I’m 53. Best advice I ever got was from my 23 year old daughter. I e suffered with anxiety my whole life. She said to me one day “mom, just because someone says something about you doesn’t make it true”. I don’t know why that profound statement broke something free in me.

She's absolutely right. A few simple words from someone can lift the weight off your back. About 10yrs ago when my kids were around 2 & 3yrs old, my uncle's wife saw how stressed and frustrated I was raising these 2 little ones alone... cuz my kid's dad was in prison, she said, "Suga, it'll get easier". And as simple and obvious as those words were, it washed over me in a good way. Her tone of voice and they way she said it also made a difference. She was ABSOLUTELY RIGHT. That stage has come and gone.
So effing true! A tiny bit of kindness can do incredible things!

I only wish I had the time to be worried over anything unserious. My mother snapped me out of this in a similar way when I was a little kid crying over a classmate being nasty to me at school... she said I should never get so upset over something that will not impact you 20 years from now, or 10 at the very least. Since then I have unfortunately experienced a fair few things that met this criteria.
