  • Super excited to share few thoughts about these new strings from Thomastik-Infeld called Rondo Gold!

Right away I need to confess that Rondo strings are in the top three of my all-time favorite strings so you can imagine my excitement when I heard about the Rondo Gold.
Last week I got a package in the mail from my friends at Connolly Music, the first and only set (for now) in North America. How lucky am I!!!
My first impression was that I was seeing an old friend. They have a lot of the qualities of the Rondo strings which all grew to love and want, but there is a little more there, more sweetness, a warmer shinier sound. As Thomastik-Infeld put it these strings add a golden glow to your performance, something I agree with wholeheartedly.
They are very easy to play, feel great under the fingers, flexible and soft compared to others.
Projection is excellent both in the practice room and even more importantly in the concert hall. Very focused and crisp! The response is quick, fast and reliable
    To sum it up…
    Rondo Gold
    Projection: Excellent
    Color/Depth: Warm, sweet-sounding
Focus/Clarity: Very focused, clean and crisp
    Response: Fast and reliable
Feeling great under the finger: flexible, soft compared to all others, springy quality
The break-in period is fast, maybe a few hours or a day max in my experience.
Thanks for watching! Please give us a like and subscribe to our channel for future reviews and videos.
Many thanks to Thomastik-Infeld and Connolly Music for providing this sample set and to Richard Liukis for filming.

Hello. I think for this video i was using the gold e which is the lower tension out of the two that come with the set. I’d suggest to try both and see what works best for your violin. It’s hard to predict without trying it on. The e will change the sound of the other strings, particularly the G string. Let me know what works for you after your try. Thanks for your comment

How do these compare to the Rondo Strings? They are my current favorite string right now, but I was looking for something on the warmer side. Currently using PI, but I miss the rondo sound so I'm hoping the Rondo Gold will give me that Rondo sounds back but with added warmth.

    • @CristianFatu

Dynamo is broad sounding, Rondo Gold is dark and sizzling sounding. I prefer the set that works best for the instrument I’m playing at a time. Try them both and let me know your impressions for your violin and taste

@@CristianFatuAfter experimenting with both the Rondo Gold and Dynamo strings on my violin, I've come to the conclusion that the Rondo Gold strings suit my instrument better. My violin tends to lean towards the brighter side of the sound spectrum, and while the Dynamo strings initially seemed promising, I found that they produced a slightly more metallic tone.
With the Dynamo strings, the sound opened up even more, but I noticed that the E string sounded a bit unbalanced and sharp to my ear. It lacked the warmth and sweetness that I was looking for in my violin's sound.
In contrast, the Rondo Gold strings have truly enhanced the character of my instrument. Starting with the G string, it produces a rich and resonant tone, providing a solid foundation for my playing. Moving on to the D string, it offers a warm and velvety sound, adding depth and complexity to the music. The A string, with its smooth and mellow tone, complements the other strings perfectly, creating a harmonious blend of sound. Finally, the E string on the Rondo Gold set is clear and bright without being overly sharp, striking a perfect balance with the rest of the strings.
Overall, the Rondo Gold strings have brought out the best in my violin, providing a warm and sweet tone that perfectly suits its natural characteristics. While the Dynamo strings may work well for other instruments, they simply weren't the right fit for mine. I'm hopeful that the Rondo Gold strings will continue to maintain their good tone over time, allowing me to enjoy their beautiful sound for many performances to come.
I am beginner in playing violin excuse my poor playing been learning for 15 months now and Rondo Gold string I use for 9 days here is a song I attempted to play using Rondo Gold

@@kenhuang3820 Thanks for sharing your experience with these strings. You are correct, there isn't a string that will fit all violins. I'm glad the Rondo Gold's worked so well for you. Since they came out they became my favorite strings as well, sounding the best on my fiddles. Cheers!
