Speaking as a student who worked with these "dances" over the course of 20 years, - There is a lot more going on here then is visible at a glance. This requires a remarkable effort of concentration for the "performer". I remember the very last time I worked at this particular movement, when the transition to the faster bit started I burst into tears as my emotional center opened and yet I managed to just keep right on going while one part of me observed with impartial curiosity the part of me that was weeping. Such a state of freedom I have rarely felt, I'm not sue even powerful drugs can provoke such an experience. This experience continued to influence my feelings by momentum for several days and I might even say... even until this very minute. Gurdjieff was a master! He wasn't just putting on a show... he was awakening the latent consciousness that is present in each and every one of us.

I couldn't agree more ! :) I discovered his teaching quite recently and would love to know more about this art of dancing and practice it. What you say about it does not surprise me : I already think that a lot of ideas and exercises in Gurdjieff's teaching are "difficult". It's not an easy way of awakening your consciousness.

The group I was part of no longer exists. I was a student at the Claymont Society For Continuous Education during its heyday in the 1980's and I was a resident of the community there til the mid nineties.

@@agneseiden6873 your arms have trouble staying up. But it is very uplifting. She was so light here it felt like she might levitate, her energy connecting and nourishing the dancers at the sides as they nourished her in return. So uplifting.

My college professor played this music almost every morning before class time. I’ve finally found out what it is! I love this culture, it’s so interesting. I thought it was actually Indonesian for awhile.

This brings tears to my eyes. In the past when I watched things like this, I found it just interesting and had a major desire to partake in the movements. But sometime later, after looking at this, and having experienced movements, on a regular, as in actually trying to do them, and connecting to the music which is a helpmeet to the movements, I am brought to tears watching this. For the movements are in my body, so to see the movements, with the music, is just an immense experience for me now. To get a taste of this, to connect to your body in a new way, to connect to the music and feel it, and to connect to your group, is just an experience that is indescribable. truly.

Gurdjieff groups exist all over the world, however they rarely advertise. It is not an easy way. However Gurdjieff once said: One can no more begin to embrace these ideas and not be changed than one can drink a liter of brandy and not get drunk (paraphrased). Effort is part of the process, you can't buy grace with effort but you can energize your consciousness in such a way that grace has a place to get in.

things are going wild without any attention, i watched, and her dancing bewitch me. that i am falling with...
    whole 9 minutes of dancing,
spanning around on her own peace,
    the divine of beauty.
few lines of others dancing with their particular rhythm,
symbolic of the order in society.
the center of herself made few changes but with its soul of blossom,
music goes on, steps following, until we agreed to tempted by now.

With such beautiful music and dance, you must wonder about these strange mixed feelings you have. what is it about? it's like some mysterious longing for something we've never been but yet it is like a beautiful truth about us, we humans. is it a realization that between all these noise we are diving in nothing is real but our feelings? or is it just the option we neglected, due to this big market called life, to be better creatures?

@bulgora I understand why you said that. There certainly does not seem to be anybody around of the same caliber as Gurdjieff. And yet, in order for you to honestly say "no one understood a thing," you would have to be acquainted with every one of the tens of thousands of people who have encountered Gurdjieff and/or his ideas and who have struggled in their own way. And you would also have to have access to each and every one of their "inner" states in order to know if they understand/understood.

As for the sum of the movements and the symbolic movements, is there an explanation or is it an experiential thing for the participant of the Dance?.

The reason why no one will come to Gurdijeff's caliber is because Gurdijeff is his own man.
He said that the student should not blindly follow their teacher.
What Gurdijeff wants his followers to do is take his ideas and apply it to their own humanity.
Use it for yourself so that you become a better person.

Live in harmony with nature. Live in peace and love. The creator is beauty, peace, and love. Love for creation in all forms.

***** Maybe as a meditative practice its effective but to go on a stage with that i think its medicore. If i were to sit on stage in silence meditating that doesnt make a good show even though it might be helpful for me id feel sorry for ppl in audience.

+Victor Popov you have to understand what you are saying. he did understand the need to put on a show and to dress up for you to be able to reach the Divine. It takes will, action…you want to reach the kingdom of God…you are going to have to put on a show and dress up your life… thinking you are any bettter than someone else will not help you my brother. Surrender…and you will Receive. Have you ever noticed how an male animal will put on a show to attract a mate? well man is the conscious mind.. woman is the subconcious mind and only through her can you reach the Infinite Intelligence we call God.. and since you like to be literal.. i'm not talking about a separate man and woman.. but it's a symbol of you, yourself. You must put on a show in order to be heard.
Are you still playing video games?
