I don't think you have to worry about Gramps dying anytime soon. The mangaka decided that Gojo wouldn't have parents because it was more convenient story-wise, but when she watched episode 1 and saw the scene of Gojo praying at the family altar, she felt really guilty about it because she never considered how that would affect him.
I love how these two are portrayed. Yes, there was a potentially dangerous misunderstanding (he could easily have injured himself as he was racing toward a burnout), but it's so abundantly clear that this conflict will lead to growth. They will both learn about the mistakes that led to this, namely communication and unnecessary secrecy. Thankfully, they also get the better outcome where they learn AND have the outfit completed.
It's rough watching Gojou going through it, with everything piling up on him. Seeing him work through it by re-motivating himself is honestly pretty amazing. And seeing Marin's guilt and appreciation really cements her endearingness. Interesting side note: that first Hina doll Gojou shows Marin? That's a doll, "Bell's Kiss", made by Suzuki Keisho of Suzuki Dolls, the artist that author Fukuda Shinichi interviewed for the manga and based a lot of Gojou's background on (the Gojou Dolls shop is also based visually on the Suzuki Dolls shop). Pretty much the day this episode aired, the shop's yearly run of "Bell's Kiss" sold out. And they're not cheap - there's a site that sells traditional Japanese crafts to the wider world that offers her, her prince doll, and their backdrop/setting for $2500.
Enjoying the reactions a lot so far; I love watching people experiencing what become (unsurprisingly) one of my favorite series of all time. For perspective; when I got married, it took a professional tailor two weeks to do *alterations* on the bride-to-be's dress. For a first-time dressmaker like Gojo to create a custom dress from whole cloth *on top of* tending the store, worrying about Gramps, and studying for/taking finals? It's no wonder he hit his breaking point on that final night.
Yep!!! Just knowing that it takes a couple of days before I can pick up length alterations to my pants made me worried for Gojo doing all of that in two weeks 😭 Felt so sorry for him!
Fun Fact: The author actually tried to do a cosplay similar to Shizuku. She was able to get everything done, however, she got stuck on the eyelashes because they were too difficult to put in. At the end she wasn't able to do the pictures and regretted shaving her eyebrows since they take weeks to grow back.
Yeah the shaved eyebrows surprised me bc lots of people hide their eyebrows with a regular glue stick to make brows look completely different 😭 shaving them is intense!
Gojo's Japanese Voice actor (with help from a pro) made a cosplay outfit for Marrin's actress. The woman who sings the theme also has a video cosplaying Marrin
Funny I Love crossplaying in my Tradional Alice in Wonderland dress So much fun puttinng on a wig and dress Love crossdressing in my Vintage pencil dresses and skirts Or A Long leather pencil dress
The way these two communicate and try to understand each other is just such a breath of fresh air in the world of romantic fiction.
Amen!
