward the ad300pro. But it's hard to ignore the versatility of the ad200pro. 300 has better recycle times, a little more power (but hardly, real world), and the godox mount, which I think would be useful, as I have 2 Glow Parasnap 36 and 44in modifiers that can take that mount.
But... the 200.... people just love it.
    What do you think?

if you want to compare number of shots and recycle time than you should measure them both at 100 wps. also the ad100 is more in the range of the v1 or v860II.

Nice thanks. You should have talked more about this tint issue, because it is a real problem if you work with several flashes; if it can be fixed with a filter, you reduce the power of the flash as much. The AD100 is not as qualitative and versatile as the AD200 which also allows you to work with a bulb, so much better for homogeneity. AD100 vs AD200 ? AD200 rules by far.

    • @russellbaston974

@@AntonLitvin87 Hi Anton, down on power obviously but much lighter in weight and easier to pack into bags. It does have a very slight green shift which needs about +3 magenta filter if critical matching is required. Bare bulb wise there is a little filter kit AK-R1 which includes a small dome which works ok. There is a bigger AK-R22 diffuser dome which has adapters to fit with a similar spread to the bare bulb but without quite the same contrast as the bare bulb.

@@llREADYll Do you value lightweight or higher power? There are tradeoffs in every purchase, that's why Mercedes offers more than one model. If you are just starting out just pick one and use the heck out of it so that you can understand how it works, and what you like and don't like about it, then after you have mastered it buy a different model that way you have something to compare to and can form your own opinion. Tiger Woods didn't start out with the perfect set of golf clubs but he didn't let that stop him from starting. With that said I would start out with the ad200 and go from there.

No, because when using HSS, depends on your shutter speed, you lose about 2 to 3 stops of light. So I choose ND filters when possible.

Both units are great, indeed the AD200 features double the light power. But again the AD100 pro is smaller, compact and lightweight

May I advise you to go and check AD200 pro recycle time again? The time you gave us is not correct.
ADD 200 pro don't have the same recycle time as ad200. They are different units.

In this video, I never mentioned the original AD200. Anyway the recycle time info is from the original resources. They might be wrong, or your unit is broken.

    • @OmaGhomrawi

I prefer using ND Filters when possible instead of using HSS High speed sync.
Personally I don't prefer HSS because it does not deliver the same amount of power compared to without HSS. So here in this video I wanted to compare both systems fairly.
