I’ve lived aboard my boats for 7 years and boat wins all the time. With that said, maintenance is much more. I pay 2K a month for dock space in Florida. Weather is also a huge difference. Boaters follow the weather everyday. Doing van life for 6 months and boating for 6 months is the perfect balance
Yoooooo! As a native Pittsburgher and fan of the channel, so stoked you stopped by! Was so hype seeing everything Pittsburgh in a video of yours. Was hoping you’d come through when you drove up the East Coast a few months ago but this was sweet!
I’m a Canadian living in the Caribbean so I had no pre-conceived notions of what Pittsburgh would be like but when I hear Pennsylvania honestly I kinda think boring but holy crap Pittsburgh is GORGEOUS
Ryan, When my younger son was a student at Pitt, we went to the same game you were at. We also stayed at a hotel and walked across the bridge. The score was 3-0 and so much rain. It was a birthday gift so I bought great seats on the 45 yard line. Love your videos, Tom from Tampa
that swing thing was bloody so much fun ...yes a bit freaky! but really tempting as it looks so much fun! I think that van life is stressful of finding where to park, then you need a toilet and shower. He has a shower and toilet on the boat! A kitchen! A beautiful bed. A chilled entertanment area! and balcony deck area to sunbake and have fun. I love how you love to cook and he is the mechanic and captain! Works out well! Brandon is not much of a chef but you are! He doesn't even have salt and pepper lol. Air fryers are awesome! But the boat life is good if you are in an area where the sun is out 80% of the time. Plus you can park the boat safely at some of those places where like Brandon you park and stay for an amount per month. Works out cheap as he does not have to pay for bills as it is all included. The e Bikes are such a great way to get around once you have docked, great way to see where you have decided to explore. Its amazing how long it takes to get from one area to the other. So how he would have to do his laundry at a laundry mat. I guess not doing gym as much as he showers on the boat or the place where he is docked they have showers and toilets for those who pay to stay.
Been working on stern drives for 30 years and one thing i noticed is people run there boats at 4 thousand and 4500 rpm,if you run a stern drive at 3500 rpm they wiil last forever.most stern drives are only rated for 4500 4600 rpm... thought id put my two sence in lol...great footage and thank you for the upload..be safe brothers
We do a yearly boys trip to Pittsburgh everytime the Phillies come to town so we were just at that exact spot in July! Glad you got to experience boat life. I’ve had a boat in Port Elgin, Ontario harbour for the last 15 years! Loved everything about this video!
I do the van life thing often and just returned home from a Tx to Ca to Wa back to Tx in my F150 but going back out this time with my 1987 ciera 2150 pocket cruiser to do a combination van life boat life which I also did in the past. My boat is only 21 feet but has all the comforts yet easy enough to tow. I'm really poor but still manage to pull it off!
also as a lifelong steelers fans i did too, but the stadium is known as acrisure (acri, pronounced kind of like acrid just without the d at the end) then sure is just the normal pronunciation, the field is still called Heinz Field.
I’m from uniontown so been a Pittsburgh fan my whole life, it was so nostalgic seeing the city in this video, Brandon seems cool af and that music video at the end made me LOL 😂 love to see it! What a great video Ryan!🔥
Nice raft. The key number one thing is getting a reasonable priced reasonable cabin cruiser or decent RV, maybe a sprinter with rear slide out, small side slide and a wraparound awning with bug net. Or a converted box truck or shuttle van. Getting something in your price range is that key until you need to expand or just change up then hopefully you've been saving and preparing!!! Preparing!!! There will be changes!! I been in a big hoopty van for 1.5yrs now and it is what you make it when it's nothing to begin with. I decided to live in it after a string of poor landlords and high rent. Things were going sweet until I lost that job I had, now I'm kind of a fancy homeless guy. I was about to get a trailer an was looking right before the job loss. RV supplier wants 2 current paystubs before they'll deal. Anyways... I have full comfy bed, lights of every imaginable kind even an single led moon projector that's actually really nice and a sunset replicator led light with 3 diff sunset colors 🌆🌇 and then awesome LED strands of all types. And projection TV thingy. If I have them on and slide my door open, it looks like I should be selling street food! 😮😂 Yes I have disco Ball too if I need. I just can't stand up in here and my knees aren't good. 😢 Eventually here by Christmas hopefully I'll be getting a trailer already built to tow but really to park for a cheap rent situation. (Maybe my ex's driveway for a bit once her divorce goes through. 👍🙏 We have a son!) Then I can park ugly van and just drive my SLK280 around like a normal me. That's her to the left in the bubble.
I've watched every single video of yours and you are the one that has made me want to just live tiny. Whether it be in a vehicle or a tiny home. Even my kids are willing to take the leap with me. You're an awesome person and keep doing what your doing!
Pittsburgh is such an underrated city! So beautiful where the rivers come together. They show the incline in ‘Flashdance’ and I think the girl takes her bike. (Haven’t seen it since the 80s!) Envy you this trip.
I lived aboard my boat for 25 years now I’m in a Van and I hate it land is so dirty among other annoying things , boat life is the absolute best ,hope to get back to it soon .
as someone from butler if you are gonna hang around the PA area i'd highly recommend going upto kane, its about 2 hours north of pittsburgh, beautiful national park land with some landmarks like the viaduct (old railroad bridge that got partially knocked down by a tornado, so they put an observation deck at the end of it) and in terms of food they got a tiny little restaurant called texas hot lunch that's been there for a very long time, the miners used to have lunch there back in the day. (its not in its original location, way back in the day they put the original restaurant on logs and rolled it to its current location when it was made of wood.)
I feel like some kind of lightweight E moto, like the Surron Ultra Bee would be ideal for living on a boat. That bike is fully street legal but it's small and light enough that you could probably fit it on a boat of this size. I'm big into motorcycles, and regular electric bicycles are just a little too limited on where they can go (though I guess it heavily depends on the city) . Especially since you'd be chasing the warm weather anyway, I'd love to give that a try.
I am totally considering boat life, for me I would like a sailboat. Only problem is,in my area live aboard moorage in impossible to find. Some marinas have a 25 year waiting list
Best I recall BOAT=Break Out Another Thousand for repairs on both my diesel and gasoline powered boats. The joy of winterizing or hauling by road to warmer climates. Water warmers to prevent freezing ocean or lake water. Or pulling out and putting back in water. Loved that first oopsie on Haulout.also loved the on ground bit where had to be hauled out to check the hull for leaks, and locate.
Boat life is perfect for me. I live on a 33' Sea Ray on the Great Lakes in the summer. Thing is my marina provides me 2 parking spot. One for my camper van. And one for my convertible. So really you don't quit one. You acquire an elevated lifestyle and more amenities. I stay at Macray Harbor. Fucking gorgeous summer home for my wife and I.
Hey, to each their own. We're hoping to get an empty nester's boat. To "camp" in the lake during the summer. I grew up with a boat. I didn't care for it as a kid. But so appreciative for the experience.
As a DMV native, you'd better not go to another Steelers game ever again and root for them XD just kidding! I just wanted to say you have been a huge inspiration for me to want to start Van LIfe and now.. Boat Life. Much love, and keep up the amazing work, you're killing it! Also i have to give a C-A-P-S CAPS CAPS CAPS
My wife found your channel months ago when she was trying to make pizza from scratch, then I started watching your videos and now my 2.5 year old loves watching with me. The family loves your videos ❤️ hard to find a video I haven't watched lol ❤️
Brandon is one of my faves here on youtube! He's such a nice guy, always replying to my comments and I love his adventures...because I would never do most of them! lol...I first saw him, I think, on Exploring with Josh...also a very cool creator...love the whole TH-cam creator family!
Well not full time full time. You have your apartment that you stay in between adventures you film for your channel. But I still love what you do. It looks like so much fun!
That was the most awesome surprise! A boat video!!! Have to say that is a great idea to travel that way. I used to own a boat with a cabin. Best time of my life 👍
Thats a sick boat, only thing is it needs a proper name. And i dont care what anyone says, its 'pot-abl(e)'. It just makes sense and Im pretty sure thats how the word was made. Like with most suffix/prefix additions to words.
Thank you Ryan. I enjoyed the implicit Vanlive to boatlife comparison but could you put up a real scoreboard of pro/con in your next video? I'd love to know which one wins out for real.
Ahh man! I lived in Pgh for awhile. Whenever you dive in any of that water I'm always thinking you're gonna hit a turd. Maybe up the Allegheny near Warren, but anywhere near the city and down is dangerous! You'll be feeling great once you get down here to Florida for sure. I'm never spending more than a week at a time in pgh EVER again! Stay safe! Heck, you might be down here already from what I've seen...
My aunt and uncle live on a boat on the Ohio River in Kentucky, and it's really nice and can be cheaper like slip rental and electricity wise. Boat maintenance is a beast, though. My family says boat stands for Bust Out Another Thousand. 😂
That was pretty cool. Boat life can be challenging but seems so fun. Gas cost is crazy though. I live in Pittsburgh for 6 years and so so happy to move out. It’s so boring there.
Welcome to Pa.!! Of course, Another Great video Ryan.! And with yet another New mode of transportation.! And Brandon WOW, Mr. Risk taker, ropeswing and jumping off bridges.!!! Stay safe friend.!!! Great boat, never would have thought it would be so inexpensive to rent for 6 months, except for the gas.!! Stay safe boys. Til the next one.!
You were a great boat roommate! Come back anytime!
Beautiful boat man
So cool, I'm way too anxious for van life but boat life, hell yeah! Less chance of having some weirdo knocking at the door at 3am.. 😄
Dudes at the end were shooting a music video or what 😂😂
Come back any time make sure to bring the 496k subs.
@@MatthewMCreadiethank you!

what do you do for work? if you dont mind me asking
also there's very little options for house insurance.
Don't forget to take a DUM9 🥑🤯
Your dock space cost more than my rent
Hold Ya FARD 🤯
Yoooooo! As a native Pittsburgher and fan of the channel, so stoked you stopped by! Was so hype seeing everything Pittsburgh in a video of yours. Was hoping you’d come through when you drove up the East Coast a few months ago but this was sweet!
i know dude! i live up near punxsy . i was stoked when he said pittsburgh! lol also, nice name steve! lol
That rope swing was sick!
no way brando had to style on you like that on the first jump... insane video love the vibes always a treat when ryan drops a vid
i was like AYOOOO
I knew who this was as soon as I saw the thumbnail. Recently followed him!

The surrounding countryside is also pretty and green.
New Ryan Twomey video - my week just got a whole lot better!
25:58 that audio glitch made me cackle 🤣
That AI audio enhancer working overtime haha
I thought he started speaking a different language
I thought I was trippin for a sec
Ryan,
When my younger son was a student at Pitt, we went to the same game you were at. We also stayed at a hotel and walked across the bridge. The score was 3-0 and so much rain. It was a birthday gift so I bought great seats on the 45 yard line.
Love your videos,
Tom from Tampa
Definitely feels like old school vids. Great trip
that swing thing was bloody so much fun ...yes a bit freaky! but really tempting as it looks so much fun! No matter what Brandon says - I love your van Ryan. Plus you cook and have good sense - not jumping off some high ass thing😊

Man props to actually doing it and facing the fear!!!
Another Banger of a video! Love this content!
I'm a Dolphins fan. I remember that game and that punt that stuck in the mud. To funny. Great video as always.
I lived aboard my boat for 25 years now I’m in a Van and I hate it land is so dirty among other annoying things , boat life is the absolute best ,hope to get back to it soon .
Why did you switch? Just to try out vanlife?
The ever rising cost , regulations, lack of liveaboard Marinas or even wetslips and the Hurricane's this past year made things even worse.

Is this true?
If so, the writing was on the wall.. she wasn't gonna sit at home while he roamed the USA.
doesn't he have a girlfriend?
So you’re saying I have a chance…
I’m starting w/ van life, then getting a plane, and then a boat. LAND AIR AND SEA!!!!
Thinking about doing some bush plan camping at some point this year. Just started flight school

I’m from Pittsburgh so maybe that’s why I say this but this was your best video yet Ryan 🙏🏾❤️ (aside from the amazing series)

As the old saying goes, the two happiest or best days of a boater's life are the day they buy a boat and the day they sell it.

What in the hell happened at 29:36? LMAO
hood gang arrived
Crazy what how people pretend just to get the shot 😂
That’s what I said 😂😂😂
They asked to shoot a music video on the boat
They got punked for the boat and called the cops towards the end so they gang left
Yall having a music video on the boat is hilarious 😂😂
Its so cool to see you so close to where I am from! I live about 45 minutes east of Pittsburgh. Great vid!

Glad to see a snippet of the van still around! Good vid
Narrow boating in the UK. British Canals. This would be neat content and a great vacation!
I always thought a boat with a cuddy is the ULTIMATE camp rig. Add an e-bike and you have epic set up
What an adventure....nice to meet Brandon.....best to you both!
I remember that game. It was Monday night Football. The way that punt stuck in the field was crazy. 😂
Never a dull moment in the life of Ryan Twomey! Loved the video. Great and entertaining content! 👍👍👍
Welcome to Pittsburgh. Hope you loved our beautiful city!!!!

Awesome of you both to taking me along 😎✌️
You can have all of these features in the van. HVAC And Heat with a gas generator you can operate everything.
Dang what a sweet video man. And you got to see the Pirates play my Reds! So jealous man that looked like an awesome couple of days.
Either way to say "potable" is fine. As long as you don't say "they misspelled 'portable'".
are you only using the shop to park your truck in it
