  • Located within the rugged terrain of the Cascade Mountain foothills of Washington State lies this historic abandoned copper mine. A testament to over a century of industrial prowess. Discovered in 1897, this historic copper mine has stood the test of time.
    Join us as we offer a glimpse of its silent chambers and mysterious submerged passageways, a world long forgotten, where men dared to venture into the depths in search of fortune. One of this abandoned mines' most aw-inspiring features is its flooded winzes that descend into the depths below. Watch as we look beneath the waters surface, a glimpse of hidden history.
    THE MAJORITY OF THE MINE NAMES ARE CHANGED OR ALTERED IN OUR VIDEOS TO PROTECT HISTORIC ARTIFACTS AND PREVENT THE SITE FROM BECOMING A NUISANCE SITE. IN SOME CASES WE HAVE BEEN GRANTED PRIVATE PROPERTY PERMISSION AND WE HAVE BEEN ASKED NOT TO DISCLOSE LOCATIONS.
    Many ghost towns, mines and other forgotten historic sites in Washington State have already disappeared from history and many more are being lost each year to the ravages of time, wildfire, vandalism, and intentional closure. In addition to our many years of photographic documentation of these important historic sites we are now attempting to video document as many sites as we can so there is a lasting record of these places for future generations.
    We hope you enjoy what we do and will join us on our adventures through a bygone era of Washingtons rich and colorful history. Not only do we love the history we explore and document, but we truly enjoy sharing these sites and experiences with our followers and viewers.

    Very interesting! I really enjoy watching this exploration of mines and caves. I'm not aware of any accessable places around where I live , so the next best thing is watching it on TV. Thanks for sharing what you do with us!

      @@ghosttownsandminesofwashington You bet! There is a very interesting historic mining district very nearby to where I live here in the deserts of SW Utah called Silver Reef which I have been to many times, but all mines there are completely sealed off.

    this is a very interesting exploration, this mine are much better preserved and it is a real insight into history. in Ukraine, unfortunately, old mines are flooded or looted. I will be happy to recommend your channel to my friends

    Sadly, you can't tell anyone of your passion for exploring; I don't even talk about the places I go hiking to, let alone any mines I explore. Everyone is so full of preconceived horror stories and fears that everything that isn't paved or concrete is unsafe. And they don't mind telling you all about it and all the ways to stay safe; you wish you never opened your mouth. I was looking through the comments, and you're getting quite a following of armchair explorers going for your videos, and you just might change the stigma (?) a little of what society places on the dangers of places they know nothing about except their own self-instilled fears of the outdoors; good job!

    I've crossed that bridge 6 times and each time soggy splinters of timbers break off and float down into the depths, the air isn't too bad for anyone who can climb a mountain. I've dug out the upper most adit twice and it appears to be completely flooded, there's also several small tunnels in the area.

      We have done similar over the years. Went in that flooded upper you dug open. Fun area to explore. Thanks for the comments.

    What is the engraving on the structure at 39:02?

    How do you know if the floor is continuous and you’re not walking over a vertical shaft

    • @ghosttownsandminesofwashington
      @ghosttownsandminesofwashington  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question. You have to examine it closely to look for the wooden collar that goes around the shaft.In this particular case, the entire shaft spanned the floor, so there was no real solid ground.

    Do you know what you would find, or if anyone has put on scuba gear to explore the depths of that incline?

    The trough is probably the Launder that carried water across the winze from the continuing tunnel.
