Daemon is still grieving for his brother, it shows on how he cried after that dream (hallucinations) . You can tell that he regrets it and love his brother. It's depressing.

How did Paddy NOT GET AN EMMY! S1E8, was a work of sheer brilliance! Daemons shadow self is starting to show. I don't think he was really in love with Rhaenyra, not as much as I at least thought. He seems more in love with the idea of her (when she was young and when he married her), and what she represented- the Crown and in Daemon's words, "A chair...it's got lots of swords in it". But tiny moments in both season 1, (especially episode 8), and this scene apologising for not being there for his brother, show that he really did love him. In the show version of Daemon anyway-I have not read the books. But I love Matt's his scenes with Paddy. Especially when he's upset or dying. They have a magical, moving and touching dynamic.
If Daemon would have just denied that he said it, because he really didnt say it. Viserys really should have just married Rhaenyra to damon. Everything would have been avoided.
The difference between Daemon and Aemond. Both wanted to be king, both believed they were a better fit than their elder brother. But Daemon would have never harmed his brother for the throne and truly loved him despite his roguish nature, whereas Aemond...well we know.
@@user-wh7rb4ce8e I don't know, usually with a bully all you have to do is wild out on them one good memorable time, they either become your friend or bother someone else. I think with Daemon's personality(remember he likes to party and drink too) they would have become even closer.
I think what he really realized is that his family loved him and instead of loving them back he mistook their love for jealousy because that's what he felt for them and it caused him to act selfishly.
It's so apparent Daenerys is the descendant of both Daemon and Rhaenyra. She is just like Rhae when it comes to interacting with common folk. She does have a strong maternal side to her. And Daemon has that same energy and fire she used to destroy her enemies and burn people, including King's Landing, with the latter leading to her eventual demise. Daemon is brave and full of fire but he lacks diplomatic skills and patience. Some of his rash decisions led to the most atrocious consequences, one of them being that "heir for a day" thing. When you think about it, the war would have been avoided had he behaved and stood by his brother. V might have named him his heir if he had actually been trustworthy. So sad! Daemon is someone with great potential and traits, yet he is unable to channel it all in the right direction. He is an unpolished diamond.
What makes it so much worse is that Emma was also Daemon's sister and he mocked her death. His own little sister lost to this world and all he could do was gloat in his brother's agony.
As viserys said he defended demons all his life When Everyone in the small council was against demon viserys there..... But when Queen Aemma was gone nobody was there with viserys we saw he was crying in his room and kisses Aemma ring And when he got sick again nobody was there to comfort
I feel like he regrets being there for Rhaenyra more than his father and all the finger pointing he's been doing truly points back to him because in truth if he would have stayed by his brothers side Alicent maybe wouldn't have even gotten to his side he could have kept her possibly from showing up so much amd he probably would have caught on to Ottos plans
Everyone hates season 2 Daemon. But I love him. He's not a needlessly cocky and deliberately irresponsible manchild that doesn't care about anyone but himself like season 1 Daemon. He's a grown man who finally understands his mistakes and wants to fix them. That "I'm here now" had me bawling like a baby 😅

The child died from health problems shortly after. He was there and it's tradition for targareyan funerals to have their corpse burned by fire, by dragon if possible.

Emotions and guilt are not weakness...it making him human. He shows that him wanting the throne is not to spite his brother. He never got to know his mother's love really ... He was the second son so I am sure they wanted him to be the kings right hand. He learned fighting, and war strategy, etc. He is trained not as a ruler but as an asset to the ruler. That wears on someone. Especially when the one person in your way is a brother who loves you and is not bad at the job. It's much easier when the heir is a lousy ruler, lousy person, and tormented you to turn on him. When you treat your brother like poop your brother will turn on you. I think it was explained well that the reason he wants R was because she was everything he wanted. She was supported by his brother, she was the true heir, and she was cool headed like her father. He was everything she wanted, to be a man, to have freedom, and to be feared etc. If they were able to be together they could complete each other. It's only when his cool headed half is not making the decisions and her female status limits her that they have problems.
