A Chettinad-Inspired Emerald: Iswarya's Home in Bangalore

- The "House of Marakadham" (Emerald in Tamil) - a stunning reflection of Iswarya's Tamilian roots. Inspired by the Chettinad style, this home is a tribute to her ancestral homes, blending tradition with modern living. We were captivated by the soothing green and beige palette, complemented by timeless wooden furniture, including the centerpiece: a traditional South Indian swing that steals the show! The beautiful Kalamkari painting in the bedroom adds artistic charm, while pops of color throughout the decor bring the space to life. What makes this home truly unique is the pooja room - an elegant black sanctuary adorned with brass and gold-plated frames of their beloved gods, a distinct and thoughtful departure from typical pooja spaces.

It's the best home, lbb has shown us. The personality and character of the owners matches the house like a mirror image.thats unlike the homes seen earlier on this channel where they are trying hard to speak in english and show the symbols high life they have gathered eg...a bar instead of a temple. This family has evolved over a few generations. All the best.
One of the most beautiful house I have seen on this series. Every details have been taken care of.Its a dream house.
The best traditional South Indian home showcase so far wishing the owners of pleasant stay in their abode created.
This is by far the most beautiful house i have seen in person or online. Kudos to the vision of the owner and execution of the architect. Huge respect. May the house bring you loads of happiness and joy.
Now this is what you call a warm, inviting ‘home’!! Absolutely loved this tour. Being an ardent lover of wood, brass and plants, this home just filled my heart! ❤️ The owner has clear tastes and the designer has lived up to her expectations, I’m sure!
As a south indian.... love for brass.... and brass utensils displayed very beautiful...
This house perfectly embodies the Golden Mean 😊 It not only avoids all extremes but integrates opposites very harmoniously. It isn't either maximalist or minimalist, either too bright or too dark...doesn't use all warm colours or all cool ones. It strikes a perfect BALANCE. Between the deep, rich emerald green and the soft beige, between light and dark, between wood and brass. Not too much wall, not too many window...not too many plants (like a greenhouse) nor none...It's wonderful to see this intelligently orchestrated equilibrium everywhere. The camera work was excellent, though a few things were missed. That Tanjore painting was divine, but would've liked to see it and the Kalamkari and i-Tokri paintings front and close. A lot of hard work has gone into this house, given all the custom-made elements. Ishwariya, hats off to you!! 👍😁✌😊
I am really touched by your kind words 😊 Thank you so much for recognising and highlighting all the details. Unfortunately the placement of all three paintings restricted the camera person from giving a full closeup. The glass reflections and the Tanjore painting being placed in a hallway which is less than , 4 -5 feet wide. But I will definitely cover all of these in my future posts in my Instagram channel to thank all these brands who gave their best to make our home look the best 😊

So good
Mimics… not gimmicks 😀
Nice home
Lol ya it was funny for me as well when I saw it on the video. This is my first time in front of the camera and hence a bit of repeat words and funny confusions 😅
Unless you mention, no one will believe its an apartment or that the home is outside of Tanjore or Trichi. Well done.
Beautiful 🎉
Super
This is something v similar concept of what I did for my new home. So happy to see this. Can you please let me the glass work person contact.
Beautiful is not the word .. but so difficult to keep all the utensils sparkling and dust free
We do regular dusting however, you could see that the utensils has its own blemishes. These vessels are utilised by our ancestors in cooking over wood stoves. We like to leave it that way rather than giving a polished look 😊 None of these are polished. It's all cleaned with simple tamarind and rock salt
beautiful house
Perfect house
more is less when it comes to chettinad:) the house has great personality. *Love the saree with the small selvedge* -can you share the source please?
It is from SuTa 😊

❤❤❤❤❤
Really nice..all the items you kept and arranged is very unique. but one thing in my observation is about natural light. Was this video in the day time or in the evening? It's little blur know .. I prefer natural light and air mor
Thanks for your kind words 😊 The video was taken in between mid day and evening. Hence all the lights were kept on to balance out across the space. Our Balcony oversees another person's home and we had to close them to respect their privacy. Hope this clarifies.
Ishu ❤
I loved your home. Congratulations. Could you please share the contact details of the brand that made the doorknob and name board
Hey great home Ishwarya, a few questions
what is rough estimate of the interiors it looks super estimate or we can.achieve at much affordable price?
2. i noticed no ACs why though?
and where do guests sit since the hall seating was minimal
loved the entire effort in building this home ❤
Thank you for your kind words 😊 Budget is subjected to what you already have when it comes to vintage or heritage homes. For example, if you have a lot of wood from old homes , it can definitely be repurposed for the rafters, furniture and decor elements. One can definitely do this at a much larger scale as well as in affordable range based on that. This is our first home and we managed to do this with what we already owned and investments were done for civil and wardrobe works mostly.
Since it's in Bangalore we very rarely or safe to say never felt the need for an AC. We are also blessed with 3 balconies out of which two faces an empty barren land of a good size which provides more than enough air circulation for the home.
So the current seating setup has 2 chairs , a two seater and an oonjal which can comfortably accommodate 5-6 people. On very rare occasions we had guests more than that number. Since it's an open living + dining it's safe to say the dining chairs also come in rescue for such days 😊
@@iswaryamahalingam7649 Super kind and generous of you answer in detail, and big thanks for that. once again a lovely home, stay blessed 🙂🎉
Good
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Excellent, what is the total sq feet?
It is approximately 1800 sq. ft
Can you please tell me the source of kalamkar paintings ?
It will be nice to tag the businees
I will definitely call all of them out on a post focussing on each corner 😊
Please tell me where do you get this athangudi printed tile... Thats not the original one.. But a regular one...
Yes you are right. These are regular printed tiles sourced from this place called Mytyles
Is this really DIY ? Or some interior designer has done it ?
Our interiors are done by an architect named Priya Shankar who manages The Design Corner Bangalore. We added some more cherry on the cake from our ancestral place and our vintage collections 😊
@@iswaryamahalingam7649 your home is lovely , the puja room is magnificent . Is that Goddess Varahi murti in the puja ?
@@vvon5423yes it is Varahi 😊
It's not marakatham ,it's marathakam...
Hi Jyothi. It is called Marathakam in Malayalam and Marakatham in Tamil if I am not wrong. But I would love to know if you have any more details about it.
It's Tamil not south indian.pl remember
