Also besides Thor, I feel like Captain Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Vision, and the Hulk could take out some of these teams by themselves. I definitely think Scarlet Witch could take some of these teams down.
Considering the Avengers have had cosmic and God tier members like Captain Marvel, Silver Surfer, Blue marvel, Quasar, Sentry, Scarlett Witch, Thor, Hulk, Nova, Dr Strange, Icon etc etc, then I don't see anyone taking them out if we pick and choose our top 6-7. But if we're sticking with the original 6 then yeah the annihilators is a guarantee for me. Alpha flight and fantastic four no way.
It's a silly list. Our #1 pick is the Defenders, because they're made up of members like Dr. Strange (Avenger), Namor (Avenger), the Hulk (founding Avenger). I mean, the Avengers currently have Thor, Phoenix, Captain Marvel, Ghost Rider, and Starbrand. I think you pretty much have to admit that any team that doesn't include Galactus and Eternity isn't going to be able to beat that.
All Father Thor, World Breaker Hulk, and Scarlet Which would destroy all these teams convincinly. The only one that could give them pause is the Annihillators but they would still go down.
Fun list but way off with some of them. Alpha Flight wouldn't stand a chance, and I love the FF, but they have issues dealing with The Hulk on his own so there is NO WAY they could beat The Avengers.
It depends a hell of a lot on which Avengers line up you're talking about. The current Avengers line-up has the potential to be incredibly powerful even if they don't always show it. Consider they have a Phoenix on the team who has the ability to consume planets if she cuts loose, the Starbrand who is a walking planetary defence mechanism, King Thor and Captain Marvel, alongside regulars like Iron Man and Cap, very few teams are more powerful.
I agree ... in some of the teams on this list she talks about numbers, but if you take everyone who has ever been an Avenger into account, you are talking about hundreds of different heroes. Only Professor X and potentially Doctor Strange can deal with that. Even the FF would be overwhelmed by shear numbers. Even if you're talking about teams during a given time period, there were Avengers teams that were way over the limit the government mandated and then at one point they had an East Coast team and a West Coast team - both of whom had some big hitters.
This seems like a list of other teams and not a list of teams that can beat the Avengers. Thor by himself could whip the ENTIRE Alpha squad by himself. The Web Warriors? Really?!!! Some of these groups could like the Annihilators and Defenders but many were put here to make the number 10 count. LOL

FF is consistently underrated. Invisible Woman, by herself, can take out half of the teams on this list (put them in a shield bubble with no air hole). Torch can go supernova which also takes out about half of this list. In my opinion, they are not high enough on this list.

Funny fact; Defenders including either Hulk, Namor or Steven were cancelled because Living Tribunal showed Dr Strange Earth would else be invaded by lizards Karbooms cause of a sleeping droid waking up and going crazyhoops. I'm all for the discussion! It really does depend on which Avengers team we are talking about and which version of every other team we are talking about but I think in general all of these teams have the capacity to be more powerful than at least one Avengers roster minimum.
You're comparing the MCU Avengers to teams from the comicbooks. The MCU Avengers are dysfunctional and weak. Compare apples to apples, not oranges. Compare the Avengers team from the comics to other teams from the comicbooks. You'll get a very different outcome. This is not a fair comparison...ijs
Depends on who they’re going against. They are a powerful team, but I wouldn’t put them over the Justice League in this same scenario, but you’re right when it comes to comparing the MCU Avengers.
It depends on the Avengers team line up. AF is definitely better than some of the rosters the Avengers have fielded. Based on that, AF can be a more cohesive squad since their roster isnt changing up every 10 issues.

I'm also not discounting Gladiator, Hyperion or Hercules. I'm putting Thor at the head of the pack because, well, he's THOR. He's got a 60 year comics history to demonstrate that he was always the big dog at anything less than Sky Father level.
During the massive AVENGERS/DEFENDERS war crossover during the early 1970's, the Defenders did beat the Avengers in member versus member combat: with the exception of Thor versus Hulk which was a draw as they fought to a standstill. Hawkeye(who was a Defender at the time) beat Iron Man, Valkyrie beat the Swordsman, and the Silver Surfer beat the Vision and Scarlet Witch, Dr.Strange bested the Black Panther and Mantis while the Sub-Mariner faced Captain America and they both fought the X-Man, Sunfire. An epic storyline from the great age of comics

As much as I enjoyed The Defenders Netflix/Disney+ show, yeah the comic had some cooler heroes. When I was reading the comic, they also had Doctor Strange, Hulk and Son of Satan. Also, Nighthawk, who I never saw in anything else, but I thought he was cool.

Alphaflight gets respect and maybe be underrated and certainly underused but they are certainly not a match for the Avengers. Maybe they could compete against the west coast team but not the main squad.

Me and my cousin are making a Defenders DnD campaign and it's kinda tough because they are *built DIFFERENT*
Okay - How can I be the only one to talk about the 2 teams NOT on this list, who deserve to BE #1 and #2: The Imperial Guard at #2. No way Gladiator and his many teammates do not totally overpower the Avengers. Lest we forget...at #1 - The Centurions from the Negative Universe. Remember Annihilation? These were hand-picked Champions from every world in the Negative Zone and they are described as having abilities and powers at *least* as powerful as the Avengers. You're welcome.

Well considering that the Avengers have had many other members through the years (I.e. Namor, Spider-Man, Wolverine, Black Panther, etc etc) it would all be based on what the current roster was.
Since the Avengers have historically had a pretty variable membership, this is a tough comparison to make. However, I enjoyed the tour through the MCU.

That Annihilators team was ridiculously OP. You take out Ronan and add Hyperion or Star brand and it becomes a death squad.

Alphaflight gets respect and maybe be underrated and certainly underused but they are certainly not a match for the Avengers. Maybe they could compete against the west coast team but not the main squad.
