Great idea! Going to try it. And thinking I'll put some Yupo paper (or another non-porous substrate) under the ornaments to catch some of that colourful spillage. Might be able to do something with that as well. (-:

Thanks. I've had really good luck with sealing them with the Krylon UV spray Matte finish (3 light coats). Glossy reactivates the inks. Then if you want to spray a glossy varnish on top, you should be good to go. If in doubt, start with a light coat and add another when dry.

What is the stand that you have them on? Did you make it or buy it and if you bought it where did it come from?

I just got a block of styrofoam and poked some thick skewers into them. However, you might want to put plastic under them if you do a lot of ink, as they are full of holes and the ink will flow right through them.

Can I do this on plastic ornaments?

I would say yes because you can use alcohol inks on to yupo paper which is a paper made out of plastic. But, I have not tried it myself. I would definitely seal it with UV matte spray afterwards with a few light coats.

You can. However I would start out super light, pause and add more if you want. That way if it starts to run and you add more it can get away from you. You can also dip a brush into alcohol and flick onto the ornament or apply dots of alcohol. That looks pretty too.

So when I've tried to seal it with the spray, it makes the alcohol ink bleed much more than I wanted. Any tips?

I use Krylon UV Spray in Matte. The gloss will reactivate the alcohol inks. Really aggravating when that happens, I know. Here is the link and I will make sure it is in the description if you need it later. amzn.to/3kG9ejg

@@Jackielane88 I can't really say all UV matte sprays work, because I have not tried them all. I can say that this one works great for me and a couple of alcohol ink artists that I know. If you have something else, do a test. I would recommend that you take a before and after photo of it also. That way you can see if anything shifts.
