    That is truly a landmark of guyana which needs to be preserved. Renovation is needed to preserve its beauty.The central government should take full control of that municipal municipal municipal

    • @Bantu-King
      @Bantu-King 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The central government cannot take full control of a constitutional and elected body and institutions that manage the city. What the government has to do is work with the elected officials in a manner that is respectful and consistent with the constitution for real development of the city and the country as a whole. Guyana is a democracy and not a dictatorship, nor an authoritarian state.

      The central government would like to take control of the municipal responsibilities by trying to circumnavigate the constitution laws,can't happen they have to work together,it is not a dictatorship that is been ran.All good for the eyestectics of that area what about a robust health care system adequate drugs for poor people at the Georgetown hospital ,pure potable water,unclog canals and adequate fogging for the dengue fever out break.come on there is oil money.

    This is a lovely initiative. Along with this the government needs to offer business management and customer service training to improve the behaviors and experiences of the locals.

    People are all talking about development of the Stabroek square.We need to develop the mindset and reconstruction of the people of Guyana.We also need to make laws and maintain them so people would not continue to live carelessly,we need decency to protect the things that are needed for our convenience and Tourism.

    If this project is ever to be a success parts of it will require a lot of brainstorming and definitely zoning won't be a viable strategy for vendors. The account of vendors in the area alone is too much. Also you would need to reoutfit the vending community with business propositions such as partnerships and other joint ventures and you would have to implement management committees to help manage those ventures and also to help mediate a lot of the conflict that will arise

    • @everydayisaholiday3657
      @everydayisaholiday3657 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Zoning would help reduce the redundancy of products being offerred. Some merchants will have to adjust or relocate. Beauty products and a professional services corridor with dentists and other professionals would elevate the area.

    This problem could've long been solved decades ago when it was being created in the 90's. It wasn't because there were financial and political benefits for allowing the degrading of Georgetown.

    • @josephwinslow7613
      @josephwinslow7613 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Georgetown is and was always run and controlled by the PNCR/APNU because they always won the election for the mayorship and city council in Georgetown. So, when David Granger and the APNU were in office they could have fixed any problem that existed in Georgetown. Also, Desmond Hoyte and the PNCR, could have done the same because it is PNCR mayor and city council who have been running and controlling Georgetown for the last 60 years.

      @@josephwinslow7613 Exactly! This is why PPP made well to neglect Georgetown. It has majority APNU-AFC supporters. It's pure ignorance and a slap in the face to our whole nation as our capitol should mean something to every patriot. We also have PPP businesses and supporters living there too

      @guyanasun4361 perhaps Guyana shouldn't of gotten its independence from the British because if we hadn't fought for it this place wouldn't look so dysfunctional at all. We would still had trains and so much more to this day but no the place just had to go like this. It shouldn't have taken 5 decades for it it to look like this.

    • @guyanasun4361
      @guyanasun4361 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@kokogirl870 Guyana looked better in the 70's and early 80's under president Burnham. And that was while he was fighting an economic battle during the cold war. When PPP came into power they let the place turn to crap while selecting certain farmers and land owners from their family circles and support base to enrich in the more less populated rural areas using government funds and national allocation of land. The idea was to restrict the capabilities of opposition supporters that happen to be majority Afro Guyanese. Things seem better under president Ali, but the party is still corrupt and crooked.

  • @josephwinslow7613

    The minimum wages and salaries in Guyana is $300 US per month. So, no amount of big projects is going the human suffering that some Guyanese people are going through to feed their children and themselves. The Guyanese women, literally, is prostituting herself to survive and feed her children in Guyana. Because she has a different man to pay her rent, a different man to buy her clothes, a different man to buy her food, a different man to buy her a car and to give her spending money. The politicians and their children don’t have those problems because they are in control of the oil money and taxpayers money to do whatever they want with in Guyana.

    Georgetown is a few meters below sea level, due to climate change and the melting of the polar ice caps Ocean levels are rising steadily. In Guyana this will mean rising river levels and inundated areas of Georgetown and the coastal regions. Savvy investors will think twice before sinking money into a project that's sitting on a sinking mud plane.
