I have an 051 AV as well. When it is at idle, it sounds like it has a heavy duty racing cam in it (not that it does). It will rip your fingers if you don't catch it right on start as shown in the video. I haven't met a tree that could stand up to it. It has brought home many, many loads of firewood for us.

Hi Oby.. greetings from the UK.
      They are a fantastic engine..
So powerful and they absolutely destroy any size of tree.
      My favourite 90cc sized saw.
As you say, you have to be careful with your fingers...lol
      Kind regards Rob

Hi. I am a bit of an 051 afficenado but there is so much not as built original with that saw. It like a good starter as well. Also I have the fingers to back up what you say when you try n start them wrongly. There was never a non AV model 051. But in saying that I do like your videos a lot. I describe them, any 1111 series saw, as loud, noisy n shakey but get a good one n they are a bloody good/great saw still. The hard bit is finding a good one nowadays

Damm man, I own Stihl 051 AV electronic, it is leftover frommy late grandfather. Anyway, mine does not have chain break, and that 404 chain is pure monster. 051 is low rev chainsaw but it is tourqe monster. We use is sometimes for heavy duty jobs, but man that thing is heavy as hell. Worth to mention that my chainsaw is probably 40 years in our familly, and it runs just perfect. Thanks for video dude, greetings from Croatia.

In fact the reason is you can keep 2 hands on your saw at all times this way of doing kept me out off a couple hairy situations

Explain about the choke. Leave it up or down?

    • @stridebaad1219

Hi. Up or forward the choke is off and when pulled back it is on.
      Regards Rob 😀
