  • Sometimes we collect lots and lots of leftovers. Small amounts of an ingredient. Little bits of a variety of items. The best thing to do is take an inventory. Make a plan. This way you can thoughtfully use what you have already purchased with your hard earned money!

I have heard that goldfish plants can be notoriously difficult to root, so getting one is excellent in my opinion! Well done!! 🎉

Hi Melanie 🤗 That's great you found a new salad to love! that chicken was perfection!!Nothing beats a whole chicken for making a lot of different meals. Great way to use those cheese swirl buns to make pizzas - looked yummy. Planning is definitely the way to go. I love eating up random leftovers one night a week. That is usually on Friday night for us.

A lot of families have leftovers Friday night. I prefer a random week night. I always like to have a fun supper Friday/Saturday for the weekend. Or that's what my mind thinks. Lol. Whether it actually happens or not is another story.

My dad would make soup on Friday nights from all the meats and veggies from Sunday thru Thursday.

I had pork chops and boxed mashed potatoes for dinner this week. I never eat either of those. Tonight I’m having shrimp cocktail and salad. Variety helps me want to cook/eat at home. Your chicken looks great! 😂

I make that taco "dip" too, although I use mayo instead of cream cheese and use refried beans (on the bottom), with taco seasoning in it instead of the ground beef. And Im already "substribed" to your channel! hahahaha love to tease you!

Hi Melanie, after watching this video I decided I better clean out the fridge. I have a small side by side - 4 shelves in the fridge (not including the shelves in the door) - the second shelf ( which is eye level) is now the “leftover shelf”. I’m looking at 2 breasts from a rotisserie chicken; 1/2 a meatloaf; Chinese take out from my birthday dinner last night; 1/2 part of a package of Jimmy Dean turkey sausage crumbles; a nearly empty bottle of spaghetti sauce. I have a cheese & meat bin and 2 veg bins are not included in the clean out. You are so right - you need a plan

Great meals this week! I ALWAYS regrow my scallions. It’s not a lot of money saved but over the course of the year it adds up and allows me to get extra items that would otherwise bust my budget. Also, do you take garlic? That’s another easy one!

You know I get that it's not a lot of money. BUT small consistent practices can have a major impact on our life. $5 is an item you want! Now, tell me about the garlic.

Have you tried to use the plastic lid from your empty peanut butter jars for your large mouth jar lids? I know in the US ours fits it I'm not sure about Canadian peanut butter jars. Also I think I saw someone use the shaky Parmesan lids on them also for homemade seasoning blends. One last idea to maybe try I know it works because my daughter who is only 12 tried it as a experiment is to plant the bottom root end of romaine lettuce in a shallow dish of water and it will regrow the head. We changed the water every so often but sadly it never made it to soil because I ended up getting really sick and hospitalized for quite a while and it fell to the way side. But we are going to try again soon now that we are all home and doing better now.
Great video and thank you for sharing.

I'll be trying the peanut butter lid today. I'll try the parmesan lid as well. Next time I have a romaine, I will try to regrow. Thanks for all these tips. I'm glad you're home and doing better.

That chicken looked delicious. I’ve been wanting a pampered chef air fryer or Kasori for a long time. My old convection with rotisserie died a couple years ago. When you were making the cookies I thought you were making scotcheroos. I just made some yesterday to use up some old rice crispies . Recipe is about the same except you bring the sugar and syrup to a boil then add peanut butter and rice crispies, spread in pan then cover with melted chocolate and butterscotch chips. Yummy! Makes a lot too. Just google and Kellogg’s has the recipe. Your menu was varied and everything looked great. I used to have a lot of plants and do cuttings. Watching you I feel like I should start again. Lol

We've had the pampered chef Air fryer for about 4 years. We really like it. It has worked well for us. I got the rice krispie cookies recipe offline. Not a winner. I wouldn't use it again.

I'm not a root expert by any means, but I think the roots grow from the nodes where you pinch off leaves. These nodes need to be in water.

    • @adventuresingroceryland
      @adventuresingroceryland  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

I try to have the nodes in the water. Those tall ones don't actually have any, just the way the stem was cut. I think I'm going to have to trim off the lowest leaves

With substituting the honey for corn syrup, were the cookies too sweet? I have about 20+ bottles of those 99c sale bottle of honey...and lots of peanut butter....they looked interesting.
I've planted the green onions in coffee cans on our porch...trim them several times...in the Fall , I just left them and one actually came back to life in the spring. Cut them short..as long as they have a good root, they should be fine.
Great video. Too many people waste food.

I thought the cookies were "too much". I would not recommend that recipe and wouldn't make it again. The handsome one ate them all. Lol.
I am so curious of the green onions. I am planning our new gardens now. I should do a video about that. We are trying to be extremely creative. Space is limited. So I've got my thinking cap on!

I grew up being force fed porridge, a.k.a. oatmeal… about the only hot cereal I could get down was Sunny Boy. When it’s cold in the morning I just have an extra cup of coffee! I have the perfect plan for leftovers. I only cook one thing on the weekend and I eat till it’s gone and after that I order DoorDash or SkipTheDishes. Honestly for the amount of groceries I buy just for myself. I have figured out that I am better off ordering in and then I don’t waste food.

@@adventuresingroceryland Funny you mention fees... One of my streaming services. I don't want to say which one I don't want you to get a strike.. sent me an email saying because you are our customer you can sign up for a year of free delivery service. I saved $120.00! Both services charge an extra fee on top of the delivery charge but that gets reduced for me. The catch is I have to stay signed up with the streaming service, but I have it every intention of doing that anyway.
