I recently got the Acer spin 714 with the i5 processor for $499. Touchscreen and 2 and 1 are a must for me so the Samsung wouldn't be for me, even though I'm coming from a 2018 Samsung pro 2 in 1 chromebook that served me well until I spilled a cup of coffee in it. The Acer gets updates till June 2032. If it lasts me that long, I'll be very happy.
Thanks for the review, I really enjoyed it, especially when there's not very much of the new acer spin 714 reviews out there! So my question is will you be making a standalone review for the Acer? And the second and final question is, is there really that much of a difference between the displays? I had the chance to experience samsung first hand in the UK and while the screen size is bigger and feels good, the device also got bigger compared to other 14inch laptops despite its light weight and becomes not 'very portable'. Additionally, to me, the most concerning part was the pixel density as for a 15.6 inch 1080p was not adequate in my humble opinion. Maybe I was too nit-picky but I could see the pixels in texts on display. Also, I believe the Acer, despite it's 14inch size, has a higher display resolution at 1920x1200.
Ah one more thing, while the samsung felt really premium at first, the display being not flat was a bit frustrating and felt quite entry level at this level of price point. By being not flat, I mean that the plastic frames are actually higher than the actual glass display and not levelled with it.
i would say the display is a little better than the acer as far as: its brighter and looks better for most things, and better contrast but its not enough to be a deal breaker for me. I think i forgot to mention you have more keys on the samsung keyboard that make it easier to type (like delete button) if thats important to you.
The Spin 714 has been my go to for a while. It just does everything well. Good screen,battery life, performance,typing and pen inputs. I have even used Steam to play Grim Dawn on it. One of the most versatile and well rounded laptops/Chromebooks to date imo.

Both seem awesome but i need a touchscreen for clients to sign documents. I have the Duet 5 waiting to see what the new Duet 5 brings to the table.

Acer Spin 714 Chromebook. I would never buy a Chromebook that didn't have a touch display and USI stylus support.
Who is Chromebooks meant for? At that price point specifically.
