He’s magic you know. Super Ben Wilson in goal
not bad for a mackem
So 2 things we learnt….
1- Ben Wilson is a lovely man
2- He’s magic you know 🪄
Good to see Wilson on here! PUSB
Hi Ben, I'm an "older" goalkeeper and I've never used vasaline on my gloves in all my years of playing......until this so called summer we had. I was curious at training one evening while it hammered down and I've always thought it was a myth but tried it non the less. I was shocked by how well this worked. I read Shay doing it 25 years ago but never believed it. My understanding is that latex is a porous material. So when it rains or gets wet it allows water to eventually flood the latex and you end up losing grip. Hence why we all carry glove towels to keep our gloves clean and dry. What vasaline does is put a waterproof layer into the latex thus stopping the water flooding the glove. It allows the latex to do the job its designed to do in the wet. I wouldn't necessarily use this method in good conditions but have used it a few times now in poor and it 100% works. Spread the word it really works!!!
ps great point about learning to have the right technique first. Vasaline aids our ability to catch but it isn't a magic substance. If you have poor technique you will struggle regardless of vasaline.
He’s magic, you knowwww, super Ben Wilson in goallll. My goat 🐐
I've said for so long you need to get this man on! "He's Magic you know"
What a sound guy Wilson is, great podcast from you all again
Michael Oliver, unsurprisingly, was wrong. The FA has the rule clearly stated on their website: at the moment the kick is taken, the goalkeeper must have at least part of one foot on, in line with, or behind the goal line. Absolutely nothing requires him to stand on the line, he could stand all the way at the back or off to the side if he chose to.
The rules require the keeper to be standing on the line before the kick is taken.
@@interzone8000 mate he literally copy/pasted it from the FA page..
@@interzone8000 Show me where it says that. I read the rules as published by the FA and they specifically only require one part of one leg to be on, in line with, or behind the goal line.
@@paulie-g from the FA website 'The defending goalkeeper must remain on the goal line, facing the kicker, between the goalposts until the ball is kicked.'
SUPER BEN WILSON IN GOAL
BEN WILSON IN GOALLL
I was at the luton v cov play off final. Went with my dad n his mates , all life long luton fans. Not a single dry eue around me after that shootout, even now, still just feels like fifa irl like I’ve done a career mode🤣 best day of my life. He was quality too tbf, made some big saves tbf
Meet Ben back in Jan and what amazing bloke he is
6:38 I have a theory…..
Gloves have air pockets or even tiny holes in the spongy surface. When saving or catching the ball the pressure applied forces air out of these ‘pockets’ or surface holes, then when the pressure is released the air refills; with Vasailine it forms an airtight seal therefore when released it makes all of them hundreds of tiny little suction cups 6:38 if I am right can someone confirm please???
Cracking show
I go into penalty kicks wanting to see a save because it is the hardest thing to do in sports. You can only cover maybe 8 or 9 feet of 192 sq ft of space. The kicker is kicking around 70mph from 36 feet away. There’s a good 10-20 square feet you can’t get to in each side no matter what even going the right direction and the ‘keeper have to stop 9 inch diameter ball. Absolutely nuts!
My OCD mind thinking about that glass of water slipping and breaking

SUPER BEN WILSON IN GOAL #PUSB
Im not sure if i can pull myself to put Vaseline on my gloves
If your gloves are expensive, and you don't want to, don't. Put some vaseline on a towel and scrub the balls when they come to you. A light vaseline layer will wash off with warm water and soap pretty well, just takes a little more effort.
They wanna see goals unless they can involve VAR and remove goals
With the money in football, i am surprised they don't buy new footys for every training session for the keepers.
HES MAGIC YOU KNOWWWW PUSB
Interesting that the ball is so new and that there is nothing that is done to wear it in. In the MLB (Pro Baseball in the US) they intentionally wear the "new" balls up just a little bit before they are used in games so that they are grippier for the pitchers. I think allowing the kit men or someone from the league to prepare match balls in a specified manner that wore them in just enough to have that feel consistent with training would be a good addition to the game.
Not all. Game balls are often the home teams, which they are used through the course of the year. They get pretty broken in throughout the season, plus refs measure the temperature and air pressure of the ball before each match.
Who's the player
He's Magic, you know! Super Ben Wilson in goal.
He’s manic

Penalty psychologist 😂? Goalkeepers must be the dumbest players on the pitch if they haven't figured out which way to dive yet. If you actually studied a penalty taker and you were quick enough you can dive in the right direction 90% of the time. Saving it is another thing altogether but if you guys pay me enough I'll tell you.
Don’t see u goalkeeping in the prem or any other top league in the world. Reckon u would given how easy it is according to u
