Agree or not but Eric's first act on agt was his best act till now.
It is just like shin's dream act which he performed in the semi-final. It was his biggest act and the producers forced him to do it in the auditions. Shin was a bit smarter and refused

This should be his audition act, and the act he did in the audition should have been done in the semis.
Imo his semi act should be his audition performance, then his audition should be his Judge Cuts performance. Eric should create another trick for the quarter finals since a majority of acts in a quarterfinal night make the next round and Eric would still be liked as a fan favorite. The Judge Cuts act should have been the Semi act. And the quarter finals act should have been Eric's final act.

Well a good presentation is also important
people keep saying that he should've done this trick during the audition. what people don't realize is that this show is very manipulative. performers don't get to choose which act they can perform first. before the audition got aired on television Eric had to showcase all of his tricks to the director and from there the director will pre-determine if he is winning material. If he isn't, the director won't tell him and will order his performance from best to worst. i know how much of a setup this show is because i've attended many of their live shows in previous seasons. they even make the audiences act. we were signaled to clap, cheer, stand up, etc. also during one of the live shows I attended there were some acts that were pre-recorded and aren't actually live. the performance was too risky to show on live tv so they performed it at the very beginning before it goes live. there were some re-shoots as well. it's funny to watch the judges acting surprised during re-shoots because they saw it already and it just felt so forced. if this comment gets deleted by AGT I wouldn't be surprised
This comment needs to be seen. Though I've read a few articles about how they even manipulate contestants emotionally to create drama which won't exist otherwise, e.g, tell them to say things/do things they don't intend to then have the judges criticize that and film their reaction.

This explains so much like the audience cheers so much when a singer hits a note, they are always shocked by the simplest magic trick and when a choir moves they freak out
Magic doesn't always have to be super good, it just has to beautiful and have a good story. Eric does a wonderful job of that

Yeah , he is great , but the camera moving away and stuff like that took away from it so I was confused too . I prefer the trucks where the camera shows the whole pic at the same time like with his other tricks !!! In other words I want to see the whole illusion performed as people would see it there without any camera editing to help!

Owen Lin Yes he did not like it. The only judge that really liked it was Howie. You can watch the one with the judges comments. Julianne said she was confused, Simon said it was not big like he wanted, Gabrielle tried to be nice but did not seem to like it too so only Howie liked it.
I'm assuming he wants to save his best act for the finals but I doubt this is good enough to even get him through. Hopefully people vote to see his final act.

To be fair he had a couple days to practice this act and yes it was not good but he deserves to be in the dunkin save for a chance in the final with way more preparation time.

I know Eric as a magician from before the show. The issue here is his best act was his first act. His first act has won so many awards and is one of the best acts in the world right now.
He was so good....but the camera failed us viewers .... In any case his magic was enchanting and unique

This is not a semi final kind of act! I think Eric missed the trick here by putting new tricks rather than big banged tricks (could be old). Its semi's n u can't take risk here!

He is called THE MOZART OF MAGIC. So stop comparing Chen to Shin, he is great tho but he use his best routine on audition already so no wow effect to his later performance.

This performance was awful and that is 100% not Simons fault. I love Eric’s previous performances but this one was just boring and ,like the judges said, a mess. His talent makes him worthy of going through to the finals but this performance would not even have gotten him past the auditions I don’t think

The fact the camera didn’t show us when the rest of the monuments appeared in figure form ruined his show. Obviously the people sitting in the audience saw it, why couldn’t we? Was it a camera director’s mistake that was intended to be shown but wasn’t?
As is, this was easily my biggest disappointment of the night but only because I expected more from him and that’s why he won’t go through. This is not a wish, it’s a prediction.

We were confused with this act too. It wasn't that much different from the close-up stuff. He is a great talent and act and it is sad that he didn't make the top 10 or finals. We said from his first act that it would be hard for him to win because Shim Lin just won. Two magic winners back to back seemed difficult. Maybe he regrets coming too soon on AGT or maybe he regrets his semi-final act. We thought he should have waited a season or two because he didn't even make the finals. However, someone should pick him up on a show because he is really good. Too talented of an individual to not be on a big stage.

This isn't Simon's fault. Simon told him to make it bigger and in spite of what Eric said he'd do, he didn't follow through.
Eric had two choices. He could've either followed Simon's advice and made the act bigger or ignored it completely, followed Julianne's advice, and stuck with good closeup magic. He chose neither and instead went with bad and confusing closeup magic, which has nothing to do with Simon.
William Plesser he did follow Julianne by doing close magic and besides it was pretty good until they didn't show the rest of the monuments
@@Stephyyyyyy He said he was going to follow Simon but didn't. He didn't tell us the truth. That's the first problem. I don't blame the cameramen. The judges were watching it in person and even they were confused.
Even if the cameraman did screw up, this was still a bad act. Most of it was just repeating tricks that he had done before. I was hoping for a dramatic ending but was let down, and I don't think that just a few more monuments would have made a big difference.
I think Simon is messing up Eric's act by pressuring Eric not to do close-up magic, Eric's forte, but to make it bigger. Just ignore Simon and do a fantastic act for the rest of us (other judges besides Simon are fine with close-up magic).

Yeah, but overall Eric is way better. He can do many more things...he is a master in coin magic, I mean a beast. And that's way harder as a magician than doing card magic.

I don’t get it :/ Eric’s audition was like Shin Lim level magic. His first live show trick with the coins and paper was great as well! Every other trick he has done has been hit or miss for me unfortunately, but I do hope he makes it into the finals. If he does make it to the finals, he needs to do some Shin Lim level magic again.

My thoughts exactly.. I said to myself 'with that audition I cannot imagine what he will bring next'.. but so far I'm kinda disappointed with his act
The problem with his sets is that he uses props when his greatest strength is with using common items in magic like playing cards and coins. He could do an oil and water trick and you'd be amazed, he could do a coin matrix and you'd still be amazed even though it's easier than the sleights he is currently doing. The reason we can appreciate Shin so much (aside from this charisma and skill, of course) is his knowledge of tricks that magicians have used before him and making those invisible. Eric does make it invisible for some of his sets, just not this newer one. Even Jon Dorenbos, someone who uses the very basic force, can make something magical because his props are geared towards his personality.
@@LandonHughes2 That audition act was the same act that won FISM, making Eric the world's best close-up magician. Unfortunately, Eric put all his eggs into one basket. The FISM act is the only leg Eric stands on.
He blew it. I went from thinking he'd be a shoe-in for the finals to now thinking he was the worst act of the night. By far the biggest disappointment.
