Today, I covered some Kickstarter projects that were nothing more than Kickstarter scams. With some of them claiming to have advanced AI while another infringes on the Spiderman copyright.
These developers are either outright Kickstarter scammers or are just arrogant individuals who are disconnected from reality. - เกม
That art is 100% AI, besides the art having the distinct style of being an amalgamation of others, you can see MJ's collar artifacting where her hair ends on the right side of the first picture, as well as the drawstrings looking off in the blue hoodie Spider-Man image
I know people on kickstarter and so the reason why goals are so low is because if you don't meet the goal, you lose ALL your donated money. So in order to reach the true desired amount, they'll do multiple kickstarters with low expectations as they continue to advertise and make contacts with special interest groups.
Which is exactly what Lucas is doing with The Spider Combat, so this whole video is pointless
@@JustJeff777 I treat videos like these as discussions, and so I tried to offer information that may or may not be common knowledge. I don't see anything as being "pointless" if someone can learn something new.
THat sounds like it should be against kickstarter's ToS.
The Spider looks like something you'd see on Steam during the Greenlight era.
with the only difference that today you'll see something like this on the Steam's front page
@@gaembreaker8887 front page usually has bigger budget games or very popular ones, i highly doubt you'd find something like this on the front page, it might still be on steam but it wont be on the front page

the problem is it is too easy to ask for money nowadays. all these "disclaimers" are too broad and the amounts stolen are so low its not worth a lot of peoples time to fight it.
Thanks for the shout-out! The dude in the comments also got hit with a classic kickstarter pledge scam (likely got offered to have people run ads for his campaign) and then in that same comment accused me or one of my fans of having done so. I guess if in his world 2-3 active players amounts to 2000 players a month, my video with 200 views on it was definitely the reason he's getting scammed.
If I recall, I had something like this when I would get messages from scammers trying to sell me campaign ads when in fact they are only here to con people and nothing more!

Im an artist. I really bet you actually could learn alot with pixel art studying 2hrs a day for 50 days. But otherwise that guy was a JOKE😂
As someone who's dipped their toes into Pixel Art, it is NOT easy to do! You can make something basic, but making it look professional and well made is not an easy feat.

Exactly. I've saw games with amazingly beautiful pixel art. It can get extremely complicated and detailed. It isn't just NES sprites lol

Thanks for standing up for us artists. In nearly 2 decades drawing I was never able to find an audience or paying customers. My most sales were 4 the same year. Marketing wasn't the issue. Even got AAA industry professionals guide me. I gave up on trying to make money out of it. Thanks for your support, including the AI comments. I couldn't make it but hopefully other aspiring artists will.
I know how hard it is since I also tried pursuing art. However it was moreso comics/webtoon and it was so much work that I lost some friends and was almost always sleep deprived. I gave up after about just 2 years 😭. I still love art though and I’m thinking of some day returning to the scene.

@@shteve.mp4i like mob cuz imo mob and origins were the best maps of zombies history everyone down to the story gameplay mechanics and just the vibe from the dark and bloody atmosphere from mob to the cold and unforgiving atmosphere of origins the rewards were also nice some wonder weapons we had never seen before like the hells retriever. And origins staffs just added something cool to the mode also i loved mob of the deads story being in a place that existed irl and filling jt with zombies blood and screams of the undead made me love bo2 when i was like 11.
@@jtletsgo4148 I also love both those maps, the only thing that breaks it for me is the engine. Since I practically grew up on BO3, I’m so used to the 3 hit down and bobblegums that it’s hard for me to adjust to BO2 😭. Still, funnily enough I just got done replaying those maps the other day.

While AI has been malicious in recent years, it's not bad to use to gain ideas. Lucas is using ai art to gain a desired design and run with it. Also comparing indie games to AAA games in terms of costs is just blatantly wrong. It's like comparing a plumber to a dude who owns a plunger. Saying you don't want to hate on something and immediately hating on something is just as filthy and arrogant as the people you talk about in this video.

@@ryokiritani28 you can use ai art to generate a concept that resonates with you and make a final design that is inspired by the content. It's basically the act of game developers making final changes to a desired concept art before putting them in the game, but without the hassle of hiring artists or learning how to draw. This saves him money because he is already a one man team.

You could photoshop all the multiple images you generated to make a new design but I doubt he did that tbh .
Also in general I appreciate when people says that they used AI in their projects which this guy didn't even do ... I know a game dev that did that and it made me more trustworthy of the guy, it's the least you could do after all ...
