The Battle of Kapyong had an outnumbered Canadian and Australian battalion take on an advancing NK and Chinese forces, yet their efforts not only won the day, but also help blunt the Spring Offensive and ultimately forced the NK and Chinese back.

Canada provided the 4th most important contingent during the Korean war.
It’s was the 2nd ppcli and for their efforts they were awarded the US presidential unit citation.
If you want even more exploits look at the Battle of Frezinberg from WW1 where 700 Canadians took on 40k Germans holding them off for 14 hours till reinforcements could arrive. In he end only 137 Canadians survived.

Canada, Australia, and New Zealand fought together in an important battle of Kapyong. Out numbered 3 to 1 and with little air support they fought off a massive Chinese advance aimed at Soul. The battle was dubbed 'the perfect defense.' Almost nobody has ever heard of it even in Canada. Just thought I'd bring up some interesting history.
As a New Zealander I would like to say that we were not taught in that, even on Anzac Day

wow i’m a canadian and I never learned that. i just read up on it and i’m completely astonished. i had no idea we did that. we actually popped off in that fight.
Interesting the Canadians sat and watched the Australians fight most of the time until the Chinese decided to make a move on your guys up through the valley. You had to pull the finger out and fight then, and the Canadians fought well, just don't wait so long next time to join in. The only losers out of that campaign was the recognition of the NZ troops that took part with cannon support which backed us , they still should be given the recognition for the important roll in which they gave, can't say much about the US tanks though.
We really should make CANZUK a reality!
I've heard the Canadian forces in the Korean War (at least those fighting off the Communist advances toward the South) were told something like "No retreat, no surrender. Hold the line no matter the cost." The men who fought that unbelievable war were tough as iron. Their stories need to be told and honored.

Actually the red river rebellion was a stunning success for the Métis, the rebellion forced the federal government too accept them as equals at the negotiations to admit Manitoba into confederation so they could protect their french heritage and language.
To this day Manitoba still has one of the largest francophone populations outside of quebec.

Australia had one of the highest percentages of its population volunteer for ww2 and Australian forces were the first to push back German and Japanese advances in the war, so that’s pretty neat.

During WW2 many people from Australia and New Zealand fought in Greece. Our school history books recognize their contribution but not as detailed as it should be.

@@IncrediibleHauck As a Canadian, the history books mostly talk about the colonial age, talks about each province and gets quite boring (well its school, what did I expect) the parts that entertain me were 1812, WW1, and WW2

for me it was from colonial to recent in 1 semister aka half a school year. a lot in short time

As a Chilean, I am very disappointed that we are not here. The republic of Chile has never lost any war.
The battles in New Guinea were almost entirely undertaken by Australian forces that were outnumbered at least 3 to 1 , while U.S. forces were concentrated in the islands , and the Aussies still defeated the Japanese in the PNG jungles ! New Guinea WAS A MAJOR battle zone .
One million Australians served in our forces in WW2 , ------- we only had a population of 6.5 million . That's a major effort !

Holand was regained by mostly American forces canada was a big help with the capture of Berlin
@@dustinbrust5053 umm The Netherlands was mainly freed by the Canadians and the British . The US Army may have cleared out some parts near Luxembourg, but the Canadians and UK had the Netherlands in their area of responsibility
