This version of Kill At Command is amazing! Magical stuff!
the two first demos and the" feel the fire " lp are the ultimate OVERKILL )))) shit !!!
So RAW my skin burns!!
Greatest thrash band to exist, staying strong since the '80's.
agreed
greatest and don't forget, the first
@Jimi Hendrix venom was before Overkill but they were considered NWOBHM. Thrash was a U.S. genre. It is well documented that metal church made the first thrash metal songs but they were without vocals and were not really a group at the time. Overkill was a group with vocals and predated all others.
@Jimi Hendrix Exodus were definitely around before Metallica but if you listen to their old demos, they were Maiden clones. Thrash has its main roots in punk and that is why Overkill almost single handedly invented thrash. Their members were in punk bands and wanted to mix that sound with NWOBHM. They were a fully formed thrash metal band in 1981. Lars was still a fanboy playing tennis with daddy at this point. The reason Overkill does not get the credit they deserve is because their first full length was delayed and they are not "BAY AREA". As noted before, Metal church has a claim on being the first and they were actually "BAY AREA", (before moving to Washington). They predated all Bay area thrash but for some it's difficult labeling them thrash because of the sound that they evolved into and the fact that they did not have a singer on their first demo.
@@cdrich1648 overkill were just a Motorhead cover band until 82 which was around the same time Metallica and Exodus became thrash.
this band has been brutal since the start. hope they stay around at least 15 more yrs. the fucking best!
Garaged band sound cover song on point in 1985
Hearing demos like this takes me back to when this shit was still very underground. The battle lines were being drawn and the fucking posers were about to be put on notice! In '85 there was no stopping it!!!
one of the best debuts what is ever made a whole thrash metal history and in this planet, definitely masterpiece!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wow Blitz had a thick accent!
Damn they tuned high in those days!
and thats whats nice
wish I still had this.. bought this in Staten island 30+ years ago
you'd be rich if you had that today
... legendary OVERKILL 🇺🇲 (formerly VIRGIN KILLER 🇺🇲) from the USA, Thrash-Metal institution ... 🤘 🇺🇲
Rat Skates was one of the best drummers ever. Dude had to have been in a marching band when younger to have that militant, blasting drumming style. Never heard anything else like it except Slayer's Kill Again and a few off Show No Mercy. Only really listen to the records with him though some of the newer ones are really good./I remember a friend from NY I went to school with in KY had to turn his Overkill shirt inside out because of the logo and Blood Metal Donors. I got in trouble for a Metallica Metal up your Ass shirt around the same time too (85). My Exodus Slay Team shirt went unnoticed.😆
In the 90s I was told to flip my Butthole Surfers shirt inside out and my Deicide Legion shirt.
I heard this demo before the album, way back. This is the better version of the song, compared to the album, I think.
Best version...this brings back memories
Best metal band to come out of NJ....Period

What ever happened to Bobby's accent?
So superior to the debut album!
Feel the Fire is much better than the album version
Excellent quality for a demo OVERKILL !! I have to admit when I first saw Feel the Fire in stores the cover did not entice me and I dismissed them UNTIL I saw them open for SLAYER in 1986 They were awesome and I went right out to buy it!

Anyone know where this show was recorded?
The NY accents are great
The song Feel The Fire I prefer the album version, however the live versions of Second Son and Kill at Command is some of the best stuff I've ever heard. They both sound way darker than the studio recordings and Blitz's vocals during the chorus of Kill at Command are absolutely vicious.
