Does everyone get to do natural forms eventually? I’m half way through year 10 and my class have only studied landscapes so far
My teacher told me you can blend oil pastel with baby oil on a cotton bud, it really helped so anyone reading this it makes life so much easier 😂

I finished my GSCE in April & I know I have fucked it up, I was gonna through a rough patch through my exam and dear god I failed it completely, I haven't got my grade yet but I'm so worried. Due to being in a bad place I just winged it & did some random shit, which I'm gutted about because I enjoyed art so much at the beginning, I did a similar thing to you, the natural form we also did &a yours is beyond stunning compared to mine, your layout is perfect on every page, I quickly stuck all my stuff in so I could go get lunch pahaha. I'm only commenting this purely so if anyone watches this & is thinking about doing art just please don't waste a minute, don't let people get in the way of your exams because nothing I regret more than rushing through my GSCE because i was trying to talk to my friends & laughing my way through it. I think my coursework it self went well but a 9 year old could have done my Final piece ahaha. But wow your work is truly beyond words! You have such talent, you 100% deserve that A* ❤️❤️

Mei-Ying Chow hopefully my course work adds up ahah, sadly I still have 2 years left of GCSE as my school does one GSCE a year rather then a few over 3 years so it more flexible & you can change your next ones if you don't feel like it's your cup of tea anymore 😊 if that makes sense xx

they will probs help u with that, it's just the control, mixing and how to acc paint w any kind of paint. also just a big warning acrylic paint and oil pastels are the worst 😭😭😭
I like how there's small descriptions on each drawling /paintings kind of reminds me of a wreck this journal also it's really pretty and got me an I drawling mode ❤️

Now I see it. So you have to be a critical, venturing observer that creates eye for detail, the subtle colour changes, the highlights, and you go talk about it and show what you like and dislike about it. What genre you get or pick is where you have to find information of and orientate yourself in. Like, study colours, themes, shapes, etc.... Well, it's quite hard to explain, but our teachers in secondary school seem to prepare us for this one, because we have to learn to be critical, observing, variation, show expression, and take value in what we do. We have to give our opinions and our personal look on it via the way of technical/given education. It's like, you're preparing all of these smaller assignments for a bigger exposition for the public to watch. And you are becoming the teacher/exhibitor/seller who has to explain these people what you're working on basically, why and with what media/ideas as attractive as possible to get their interests. In our country, we call this an OC (Research Competence -> More theoretical research) or GIP (Integrated Trial -> More practical work on the research/collecting useful documentation for set-up)

If you really want to do it you could, after all the whole point of school is for you to get better. If the only way for people to become artists was natural talent then we would have a lot less artists in the world

ahh best of luck! I'm sure you'll be wonderful and my advice would be to do as much as you can in the lessons and do it to deadlines and by the end of exams you won't be having to rush back to past lessons to catch up and you'll have 1 GCSE out the way so you can focus revising on other subjects! Enjoy your summer lovely

Elliejoones Some more advice also: If you are allowed cut pages in "cool" way, stick different materials on the page and rip it (makes the different papers show). Write loads about what you feel, whats going right and wrong. Do studies on artists say why you like it, and what this will add to your work! Lots of your own images and find second hand ones for extras. YAY! I'm getting my results soon!

Mei - ying , I'm going to be taking art for the rest of high school and i found this video really useful in terms of getting an idea of what to expect, although I have a question. How often did you have to draw faces or people as part of coursework or an exam ?
Abba Saviar I think it would depend on what your main theme would be for that part of the coursework, you can also add faces as part of it- like relating it to the main theme.

We drew biscuits for the first half term in year 10 and last half term we did collections, also we dont cover our drawings with baking paper so all the transferred marks really piss me off!

Hi. Do you have to use paint in Art GCSE, as I am not really Into painting. I prefer other media like oil pastels. And also, do you recommend doing Geography for GCSEs alongside with art? I am asking this because Everyone says art is really stressful.
Krystian .C I’m in yr10 at the moment do gcse art and geography and I have to say art is one of my most stressful subjects due to the workload and geography in comparison is fairly easy , I would say most is quite easy to grasp and is often common sense. You don’t have to use paints however you should as you get higher marks for use of varied media. Hope that helped x

It's amazing i mean it ! i guess gcse is a course in high school ? i don't not i from France. i never had a course here that let's us express so much creativity while learning new technics , i'm jealous ;)

Thankyou so much and yes the thing that helped me most at the end was making sure my sketchbook was up to date so I didn't have to go back and finish pages that I had left undone. it seems simple but a lot of people in my class found it quite hard to catch up and it also gave them less time to perfect their final boards too! On the Impressionist page did you write the annotation first and then add watercolour or did you do the watercolour first because I really loved that idea it looked so good.x

+Grace Tomlinson because I wrote in fineliners pen I actually did the water colour first otherwise the writing would run but if you write in vitro then it's ok to do the watercolour post writing like polar bear said 💜

lana prot Try doing as much as you can in lessons, then in your spare time like at home or break etc add some bits and pieces to spruce it up 😊 Hope it goes well!!
+lana prot throughout the year spare time wasn't much of an issue. It was just like any other subjects but towards the last term it took up the majority of the first half of exam season but then it was lovely to get it out of the way so I could focus on my other paper exams! That was definitely one of the best things about it as you finish art GCSE earlier in a way. Thank you again and I'm sure your artwork will be amazing. My theme is insects and im so stuck all i can think to do is draw an insect and stick it in coz there isnt much to analyse. Or is there . Hellopp
maybe you could do bees or wasps in their natural environment, or a nice scenery with butterflies around it

i swear my teacher wants us all to fail. we've done like 9 or 10 pages all year. Not studied any artists. when i asked my teacher what to write about the pieces she said just do mindmaps or bubble words when every example i've seen has full on paragraphs.
In a similar situation haven’t had a proper teacher for 3-4 years and haven’t learnt anything for 3-4 words and I have an art mock in 3 days and have no clue what to do for my theme
