    Finally. Someone who shows something cooking other. Than boiling water. Made one of these, and I love it. Thanks for the idea.

    I never did get back with you about how you helped, I think I mentioned that about a year ago. It was a year ago from Jan, we lost power for a week. I had recently built a bucket full of penny can stoves, (thanks to your excellent videos about several different types of stoves, I've since broadened my knowledge of these, but we THANK YOU!!!!), so there was like, maybe 20 in there. Little did I realize we'd need them so quickly (I call that divine intervention), but since we already had several preps, just nothing for cooking. I tell you, those stoves saved our lives. We had light (you won't get much heat for say, heating your bedroom), we had hot water, food, I even cooked hamburger helper on it, using the wire hanger stands, and made tools using the same hangers, with bailing wire, which happens to be the old western duct tape of it's day, I'm sure. Use it all the time. But yes, your information saved our family. Also bought small pans, including a smaller cast iron skillet just for the penny stoves. The Vienna ones are awesome as well. Personally, I always use 100% cotton inside so it keeps everything nice and tidy. Word of wisdom, DO NOT try making penny can stoves out of those tiny cans. 12 oz is about as small as it gets. Any smaller and there's not enough room for air circulation v burning. They will spit, hiss, and generally make you VERY uncomfortable while they are burning. So be careful. Personally, my favorite is the Arizona cans since they are just a little wider. They cook fantastic, last approx 45-60 minutes at around 3" total height, w/ 91% ISO alcohol. Will boil water (like in your video) in about 5 minutes. That cup of coffee in the morning, when there's no power, no hope, not knowing what is going on, that simple cup of coffee, AMAZING. Thank you for ALL of your videos and information. I have learned quite a lot, and lived a little easier knowing what I do, thanks to you for sharing, and passing this valuable information along. You ROCK!!!!

    I will try this Vienna stove. I already use several pennystoves with all kind of modifications, fancy feast and a Trangia stove. I think I have a alcohol stove addiction, better than an alcohol only addiction, says my wife.

    Why didn't I take note of this before? I made lots of rocket stoves etc. This appears to be the best choice. I just watched your video from years ago. I am going to buy the ingredients now to make this before dinner. Love it... thank you

    The Vienna sausage can, tomato paste can and carbon felt wick/liner has been my go-to alcohol stove since I saw Hiram Cook test one. I have a simmer ‘ring’ I use when using it with my ‘dog bowl’ oven. Bannock, biscuits and muffins come out great.

    • @georgerector9252
      @georgerector9252 4 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The simmer ‘ring’ is actually a very slightly larger can (bottom and top cut out) and cut 1/8” shorter than the tomato paste can. When placed around the stove, it leaves a 1/8” gap that reduces flame for a perfect simmer.

    I do this using the nifty coat hanger pot stand Jiujitsu showed how to make in another video. My criteria is using one ounce of fuel (Yellow Heet). I've had great success, and I don't need to carry bricks in my backpack. As usual, great information delivered in an entertaining manner. Thank you.

    Another great video,very impressed that it got the cast iron hot enough. You've always have great audio with your videos I don't need earbuds. I made the Vienna stove and right away had to try it out. I made a simple dish using ground beef,diced potatoes and tomato sauce with a variety of seasoning. It came out fantastic and surprisedly in a relatively fast time. Thanks again for sharing,Ive enjoyed each of your videos Ive seen to date.😊😊😊

    Dude I just found you and you literally save me a lot of aggravation on making these alcohol stoves. Using a Vienna sausage can makes it much easier and without having to cut the tomato paste can is even better. I've spent hours making stoves from Coke cans and the like till I saw your video with the Vienna cans , it's so easy now. Also using virtually anything for a wick is even better. I'm subscribed now for sure. I noticed in your video intro that you have a Navy background. Where you a Navy Seal ?

    I love your Vienna design. I've made 3 so far because they are so easy to make. The home made wire stand is great for packing light but the bricks are a terrific home base stand. I try to use the purest alcohol because of the water left behind after burning low end alcohol but the low end iso alcohol is fine for those empty cat can stoves with the two layers of holes all around. Do you think one hole at the top is better or worse than more than one hole or does it matter much?

    Replace 10% of the alcohol with water and you get a lot less soot. Think it's an official advice from the Trangia company.

    • @Sokol10
      @Sokol10 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The detail is that Trangia advise this for the European Methylated Spirits (denatured alcohol), in this video was used 91% Isopropyl alcohol, that already contain water (9%).
