I used to do a lot of hunting with a 1970s Benjamin 22 cal pump. It was great for garden pests. We had severe rabbit population explosions after coyote hunting with deer hounds became popular. I also used it to take with me while running trap lines on creeks and harvested wood ducks and even a Canadian goose here in Louisiana. Yes, that`s illegal. Yes, I hunted for food. I never hunted when they were nesting, etc. When I wanted to eat duck I limited myself to three a few times per season. I`d hide behind beaver dams. Had no job besides trapping. One morning I was squirrel hunting and a coyote began trailing me. I waited and wondered what he was up to until he approached to within 7 feet. The Benjamin dropped him like a rock. I returned home that day with my 8 limit of squirrels, three huge swamp rabbits, a Wood Duck, and the coyote. I sold his pelt. Didn`t get much.
I used (back in the mid 1980's) a Daisy multipump 880 airgun for squirrels and rabbits. It worked well out to about 30 yards. Impressed with the stalking practice. Enjoyed the video.
I own the Crosman 362. Feels good in the hand and dead accurate . Needs the steel/Alum breech for decent scope mount and upgrade. Hunting with this gun(squirrel in Virginia) dicey at best more for plinking. It kills fine but pumping this gun is loud and any game around will hear you, and thats only one reload. I prefer the nitro break barrel for hunting. I Would buy the Crosman 362 again. its VERY fun to shoot and mod.
just a thought, backwards? Ive only had 1 .22 cal pellet and it was a 357 6 shooter revolver. looked real! All my rifles have been .177 but they are still great and accurate riffles. Hard to go wrong with a Crossman or even a Daisy pump. I had the Daisy Eldorado .177, so cool, so much fun.
The rear sight that fits the steel breech is a good addition for the gun in case the scope fails it’s a good backup both of mine are set up with that combo
I can’t wait for the airgun survival challenge!! I have a big problem with prairie dogs on my ranch they will destroy land and break horses and cows legs.
very cool, im in oklahoma now and i too tell people that california is much much more than hollywood. i have a 362 as well and was wondering, have you done any work to yours to quiet the clack at all?
@@Wingman115 I was wondering if you may have dampened the pump clacking noise. I started to mess with the magnet and broke it, it's quite fragile. I was aiming for a rubber washer in its place. I have a few upgrade parts for it in the gun room. Got the hotrod valve etc.
@@Wingman115 I still hunt a little but do not do ranches anymore. My wife passed away this past July...so I have been trying to get myself back together. Rich
Great day on the ranch John! Glad to see the air rifles. Awesome 40 yard shot buddy. How much time practicing with the 362 so far? I'll say it again. Crosman needs to improve the 362 air rifle. Steel breech, better fully adjustable rear sight. and improved plastic thickness and fit at the butt stock / breech area. Looking forward to Dana and you getting out! Is the Tacticam working? Wondering if Dana or You will get a Seneca Dragonfly II for review and comparison?
What a great day out, you smacked that gs pretty good. That's a bummer about the camera, hopefully can sort out. Glad you found the flashlight 🔦 Cheers 👍
Nice air rifle, nice scenery too. No squirrel where I live so I assume they taste pretty good ?as I understand lots of outdoor folk in USA eat them (I am a big fan of eating any game food). You sure are lucky to find your flash light. I live in fear of losing my keys / small stuff when out hunting. Thanks Dave 🇺🇸 🇳🇿
@@Wingman115 I lived in CA for a when and killed 98 ground squirrel with my gamo swarm gen 2 air rifle. And those squirrels are really hard to get close to.

I always wanna call that area when I am driving to the valley. It’s so close to my house. Tell my son every time “we gotta call that one day”.

I haven’t but you can get bolt on moderators from Buck Rail that would do the job.

Awesome looking hat. What brand and model is it please? I'd like to buy just like it.
Stetson Powder River Buffalo hair hat. I have a video of it on my channel.

Glad you found that flashlight. Good times.
Id love to do a survival week if your down pellet gun and fishing.
It looks like my Benjamin Maximus has the same trigger assembly. I agree, it is nice.
Thanks for watching.
Niiice shot! It looks like the northern San Luis Obispo county area. Finally some greenery
A little rain goes a long way.
Ya baby no support equipment to lug around , just the gun and some pellets . I'm a big fan . Keeping it simple . What pellet was used ? Thanks bro .
Just the Crosman Premiere Hollow Point 14.3 gr.
Great video John what cal is the 362 and how much do you pump it to get a 40yard shot

What when and where is the air gun survival challenge ? Great video by the way as most of yours are.
Well I'm looking to do mine in the high desert. Dana had a major road wash out to where he goes hunting so he may have to change locations.
What pellet works best for your 362?
Nice shot brother! 🤙🏼🍺 steered clear 🤣🤣

I definitely like this side of California 👍, I could handle being out there, minus the woke Governor.
BTW great hunting video 🙂👍.
