Thengal Manor is home to the affluent and illustrious Khongiya Barooah family. Their contribution to Assamese society is immense on economic and cultural front. Some of their properties have been converted into Heritage boutique hotels Thengal Manor being one of these. The very first daily newspaper in Assamese, ‘Dainik Batori’ was launched on 12th August 1935 from this historic place. Located in a village named Jalukonibari, merely 15 km away from the town of Jorhat, it looks regal with a beautiful lawn and swimming pool at the front.
