I have created many mouldings using bonding plaster for walls, in UK it is called bonding, and after setting it you can bake it in the oven for 4 hours at 150 degrees and they became solid as rock, I used them for replacing some missing decorative brackets or supports under a window sill, though they were for decorative purpose as the sills did not require physical support to the overhang.
Just out of interest, how come you guys don't simply create a relief mold, and lay up the plaster so that each cast comes out with the smooth front surface already made each time? Rather than needing to create the front surface?
I thought that. But he I believe renovating some protected British Heritage buildings require any replacements to be made as the original installation. In this case maybe the original cornice was run in situ using slaked lime putty and plaster. Running it on the bench and using hessian canvas to strengthen it may have been an easier and acceptable alternative.
its plaster of paris you get it from any builders merchant who deals with the plastering industry but one note its not easy to work with cause it goes off very quickly
Camilo Loyola tap the mould with a hammer to ring the bubbles to the top..... this is a very lenghty process that can be shortened by about 80% on this vid
Dears Extra fine POP is 200mesh having Drytime 20-30minutes it can also be used inMedical system as in Prosthetic and orthotic sciences. another one POP is 100-150mesh having dry time 15-20 minutes.
How we do it in USA you get straight lime mix it over night put water on it then get plaster moulding make a ring with the lime pour water in it put moulding in it more moulding the faster the set up time usually a 1 to 1 with moulding
Really you need a class you just watched it grow a pair ! Oh thats right you said NY go to your safe space think about it then lock the door drink your cool aid
@@irvinwittmeier5208 whoa chill the fuck out. Why the hell do you care if someone wants to take a class? This video show what they're doing but gives no detail.

Great video really like the music
For gods sake get a bucket and a splash brush! Why didn’t they run the reverse and just cast the cornice??

Instead of playing loud music as opposed to background music with a person speaking, explaining what and how you are doing?
Agreed the music was really loud and annoying
The music isn't annoying or loud enough, you can do better.
Esto lo necesito, gracias por publicarlo
Masters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! decoratore ..........
Hello. I´m trying to do a plaster cornice. But all of it has little bubbles in the front side. What should I do to avoid that?
Did you use a brush? that usually gets rid of air bubble and bounce the mould aswell

So slow and inefficient. Just lets the plaster fall off the end.
