Just found you today through VOG! Lovin all the vids, man! I've been at this goalie thing for about a year, and as a 36 year old noob, I can appreciate a well structured warm up.. Keep the great vids comin #fullrightnation
Maybe you can do a tutorial for shooters on how to warm up a goalie. Hopefully, if my guys watch it, they'll quit drilling me between the eyes before the game
I hate people that don’t understand the point of warming up a goalie. I don’t even bother trying to stop the guys that go in for the dekes during warmups
JohnWicksPencil Same I just ignore the idiot teammates who try to deke me at the beginning of warmups. Like I don’t want to pull anything in warmups. Especially since we are only allowed 5 min warmups.
In roller hockey for my warmup I skate to the front of the home bench and stretch do some t pushes and butterfly slides. Then I skate around go to the net and get in the net. Lastly go to the bench and watch how the other team plays
Before any activity, you aren't supposed to do any static stretching because it readies your muscles for static movements. Before practice or the game you should do active stretches and then do the static stuff afterwards to help recover. Trav, will you do a video on how YOU do your backside pushes? I recall from your SZ2 pad review that you use your toe more than most. I'd like to hear how you shift your weight to accomplish this. When I tried to push with my toes, it just spun me in circles. lol Thanks.
Spenser Scholl essentially making them wider apart to avoid double coverage with you gloves overtop of my pants/pads/chest pad. Essentially make more reactive gloves
I always like seeing how other goalie's warm up / stretch out. Everyone's routine is different and unique! Great video man! Thanks for sharing!

You should ask the goalie were he wants you to shoot at him it helps out for warm-ups

Very helpful video Trav4. I'll be recommending this and other videos to the goalies I help coach in NJ. Good stuff!
