FENNELL "Valor and Sacrifice" (for Brass Quintet)

About 13 months ago, I started this piece. I ran out of time to finish it for Memorial Day, 2023, but I’m happy to finally share it this year. The piece, “Valor and Sacrifice,” is the result of a lot of thought I’ve given over the years to the virtues exemplified by so many veterans over the years. There are countless stories of the bravery of soldiers in battle, and as many stories of their selfless sacrifice for their country, their kin, and those who went along with them to battle. This piece is a kind of eulogy for those who gave their lives.

Powerful piece, Drew. Nice very respectful, and moving. No problem that you didn't get it done for Memorial Day. It will fit well in any patriotic holiday. Oh, and thanks for quoting John 15:1! BUT, it should say John 15:13, is the correct reference. These are the words of none other than the One who died willingly for the rebel, the needy, the lost sin-stained person.
