Misleading title. This isn't hacking, this is recording and replaying a garage door opener you have. Hacking would be to do it without recording it first.
Hacking by definition is gaining unauthorized access to something or using it for another purpose than what it was intended. This video is for demonstration purposes. You could capture someone else’s garage door code and gain access which would be unauthorized. Hence the word hacking. Which is also illegal.

No you don’t. You just have to be within range. I’m not on here to explain everything little step needed because there are plenty of bad actors out there that check TH-cam for things like this and I don’t promote illegal activity.
