    I played my 1st county competition match , using what I’ve watched on here & realising he was struggling on long jacks kept it really long & pleased to say I won thanks Alec

      Well done. It is always nice to win at county level, you never get an easy game, so you must have been pleased.

    Thanks for this incredibly helpful set of videos Alec. You explain everything so clearly. I am new to bowls and your videos have given me a really solid understanding of the rules, what I can expect from a club, and how to play. A great resource. So well thought out. Thank you.

    Thank you! I’m playing in a singles club match today - the other side of the world in New Zealand, on fast greens after playing all season on UK slower heavier greens, so as a novice 3 year player these tips are very useful to me. We’re on the North island for an extended holiday and enjoy the relaxed fun atmosphere over here, also hope to get some Kiwi coaching 😊👍 Thank you for your great bowls coaching video series.

      Thanks for the reply. I hear NZ is a wonderful place, it would be great to go there, but I doubt I will make it. It is great to play in different places, especially different countries. I am very envious. Enjoy.

    Those aeroplanes flying over must have been infuriating whilst trying to give us a lesson in lawn bowls as I did hear you say under your breath (effing hell) 😂😂😂. Keep up the good work.

    You are damn right, I have no idea what I was doing. Too heavy all the time and did not quite know how to throw it lighter. Tried, but

      Judging weight (power) can be hard. Try reducing arm swing for shorter lengths, but longer arm swing for longer lengths.

    How many bowls can you play on the trial end....just the 2 that you show in the video?

    • @wargameshobby
      @wargameshobby หลายเดือนก่อน

      Mostly it is two bowls, but when you use four bowls in a game (singles and pairs) you can use all four. 👍

    Alec , if you move the mat quite away up the rink , as far as you are allowed, do you have to change your point of aim , more narrow than a mat further back , I played my 1st league game & was doing well till they won the mat & moved it right up & it put me off couldn’t seem to get it right

      Hi Colin, yes, the line will be slightly different depending on the length to the jack, but only a very small adjustment is needed. It's worth practicing with two jacks, one short and one long and seeing the difference.

      I too start indoors next week. I quite like the speed indoors, once I get the hang of it. 😆

      @@LawnBowlsforFun the first few ends are always fun and potentially dangerous-I hope they have extra padding on the ditches for me !!!

      @@chrishaines8206 the first few games are certainly challenging. It takes me several games to get any consistency, but after that I quite enjoy it. I have had two roll ups so far, but our leagues start Monday, so the serious bowls now begin. 😀

    Supposing the person being challenged has a genuine reason for not being able to make all 3 dates, for example a holiday already booked. Would you have to concede then?

    • @LawnBowlsforFun
      @LawnBowlsforFun  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Robin,
      It depends. Say for example the challenger gave you three choices but all the same week. That is unreasonable, so you could appeal to the competition committee. However, if he gave you three dates spread out over three weeks and you were on holiday two of them but could not make the other date because you had an unchangeable appointment, then that is just bad luck and you would have to concede. Sometimes, it is very hard to find three dates to give, so it is unreasonable to ask for more if you can’t play those dates. Over the years I have had to concede games, it is hard, and annoying, but it happens. Lastly, if you know when the finals are being held, and you know you cannot play that day, then don't enter in the first place, you cannot expect finals dates to be changed, it is unreasonable to expect that. Again, tough, but that's how it is. 😬
