4:29 Ben and Ben are twins named Paulo Benjamin and Miguel Benjamin.. hence Ben and Ben.. Like how the others explained in their comments, Ben and Ben members talked about this collaboration with SB19 in one of their vlogs and they were in awe at how fast Pablo wrote their lines in one go.. according to them they just explained the theme of the song and threw in some words that they could use.. one member shared that she just went out to get a drink of water and when she came back, Pablo was done. After the read out, they were amazed that each member instantly knew which lines they would be doing and were ready to record. Btw, Josh shared that this was their first collaboration.. Mapa was just released first. As always, thank you for sharing their music 😊
This kind of song is just fine in the Philippines because we are in a democratic country wherein the voice of the people is free. Even gospel songs can be into the mainstream music. I'm waiting for the rock OPM to prosper again. Thank you for your RV
BG, as always thanks for your rv. Thank you so much for always supporting the boys SB19 and other Filipino artists. I'm hoping for you to receive your silver play button soon. ❤❤❤ God bless you and your family. 🙏❤️
This is a great song with a great message. Democracies are forms of government which has its power from the people. They wanted to remind people in positions of power that the people are not to be lorded over but instead served.
some facts about the song: #1 - Ben&Ben initially wrote the song when police brutality (an offduty police shot an elder lady bc of land issues) became rampant in the Philippines. They officially released it a year or two later (2022) with sb19 writing their own rap verse during the period of national elections in the Philippines. Ben&Ben and SB19 are both advocates of choosing wisely and using our right to vote, hence, the raising of fingers at the end with the colors of the Phil. flag. (we put indelible ink on our index fingers here to signify that we're done voting) #2 old tapes in the beginning - quick glimpse of Phil history both good and bad, past presidents, martial law (marcos dictatorship) etc. #3 the people with blank frames during the violin part at 5:32 - a nod to "desaparecidos", a monument/installation created to represent the families left behind by the faceless victims/enforced disappearances during martial law (marcos dictatorship) in country.
Hi BG. Thanks for checking this out. This song resurfaced too because of the current drama using this as its OST. If you may, please check PABLO and Arthur Nery's performance of "Pagsamo" in The Voice Kids PH. Thank you!
This song KAPANGYARIHAN (KA- PANG- YA- RI- HAN) is they're first ever collaboration with Ben & Ben. 2nd is MAPA. When Ben & Ben ask Sb19 to meet, Sb19 thought they're going to have bonding with them. But when they come to the place, they were ask to have a collaboration and on the spot Pablo did the lyrics of Sb19 part
Ben & ben is also amazing live! Pablo wrote SB19’s part when they met up on the spot as someone mentioned in less than an hour. Its a pretty intense song
I saw the video of Ben & Ben telling how amazed they were with Pablo how fast he wrote the rap part of SB19 and the parts assignment to members on the same say they meet to discuss the song.❤
Yes it's true KAPANGYARIHAN is a political song released 3 years ago prior to Philippine National election... this is another proof of Pablo's great song writing ability, they claimed that SB19 part was written in a couple of hours only..thank you BG for this
Ben&ben although led by the twins Paolo and Miguel, does not only pertains to the two of them but is actually the whole 9 - piece indie folk-pop band. The song Kapangyarihan was originally composed by Paolo (the twin who sang most of the part) sometime in December 2020 after a Police murdered a Mother and Son following a dispute. Yes it is political and primarily about power dynamics and injustice.
This song was released before the presidential election but they actually wrote this because of an incident with a police officer who killed a civilian over an argument. It was big news at that time in the ph. It just so happen that the message of the song also serves as a great reminder for those in position and to the people as well that the real power lies on the Filipino people.
Apparently,in the past there was an incident in the phi with a person and the police and it ended tragically with an injustice left and so Ben &Ben was motivated to pen this song but I don’t think it is a political song but was used as such an poor SB19 had some negative impact. I’m not totally positive about my explanation a third party mentioned this. Whatever their voices are great and SB19 bits were awesome
Ben and Ben is not shy about its political principles and has been known to lend its voice on stage to support the presidential campaign of a candidate reknowned for her integrity and advocacy for social justice. I was pleasantly surprised that SB19 agreed to be involved in this song and if there was a backlash, I have not heard of any.
I’ve requested this before but I guess you haven’t read it. But anyways, this song was a political campaign against corrupt officials and to vote wisely.
Yess

This is now the OST of an ongoing PH drama, titled "Pulang Araw," which is about the country and the Filipinos during the Japanese occupation.
