    Rabbi Jonathan Sacks Book Quote: "We are at an Age of Maximum Choice & Minimum Meaning" ?? True ?? If yes, What is "Meaning" in that many in today's America have lost ?? Is it "Connectivity with others" --neighbors, friends & family as a key "lost world of America 2021" ??? How ??

    Loved totally most of this and the Rabbi made so many beautiful heart reachinp points....but if " Prophets are those who speak truth to power" per the Rabbi, then how can he use religion, the clergy, the Rabbinate as reason to avoid David Brook' s loaded question re the U.S. current presdency?? Isaiah, Jeremiah et al. would for sure lambast it as they did to many in power for their corruption. This is not a political issue at all but one of justice, ethics and flagrantly ignoring the 10 Commandments written on tablets, yes but also written deep in the heart of every person made in God's Image no matter how deeply they bury this awareness. This is a time to act on the prophet in each of us, didn't Moses say, Would that everyone would speak in the Spirit, would prophesy when Joshua wanted him to punish the two guys who were doing so apart from him.

    I'm sorry to say, truly, that for whatever reason, Mr Brooks seems so disingenuous to me, so sincerely vacuous and deliberately inoffensive, that I cannot credit him---even when I know I should.

    It's amazing how this jew leaves out the real reason Moses left the Egyptian life for the countryside? He murdered another Egyptian is why he left! Amazing how this jew left that very important piece of information out. Making it sound like Moses had choices--nawww he ran for his life!

    evangelicals have no moral compass
    Religion teaches HATE
    Burn down ALL churches & their MINDLESS followers

    • @brackmorton
      @brackmorton 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I understand how you can feel that way. Evangelicals can come across as judgemental and not always loving. However, I have found that acts of kindness spur other acts of kindness. Acts of love strengthen the bonds of love and actions of hate only create more incidents of hate.
      It takes strength of character to resist the urge to retaliate. That is why Martin Luther King, Mohandas Gandhi and Nelson Mandela are viewed so kindly by historians. They show how one individual can turn the tide of a nation by standing up to injustice with courage and non-violence to bring about needed change.

    • @jamesmadison3580

      acts of kindness are nullified by evangelicals making excuses for immoral republicals.
