  • In 2014, the average lifespan in Greece was 79.5 years which places Greece seventeenth in the world. But that's not the most important thing. This country has its own Olympus of longevity - Ikaria, a small island in the Aegean sea. Research shows that Greeks reach the age of ninety two and a half times as often as people in any other European state. Modern Icaria stands for two towns and 60 villages with the total population of 9000 people.

That is one part. But also giving to others, staying active, having family support and being altruistic.

I knew a Greek lady who lived in a New York City suburb. She never learned to drive, socialized with the other neighbor ladies, believed in not overeating, and walked every where. She lived to be 102.

The common good is a factor in longevity. The world emphasis on efficiency, branding to be the best, competition necessarily discards some humans while elevating others, offering fewer opportunities to the marginalized for health, DIGNITY, and meaning.

Chasing careers and money comes at the expense of your happiness, family life and longevity .......Needless to say that food, water and air have to be as clean as possible ....

You mentioned a couple of times they tend to marry later in life. Is there a reason for this?

Judging by the 103 year old who was born in 1911, this must have been filmed in 2014.
