the locking hubs is a great design....Craig maintains all his equipment....top condition...great shots for someone that has that model and wants to take care of their machine...Happy Thanksgiving Craig
They did everything heavy duty back in the day. Zerks are unheard-of nowadays unless you buy the top dollar blowers. Everything is built cheap and fast now. I replaced the friction tire on my craftsman and cub cadet blower. One was cracked the other worn almost half way. I would love to get a 2 stage blower for my 416-8.
They really did make things stronger and more solid. I use this snowblower as a step stool sometimes, the entire front can support my 230 pounds. I have a single stage for my 520-H but I can't make a turn with it, too many cars. Next house if we have a long driveway it will be perfect.
Sent a post and copied you. Pic looks like just three pins, knock them out, grease them and put new pins in. HF sells a bix of pins that is good to have on hand. Hope that helps.
I had a 2000 Ariens 1028, that was a total beast. Heated hand grips, serrated auger, huge tires, 10hp Tecumseh, grease zerks, head light. It was awesome and I never should have sold that.
Keeping everything well serviced and greased makes sure when you need it , it is ready to use . Good work Craig. 😁👍
Thanks Rusty, dread the cold but power equipment does make it more fun.

Let it Snow! Let it Snow!! You are ready!!
Wow, this is amazing, but I have the same Ariens 824 as you do. Your's is in better shape than mine, but's it's 99% identical. Mine still runs well.
Supposed to put 5W 30 in it
That is 1985 5w30 conventional oil. There is absolutely no problem running the oil I’m using.
Have you ever had to replace the chute worm gear? How much 9f a hassle is that?
