  • When the Chief Rabbi was in Canada in November 2011, he took part in a public conversation to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Torah in Motion.
Co-sponsored by the Shaarei Shomayim Congregation in Toronto, the title of the event was "Future Tense: Where Are Judaism and the Jewish People Headed?".
Introduced by prominent Canadian politician, the Honourable Professor Irwin Cotler MP, and in conversation with Dr Elliott Malamet from Torah in Motion, the Chief Rabbi spoke about a range of topics including: faith, fighting antisemitism, Israel, Zionism, Jewish education, and what it means to be a Jew in the 21st century.

Another wonderful lecture by rabbi Jonathan Sacks. He was a wonderful communicator and orator. to the World He speaks to all in the Community-the Jew,who believes or does not believe and the non Jew.He said in his words wear Judaism with pride and be proud to be a Jew He was a lover of reading and books. He was also a philosopher and historian and a man of great learning With a warm. heart he greets children of many ages Rabbi. Jonathan Sacks was also a strong supporter of Judaism and Israel. With tears. In our eyes we mourn the loss of a great rabbi-May his name be a blessing and May his family have long life.

The Kichwa Indigenous nations of the Andes have a term for what we see in Rabbi Jonathan Sacks. The term is "alli shungu"
(good heart). He is very much alive in our own hearts, where his teachings will remain and live in future generations.
