I am in the middle of changing a switch for the outlet into a switch to control newly mounted ceiling light. When I opened the switch cover, I was so confused because it was a black and white wire on the two end of the switch (I was looking for two black wires). Now I understood why it’s a black and white wire from your diagram. It’s a method to feed only one wire down the switch instead of two.
After changing the outlet back to being unstitched, what do you do with the switch? Do you remove the switch, cap the wires inside, and then just put on a blank wall plate?
aloha good vid thx. how about replacing a switch that powers the outlet out, and putting in an outlet in its place? I have a double switch box, side by side switches, same box - and one is for the porch light and the other is for the indoor switched outlet for a lamp i guess, I want to take the switch for the switched outlet out and put in an outlet gfi, next to the porch light switch. very old house and possibly no ground wire for anything. Also I have a switch and outlet side by side same box, above the kitchen counter. The switch is for an outlet above the oven for the microwave non gfi now, I want to make it live all the time and get rid of the switch and put another gfi outlet next to the one already there always live or switchless. happy new year to you all --
It does not matter which hot wire you place on the top or the bottom. Flipping the switch up opens the gate to allow the current to flow. However, the hot wires are the only ones that should be attached to a single pole switch

Hey. If you only have one neutral, do you just break the tab on the line side?
yes that will work, but you really dont want to share a neutral. It will work though. thank you for watching. please like the video and sub for me
Or switch?
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Why did this video confuse me even more? I felt like it was in slow motion 😩
it needs to be slow so people can digest it
