Middle class women have been doing this for ages. I have seen my mom do it. I do it unconsciously most of the time. I love to see that even though she can afford to buy she still makes a effort to refurbish old furniture, reuse old bottles and contribute her bit to the environment. Love you Dia.

I live In Texas . It very extreme weather place. But still they planting two or three trees infront of every home and side of the road they planting as much as tree they could. They also providing under pipelines for each trees . Still in the Mediterranean weather they doing amazing thing. We also do things in India like this.

I always find dia more beautiful than aish ..I know I should not compare but then we are audience so we tend to do that...and of course aish has also contributed a lot but still for me dia is more beautiful

She's so right about the sparrows though. Sparrow population has reduced tremendously in urban areas and cities. Here in Pune, I don't spot a single sparrow anymore. We should really do something about the revival of sparrows.
Moving from ktm to Pune last year that's one of the things I noticed too. I see a lot of crows and pigeons but never seen a sparrow here. We have lots in Nepal

I keep water and feed for sparrows and maynas..There chirping is heavenly. Our society has many birds and I've often seen water containers kept under the trees. I'm also growing some flowering plants and plants like Jasmine, dwarf Moriya which have sweet smelling flowers. I think it's important to be connected to Nature. Next step is..I'm going to build bird houses for Gaurayyas..sparrows in the balcony of our flat

Dia, U are really a well grounded and motivated person, believe me. Most delighted to find that I share 80 % of your "sustainable urban living" essentials. One thing i have done, since i live in arid zone Delhi, I have exactly similar narrow verandas (packed with flowering creepers, n' flowering plants -the ones having honey a lot which the magpies enjoy in the morning). And water-sprayed khus-khus curtains across the wide windows and doors of the wall adjacent to the verandas. That brings in two squirrel families to snooze every afternoon and night. I don't use AC. May our tribe multiply n' prosper.
Dia is a true eco-warrior! Her home reflects her attitude of doing little things that save the environment. Love the balconies! Lush & green!
