I had the YZ250e and was a great bike and still have a brand new lower chain roller in my tool box of bits that I never fitted. Great build and sounds so nice.
That takes me back a while. Had the IT250 that was modelled on the YZ. My IT490 was converted to late 80s YZ forks with a front disk. Much needed on the 490.
I've never seen double pull drum brakes like that before, that was an era where dirt bikes were developing and evolving rapidly, soon would come liquid cooling and power valves.

Beautiful build!! I had an 81 RM465... This brings back memories.. 😎👍
Legend has it Disco Dave's son is The Dirt bike Kid
Very cool build
Rad build! Looks and sounds great
My first dirt bike, I remember it well. Bought it for $500 bucks off a friend. Never left me stranded.
Those Airstryker carbs are the way to go on a two stroke. Very niceYZ.
Love this dude and love the build!
Beautiful. I miss my yz 490.

Pretty sure this bike isn’t an 81
81 was first year liquid cooled and the radiator was on the forks behind the number plate
Nice work 🤙had a 490 with drum brakes they work surprisingly well.
Bkack swing arm? Might be a 76?😳
Nice bike. To me, the 1981 YZ125 was the craziest YZ ever, with old body style look, but newfangled water-cooled engine.
I had the 125 G,stunning bike.
Wasn’t the radiator up on the triple clamps?
@@stevesmith756 Yup,on the ‘J’
@@stevesmith756 Yep
My first 125
Wow looks and sounds so cool, one of my fav era's, well done on the build and resto, love it, big fan of the Yellow Yamaha era!🤘
Glad you like it!
Nice work. I am working on a 1986 IT 200
Very cool!
Good job nice build.
It’s monoshock but not Rising Rate. They still qualify for twinshock racing in the U.K.
That is so Cool Thanks Guys!!!
Why make the swing arm and forks black ?
Because it’s his bike
Well it would have been nice to see it rip 🤷🏼♂️
Yea i liked those, but that water cooled cr 250 ate that yam for breakfast..
Pretty sure that’s not an 81
