My buddy and I were talking about doing the buddy system for this specific contract. Do the two year security and three year infantry. I'm going to show him this video to see if he's game. This is something I would feel a sense of pride in.
@@joshuathornhill8168 well, in the case of my son score really shitty on the ASVAB and have your Dad come into the recruiters office with you to beg them to keep you out of Cook, Arty and Infantry for 4 years. I guess 2 years as a ground pounder is a small price to pay.
You can definitely do the MG contract. Just recognize you have a higher chance of ending up as Security Forces, rather than as a Marine Security Guard. There is a difference and it is all up to chance that you have zero influence on. You'll give yourself a much better chance at MSG by becoming an 03xx (or any MOS for that matter) first, perform your duties well i.e. no NJP/6105. Once you hit your 12-18 months time-on-station (time at your primary duty station), apply for MSG. This does several things for you: 1.) You won't have the heartbreak of the green weenie fucking with your plans, at least initially. 2.) You will experience three separate embassies, rather than two. 3.) You will come into the fleet as a "boot" first, experience your MOS and then seek the joys of MSG. Rather than showing up [likely] as an NCO who has nothing to contribute and will be treated like a newbie. Take it from me as a Sergeant who showed up to an infantry battalion with zero MOS experience. It was not a fun growing experience. Try fleet stuff first, THEN go and experience the benefits of Marine Security Guard.
@@VarzaHD im not going to ask why I should be a marine because I know that if I even have to ask the question, the answer is I shouldn’t. But if you could pick one reason why I shouldn’t become a marine, what would it be?
@@drusanchez3287 Family. The absolute hardest thing on most Marines is being away from home and their family. Depending on your job, it is very very limited on how often you’re going to get to see them. I say this from personal experience. I was 17 years old, enlisted into the Marines and was ready to leave at 18. I wanted nothing more then to leave and get away from my family because I thought they “cared too much”. I was wrong. Being in for the almost 3 years I have now, there is absolutely nothing more I regret then the way I was towards my family. I took their love and care for granted. You’d be very surprised, but this issue is one of the the most common in the Marines. Being “Homesick”. It causes you to feel alone, it causes depression, and that effects your job and the overall mission. I will tell you this, and other Marines will as well. The best way to deal with this, is to make friends. Good, and very close friends. Having a brotherhood, and a group of these friends that you know have your back will make you feel less alone. They will become your family away from your family, and the single reason you don’t feel lonely. You know these Marines are struggling with the same things you are, and the only way to help is to be there for each other. I’m not trying to convince you not to join, if anything I encourage you enlisting. It takes only the strongest men and females to deal with these types of issues. We are Marines. You will be trained to suppress and overcome all of your doubts and fear. Just remember, once they catch up to you, and I promise you they will, you need to control them before they take control of you. Good luck Killer, if you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask.

Wow, back in 95 I carried a .357 S&W.
Yeah when I was on post from 2000 to 2003 only a few posts had M-4’s.
Why isn't anyone talking about collats and the huge emphasis on those. I hope they got their. Crap together and actually focus on the primary mission.

As soon as I finish ITB I should be headed up to Quantico. Pretty fucking excited.
How did it go for you? I’m currently at ITB
So far no dumb commies have disliked. Good
Don't worry, I am sure some antifa loon will dislike......

Doesn't work that way, focus on enlisting first and earning your EGA. It's a long way to be a MSG
Bryan lopez thanks I sure will

Makes me wanna be MSG, but too bad EVERY Marine wants to be MSG.

IT is a really tough selection process

Its a B billet NOT a mos

What happens if I’m married have a son and this is the job I want? Does my family come with me ?
Yes
Only Detachment Commanders (Staff NCOs) can be married with dependents. Watchstanders sign an agreement to remain unmarried throughout MSG Duty.
Then you get dropped and go to the fleet 👍
