Tang Wei is an excellent actress. She could act and made believe that she was a young teen age girl in the TV series while she is actually a 39 years old mature woman. She captured the spirit of the young woman in the story and delivered a wonderful performance. Zhu Yawen is also an excellent actor. I first noticed him in 闖山东。He is like an onion with many layers. He brought alive the character 皇太孫 and got us hooked, wanting to find out what next.
Daily dose of entertainment piling up. Thank you so much for uploads with English subtitles. Chinese period dramas 12 years ago were such a delight. Veteran actors.

Qin is the first dynasty taht united the kingdoms of ancient China by emperor Qin Shi Huang the emperor ( the role that Zhang Bin Bin played in The King’s Woman) who built the great wall. Qing dynasty is conquered by the Manchurians. Im tired of Qing Dynasty dramas, want to watch more Han ethnic culture dramas. The two dynasties are at least thousand years apart
That first question asked by the empress is translated incorrectly. She doesn't ask if she's looking good. She asks the maid if the picture looks/resembles her, and the maid answers that it does.
Idk why i started crying after seeing them grown up into diffferent cities i kinda feel like the sisters will fight each other soon 🤦♀️🤦♀️😭😭😭 so saaad buh exciting and btfl as ever
What I love about this drama is, these are mostly real, like when Zheng He brought all the ambassadors back to Ming, there were a few kings of the small countries came to China, loved Chinese culture and life, stayed for a couple of years didn’t wanna leave lol
Just in this episode alone Zhu Ya Wen showed so many differents facets in his character as Zhu Zhan Ji. He is such an amazing actor. Thank you so much for uploading the drama here and a big "Thank You" to the people subbing!! The ending song is beautiful.
Before I complain, I DO appreciate the work on the Eng Subs. But lot of it is just... incorrect. Viewers who don't understand Chinese & are reading the subs, they do get the gist of it, but aren't getting the full understanding when the Eng translations/subs are off. Even little things like: 1st sentence spoken by the Empress(?) at beginning right after the poem: She had asked if she looks like the painting. Not "do I look good". 2nd sentence spoke in this opening episode, it was said: I've heard the Emperor... Not "so I know the Emperor..."
Absolutely facinating. For a long time I knew that I am 25% east Asian. Being from the Caribbean I always thought that this was probably due to me having native american blood. Recently, through Family Search, I found ou that I am a descendant of a Ming dinasty ancestor via an Armenian Princess ancestor.
I agreed with W Francis 's excellent idear . The two actor and actress Zhu Yawen and Tang Wei I like them very much. This is the first movie I have had watched so many time.

The Ming Dynasty is the real China and can represent Chinese culture. The Qing Dynasty was the Manchurian colonial rule over the Chinese. I ’m glad that China is now rejuvenating its own culture.I see too many girls and boy with their han clothes,so beautiful
This drama is a profound morality play and will repay all the reflection by which one is able to enter into its implications concerning justice. The performance of the Grandson of the Emperor is brilliant! All the principle actors are above exceptional. As a person of Western Culture, I am sure I have missed many nuances presented here, but what I have received, I know how to value. A thousand thanks!
There are 3 emperors in this drama so when you compliment someone affiliated with the emperor, I suggest you take time to find out the emperor's name 🤦🏻♀️..

真实历史上 朱棣登机确实是杀了一批建文旧臣，但是都是靖难之初檄文上的人 也就是怂恿建文帝削藩的代表人物，汤唯的老爸景清为何被杀 就是因为景清是核心人物。事实上只要不是檄文上跳的最欢的那几个 大多数的建文旧臣都是依旧原职 不说被杀 就是职位都没动。而且也不是诛杀九族，女人小孩是没杀的 发配教坊司为奴

That's ok, they will correct them with time. For now. Just having English subs at a decent translation we should be happy

明宣德帝朱瞻基历史上的太平天子，守成之君，一手由祖父朱棣栽培，开创明代的仁宣之治。可惜寿命不长，在位仅十年即病逝，死时仅38岁。朱亚文演朱瞻基也算是演本家皇帝了。这个皇帝承前启后，继往开来，还是挺有的写的，就看剧编的怎么样了，别糟蹋了这么好的历史题材和汤唯这么好的演员。张黎总监制，怎么没让儿子张若昀演男主啊？不过朱亚文第一个亮相还挺契合历史人物气质的。

独坐幽篁 汤唯就是不好看，发际线太高，长相只能算是端庄，但不够大气。她演邻家女子，市井民女还算清丽动人，演宫里浮华艳丽的贵妇，不够生动鲜活。

字幕有些翻译不准的，比如“燕王”，应译为“Prince of Yan”而非“Seignior Yan”. “Prince”一词在英语中既指王子、皇子，也指代亲王、王爵，是最合适的。“Seignior”是庄园主的意思，用来翻译亲王封号有点不伦不类。
