I made a pair of moccasins out of 2.5mm veg tanned, they took some work but they are amazing thanks to your easy direction Tony..... These buggers will last a lifetime guaranteed.
WOW Tony, you have really gone "all out" on these patterns! The variety, the alternative sizes AND width of feet.....FANTASTIC!! Thank you so very much!
I just want to say thank you and echo others on how good this pattern is and how easy it is to work with! Really looking forward to seeing more of your work and patterns in the future. I'm definitely a fan now! Wish I could post pics of my finished moccasin! I just have to say WOW! And thank you again.
I just finished building my moccasins and yet ANOTHER(no duh) flawless pattern set by Tony! I used a heavier utility 4.5oz for the bottom outside sole to offer me having these to wear for a much longer time. I also got, last year, the three-pack of leather shoes/slippers from Tony which have worked out Great! ...now if I can just convince my cat that she needs to keep her fur out of the stitching. I'll let you know how THAT goes. Thank you, Tony, yet again for your hard work and efforts!
I'm making these for my family for christmas gifts. I'm adding an extra touch of lining them with rabbit fur to make them extra special as gifts. Thanks Tony for another great pattern!
@@bradantin cut the fur the exact same as you would the exterior panels to form the interior panels and then trim the fur from the very edge of the interior panel to reveal enough skin to make punching and stitching easier. glue the two together, with the leather and fur sides out and the suede and hide sides toward each other. then you make the shoes like normal
Hey Tony!! Thanks for making this pattern. I just finished and they are great. Fits my feet perfectly. I used steer hide in 5/6 ounce. Thanks again and have a wonderful day!! Cheers from Montreal Canada.
Just finished a pair, using anti fatigue mat for the internal cushion...worked great. However, I think the vamp should be wider by another 6- 8mm to allow for a wider foot.
Having trouble getting all the holes to line up. Seems I am two holes off. I am ending up with a twisted moccasin. Took the sole off and reattached down one hole and got the same thing. What Im I doing wrong!! Help
Hey! That's the thing I was looking for! I guess I will do pair by the pattern but do you have a video explaining how to make patterns or it's a trial and error process
Amazing video as always, thank you so much for every thing we learn from your work. I’ve just purchased the pattern and it is incredible with all the details. I was wondering if you are able to do a pattern for moccasins boots ? Thanks
I've found that if you forget to put the lacing in beforehand you can push a plastic zip-tie through then tape the lacing to it and pull it back through. This works on all kinds of things like sweatpants, hoodies, etc. Nice shoes, I can't wait to get the pattern and make these and all the other ones I got from you.
I'm halfway through making your Cat bag right now but as soon as I'm finished I definitely will be making these next!!! Thank you for this pattern and video, running to your Etsy shop now to purchase it!
Great job. I am imagining, native Americans. Or Viking using warm , fresh, soft rawhide for the sole.. when it dries to form fit your foot and keep feet from getting scarred up.
Hi Tony. Great plan. Can you help I am trying to make a pair for my partner, but she has very wide feet ( more than your wide tongue can deal with ) I was thinking the easiest way would be to add a gusset but I don’t know how to design this
Maybe try to use a wide toe box from larger sizes, but count the holes to be sure! I used size 45 with the wide toe box from size 47, perfect for my wider feet.
I made a pair of moccasins for a gift, and although the length was great, the width was far from wide enough, even using the wide toe box. I think this individual has very wide feet… is there a way to adjust for this?
I have also wide feet. I used the parts for size 45 and the wide toe box from size 47. I counted the holes and it was the same amount for 45 and 47. Perfect fit for me!
I am having a great time with these... can anyone recommend how to tie off the string after stitching?? It looks like he burns the end but that doesn't seem secure on my test piece when I try... Making a regular knot looks like it will irritate my foot because it is too big.. any tips from anyone? Thanks in advance!!!
I do 1-2 full backstiches and a half to have both ends on the outside, then cut and burn the ends on all stitches. I prefer no irritation over perfect optics on shoes. And to be fair, you can only see them on close inspection.. fine by me.
I'll be making a pair for myself and my kids and parents! Will the pattern be available as a vector file? My whole family has very long skinny feet, an svg file would be great to tweak the fit
Cut the regular leather and then glue the liner to the inside of the pattern and cut to fit. I was thinking about a really soft, thin leather for a lining.
I also have wide feet, I used all the parts for size 45 and the wide feet part from size 47. Perfect fit for me, just count the holes for the pairing to be sure (same hole count for 45&47).
I used a thicker leather for the sole part and the same leather again for the inner sole / foam part. I love them this way. My wife has a bark inner sole for their home only use shoes.
When he says trust the pattern, he means it. I was stitching the bottoms together, and the holes were not lining up. The holes were off, and I had to go way over to catch the correct hole. When I finished, they were back to being correct. I will make a few pairs before doing any pattern adjustments.
Ok, I finished one moccasin, as recommended by Tony. It came out really well for the first one. I have smaller feet for a man, but wide. I used the 7.5 to 8 and I did measure my foot before I started. There is no way I am getting my foot into this moccasin it looks like it may fit a 7.5 to 8 womens. My wife says finish them and send them to my mother. I will have to go up a few sizes for myself. They do look great!

What size of round leather punch do you recommend for stitching holes for the moccasins? 1.5mm?
1-1.5 mm will be best
have you added a rubber sole to any of these I have the rubber from another project but not sure how to apply it...glue and stitch?

Cut the regular leather and then glue the liner to the inside of the pattern and cut to fit. I was thinking about a really soft, thin leather for a lining.
I'm thinking either rabbit fur or wool shearling
What kind of thread burner is that?!?
Hello, I would like the mold for size 8.5 and 7.

what kind of knife do you use? where to buy it.
What size thread do you use to stitch these?
Thanks, Tony. Gonna enjoy wearing these...
What is the tool you are using to touch the ends of the lacing stitch? Are you melting it?
soldering iron
My foot is shaped like a this foot 🦶 wider at the toes… do you have any patterns that are shaped like this? Or instructions to adjust them? 🙏🙏
this pattern will literally shape along your feet if you use a soft leather
I also have wide feet, I used all the parts for size 45 and the wide feet part from size 47. Perfect fit for me, just count the holes for the pairing to be sure (same hole count for 45&47).
Tony, I've been meaning to ask for awhile now, what needles do you use.. they seem longer than the needles I use.
Can the foam piece be simply left out?
sure but your feet need some padding
I used a thicker leather for the sole part and the same leather again for the inner sole / foam part. I love them this way. My wife has a bark inner sole for their home only use shoes.
