Pokemon you get in multiplayer events are locked 1 way or the other to stop people just abandoning the event if they didnt get the shiny. Imagine trying to get Walking Wake if 99% of you time your team quit the moment they saw it wasnt shiny.
@@j.corbygaming Hacking is so controversial. There are cases where I think its okay. If you have a very sentimental pokemon you can't transfer for whatever reason (like its on the OG cartridges or something), recreating it through hacks is fine. It's not hurting anyone. The real issue is with comp. Hacking really feels like cheating there but, to give an example, Enamorous. If you really want it on your team you have to play through the entirety of Arceus and play the absolutely horrible catching mini game to get it. That's at least 4 hours of investment for a single pokemon but probably more since most people aren't speedrunners. And ideally you at least want it with low atk IVs but if you get one with really really high atk and crap other stats... well then either you have to restart or live with it. Then you have to grind for bottle caps which, thank god, you can buy in SV and then spend another hour minimum EV training it. And that's just one pokemon. You have to do this for a team of 6. And depending on the pokemon you want you might have to go out and purchase entirely different games and play for hours and then grind to get one with the right stats/nature/etc you want. At the very least we have showdown to actually test teams. Imagine doing all that and then realizing that the pokemon you just spent 5 hours getting is the wrong fit for the team. Imagine balancing that against a job and bills and possibly even kids of your own. Hacking is against the rules. But I can absolutely sympathize with the desire to. If Nintendo wants to stop hacking at events, they should have the in-event players construct teams like in showdown and then the tournament organizers turn it into a rental team for them to use during the tournament. That way there is no unfairness. Everyone has access to the same perfect pokemon and winning has everything to do with strategy. Edit: Grammar
@@j.corbygaming hacking does nothing to competitive play. If a hacked pokemon has viable stats moves and abilities they are indistinguishable from a regular caught pokemon. All it does is save time when team building. Secondly shiny rarity is artificial anyways, there is no real world value tied to virtual monsters with a different colour palette. They are little bits of data. So who cares? Really?
My only issue with shiny "un-locking" via events is that they are usually one time only events. It makes it that more special sure, but also puts down the stress of having to pay attention to any an all events that possibly may be happening at all times.
@@CastersvarogYou cannot get a shiny Ultra Necrozma at all unless you have a Japan-only event Shiny Necrozma. Necrozma is huntable in SwSh but no Z-Crystals means no Ultra Necrozma.
The galar bird trio is a big offender of this, only being available after participating in 3 different online battle events over 3 months, and only having the battles take place over the last weekend of each month. All right after the release of Legends Arceus
I personally hate the idea of shiny locking Pokemon, mainly because it feels like its trying to use FOMO. They have cool shinies like Koraidon or Chi-Yu, but they're not available in game. Meaning you need to wait for an event that comes out so you can get one. Meaning you have to constantly be up to date with Pokemon news otherwise you'll miss out on the cool shiny. That entire time Pokemon will be feeding you useless news that does nothing more than waste your time.
The same can be said of pokemon introduced mid-generation. Or just new generations in general, where up to a 150 new pokemon could be added at once. Personally, I don't mind missing the odd shiny. However, when multiple pokemon are involved then the need to complete that dex is much greater.
This whole schtick is part of why I fell out of favor with the games - unless you're able to participate in every event, you physically CAN'T collect every pokemon, and can't get the shiny versions of a lot of those pokemon. Which is especially heartbreaking for some of those legendaries whose alternate colors are better than their base palette to you.
@@DarkestVoidif people discussing a pointless obnoxious mechanic in a game they enjoy upsets you. I think its you who needs to leave the fanbase. Shiny locks don't ruin the experience not one person is saying that. there is just no point for things to be shiny locked at all. Is your experience made ANY better by some shinies not being available in game? No? it just makes shiny hunters experience worse? Neat! great game design.
the people who would be disappointed by missing out on the shiny event Pokémon are probably people who are just way to into the game, most casual players probably would not care to much since its just a different color of a pokemon they could probably already get, i have a few freinds that dont care at all about missing out on the shiny zeraura event that happened a few years ago
It doesn't make sense for the Returning Legendaries in the Indigo Disk to be Shiny Locked when they weren't Shiny Locked in the Previous Game via Dynamax adventures! This also applies to the Blueberry Academy's hidden Meloetta encounter. How to fix the overworld issue? Have the game decide whether of not to have the Legendaries be shiny when you get the Snack from Snacksworth! Edit: after reading the comments I think I have a better Idea, You fight them the first time where they're shiny locked, beat them, and then every attempt after is NOT Shiny Locked.
@@morphstarchangeling8024 I did think about that, but given that all of the returning Legendaries are static encounters in the overworld, it's be so freaking weird to Walk up to a Pure White Solgaleo and then as soon as you say hi he turns bright red. I suppose a better alternative would be deciding if they're shiny before we enter Render Distance...
Yeah rather them have no shinnies then lock them. It’s like wow look at what you could have jk maybe in some one day event if you drive out to one of our partners and that’s if that store is participating.
If you have seen the Gengar shiny color in the anime you'd know that the solution for most 'bad' shinies is to let the anime interpret the game color and then just apply that to the games
One thing that’s always bothered me about shiny locking Pokémon is that it feels like it goes against what Pokémon stands for. What I mean by that is Pokémon has always been about possibilities, no two play throughs will be the same. By removing part of the possibility of someone finding something rare like that is just backwards towards the meaning of a game being it’s own separate universe. The likelihood of a kid finding a shiny starter randomly is very low but never impossible, and I would like to believe that it made a great memory for whoever that was.
Shiny hunting is one of my favorite parts other than the competeive scene, I like to make teams for ranked by shiny hunting for a whole team to use, its personally what keeps me interested in the game. Legendaries being shiny locked takes away the fun of creating teams for me, especially when pokemon home and the dlc came out where its hard to use a team with non- legendary pokemon and get anywhere with it.
It also means you can breed every breedable pokemons shiny from male red gyrados, femal and male ekans, female+male meowth or eevee. And if you were lucky enough to get gen 2 on 3ds can pass them up to home
In the first two Gens, IVs were called DVs (or Deter Values) and unlike IVs, DVs "deter"-mined pretty much everything about a given Pokemon Including whether or not that Pokemon was Shiny With this knowledge, you can, in theory, Shiny Hunt in Gen 1 even though Shiny Pokemon wasn't a thing back in those days
I also think part of the reason for shiny locking has to do with Pokemon GO. In those games, you can obtain previously shiny locked Mythical Pokemon through..paid events or buying enough raid passes to finally get one.
Yeah, unfortunately shiny locking was definitely done to hold collectors and shiny hunters by the balls so they shell out more money when the opportunity arises. You can't argue with the results, but it's damn demoralizing when a variant of a pokemon is hidden behind an additional, time limited paywall
But, from what I understand, there was actually a glitch in gen 1 that could rarely cause it to fail. (The same glitch also affected moves that could never miss, such as Swift)
@@digifreak90 This is incorrect. For one thing, the catch algorithm and the move calculation algorithm are entirely separate, so no single glitch could affect both like that. Now, it is true that, in the Japanese Red and Green Versions (and maybe the Japenese Blue Version), Swift might have been affected by the 1/256 glitch, but this was never the case for any of the non-Japanese games. It is also true that, if an attack was resisted by both of the foe’s types and the damage calculation yields 0, the move is erroneously said to miss the target (though this wouldn’t have affected Swift as, prior to Gen II, only one type (Rock) resisted Normal-type moves). However, no Pokémon game has ever had a glitch that had any chance of causing the Master Ball to fail. This is just a common misunderstanding. Swift bypasses all accuracy checks in Gen I (at least the non-Japanese ones), and no type combination resists it twice, so it never misses; the Master Ball bypasses all the calculations done in the catch algorithm, so it literally cannot fail unless you try to use it on a trainer’s Pokémon. The myth comes from the 1/256 glitch, which causes moves with 100 accuracy to have a 1/256 chance of missing. See, the accuracy check for moves works by generating a number between 0 and 255, inclusive, and compares that to the result of the accuracy calculation (the move’s accuracy value (255 for moves with 100% accuracy), a multiplier for modifications to the user’s accuracy, and a multiplier for modifications to the target’s evasion). If the random number is less than the calculated value, the move hits; otherwise, the move misses. Because 255 is not less than 255, generating that number would cause even 100% accuracy moves to miss. However, Swift bypasses all accuracy checks (in non-Japanese Gen I games, this even includes the ones that cause moves to miss Pokémon that just used Fly or Dig), so it is unaffected by that glitch. (Incidentally, using an X Accuracy on a Pokémon causes all its moves to bypass accuracy checks, too, which also avoids the glitch.) This doesn’t affect anything else, though. For one thing, the catch algorithm is specifically designed to never guarantee a capture (except when using the Master Ball), so the value to check against would basically never be 255 in the first place. Additionally, again, Master Balls bypass all the calculations; if it gets used, the game doesn’t even generate any random numbers and just determines that the capture succeeds immediately.
@@digifreak90nope, the glitch you are talking about is chance based, the master ball is rigged to always catch before any checks are done. That's also why the master ball glitch clone doesn't have the 100% catch chance
I kinda have the feeling that Gamefreak has taken what were logical shiny-locking's at first and then kept using them on Pokemon that shouldn't have gotten them
there were never any logical shiny locks the entire reason shiny locks started in the first place is because they did not want you to get to a point in the story and start soft resetting for a shiny legendary instead of playing the game . basicly the developers want you to play the way they intended and only the way they intended . this is why we can't turn off exp share its not because it would take extra time to code because its literally two lines of code it's because they don't want you to play that way
@@kotzer71as an amateur DM, forcing players to play how you wanted is such a shitty practice, and one I've mistakenly committed to a few times before I wisened up. Players will always find a way to traverse a game or story that you couldn't predict, and flat out saying "No! You can't do that, you're ruining the game" just stops the fun factor. It's sad to see Nintendo take that no-fun path, whether because it's more convenient or to make a little extra cash or both.
A lot of shiny hunters have a story from their youth where they freaked out because they thought their game was glitched when they really got a shiny pokemon. They turn the game off, the shiny is lost, and years later they know what happened. This spurred me on to do a reclaim hunt for Spinda in pokemon Ruby. Shiny locking may be there to prevent these cases, but why? I look back on that fondly, it wasn't/isn't an issue, it's a chance to revisit something where I otherwise wouldn't. It's not like there are prominent battle facilities nowadays, the true postgame -is- shiny hunting for a lot of people, myself included. The legendaries being shiny locked in Scar/Vio is heartbreaking, one of the main reasons I got the DLC was because I wanted to shiny hunt Spectrier and Glastrier. There's no way to hunt them, so I don't really see a reason to catch them. I already have their non-shiny forms in Shield, why would I bother catching them again? Some may argue that this is one of the things GF wants to avoid; making legendaries not appealing because they can't be shiny. I agree with the reasoning, but only for new legendaries. There's 0 reason to shiny locked already released legendaries because we already have access to those legendaries in their intended settings! If it's a post game treat, there's no reason for it to be shiny locked! An argument could be made that newer players will have access to these legendaries for the first time in these games, but even then I don't think anyone would complain about randomly getting a shiny legendary. Also shiny events suck. I didn't hunt this shiny pokemon, I didn't really do anything for it but input a code or just check the mystery gift. There's no point! The point of shiny hunting is the hunt! There's no special moment associated with it, so the only reason I would bother is to check a box on the shiny living dex. This applies to event pokemon in general though, I don't like the concept of just getting a pokemon from the internet with nothing around it. The Zeraora event from Sw/Sh was a perfect example of fixing the issue. By having the event be a community-driven raid event, the special moment became less about shiny hunting and more about overcoming a difficult challenge and being rewarded with something cool at the end. This is also why the Ogre Oustin' shiny munchlax works for me, that minigame was BRUTAL and me and my friends had a blast playing it. Shiny locking pokemon strips away special moments before they happen in favor of a uniform experience. I don't like it, and I don't think there's a good reason to do it.
keep in mind that zygarde was shiny locked for 2 straight gens until being given away in an event, and gen 8 is currently the only way he can be shiny hunted. and sure people hate shiny locks and say that it should "stop", but tbh it never bothered me personally as i rarely ever shiny hunt
Interesting that you show the Ash Caps, as all but one is shiny locked. Within Ultra Sun/Moon you are able to Shiny Hunt the Partner Cap one you get from the Movie's QR code (Due to a bug with the game checking your Trainer Secret Value instead of the OT "Ash" of 1009. So as long as your TSV isn't 1009 you can encounter it shiny)
d2780 As someone who shiny hunted it and has brought it over all the way to SV I can fully verify that. Unlike GO, they never gave the model a proper shiny texture, it's just the same non shiny texture copied and pasted.
I appreciate the attention to detail at 1:50 of having all the Unown of the alphabet at the bottom, minus the ones that floated up to spell *The Phrase*.
Loved the background story of Lockstin having dinner with Gnoggin. And little Easter eggs hiding outside the window The amount of care and imagination that goes into every one of these video, even the ones that seem like they just needed to crank something out to stay in the algorithm is why this channel is one of my favorites
My personal theory as to why GameFreak shiny lock Pokemon is due to consistency They don’t want Pokemon showing up in cutscenes or box art to show one design only for the Pokemon to be a different colour when it becomes catchable for the player
@@GothAtheist Honestly I disagree, especially with the important legendaries in SV. They're supposed to be like, specific characters not random examples of that species. I can definitely understand the disappointment with the snack legendaries being shiny locked, but I do think it's a good choice for the story-heavy ones
@@GothAtheist Eh, it's like Maxwell said… they would hard on the story, which they didn't exactly have in early gens, the least the player can do is play the story regularly… and it's not like they'll be shiny locked forever… there are events…
0:42 is straight up wrong because the masterball works differently, it's always rigged to catch, ignoring the chance calculation. That also means that item 132(the glitch master ball clone) doesn't have the 100% chance, since it's always hardcoded for the exact item id of a master ball
Another fun fact, shiny locking started in Pokemon XD Gale of Darkness. The shadow pokemon are shiny locked. Funny enough, in Pokemon Colosseum players found out the shadow pokemon could be shiny hunted (as the shiny value is recalculated after catching).
My current take is that it has to do with making a Pokemon a set spawn effectively "skips" the chances for a Pokemon to be rolled shiny So kinda like with Gen 2, it's not a direct choice but a result of something else putting a Pokemon in the over world or in cutscenes shiny locks it, the Switch era is what solidified it for me as most legendaries in SWSH are shiny locked but not Regieleki and Regidrago the 2 that don't have any cutscene appearances Why they've handled returning legendaries the way they did in Gens 6, 7, and 8 with the Hoopa portals, Ultra Warpride, and Dynamax adventures, keeping them out of the overworld and cutscenes so they can be shiny those times which further explains why they did it that way 3 gens straight, which is why they aren't in SV they put them in the over world this time because people complained they weren't doing that
@OtisCluck in practice it does make them less rare not even including things that boost rates just the fact that you can have 15 pokemon spawned at once without battling any of them makes it so much more likley to find one without even trying the 1/4096 does not mean a whole lot when you can encounter over 100 a min
@@OtisClucksay that to the boxes of shinies I have in Shield, Legends Arceus, and Violet. Face it, shinies aren't as valuable anymore. The only valuable shinies most people consider now are shinies from Gen 5 and below.
I thought you’d be mentioning how they are probably shiny locking legendaries to make people play Pokémon Go to get them, considering how they locked old legendaries in SV.
@@DragmiredrawsSo much so that we now have a separate category called “legal” because the hacked Pokémon can fool the system by being a duplicate of a legit pokemon.
@@DarkestVoid That’s not what I meant by that, instead of having the option to legally get a shiny, now people are required to hack it order to get a shiny thus, cause more cheating overall than if they made it available
@@DarkestVoid Yeah, that’s why I said legal Pokémon. People can hack and/or duplicate them in because they know which ones are completely shiny locked.
As someone who shiny hunts a lot, I hate shiny locks. Mostly because receiving a shiny legendary from an event isn't satisfying, compared to finding them yourself. I'm always really excited to get a shiny through my hard work that I put in, weather it be from soft rests, runaway methods, chaining, overworld encounters, or even RNG manipulation. Not to mention that most the mon that are shiny locked don't really have good shinies, with some exceptions. Personally I think that shiny locking hinders replayablity, the only reason why I go back to SwSh is to shiny hunt in Dynamax adventures. Not to mention we've been waiting over a decade for some shinies to be officially released (Ex: Victini). I honestly think that it's a bit lazy and unfair to release shiny locks for limited time events, not everyone has the same access to games stores, enough time for the event, etc.
And resetting for a shiny a million times is any more exciting? The only time shinies are exciting is when you randomly find them. Shinies are too easy now and I find shiny locks to not be a bother whatsoever. Not to mention events aren’t really in person anymore. They’re all on Mystery Gift over the internet now. Too many entitled fucks in this fanbase.
This is why, unless there's a new method of getting Meltan and Zarude, I'll never be able to get a full Home dex which means no shiny version of my all-time favorite legendary Magearna. I also wasn't able to play until after the shiny Gholdengo event was long finished.
I want to tackle some of the arguments in favor of shinylocking The main one is for Pokémon that are either in the overworld or in cutscenes as not shiny. This rule has been broken several times, most recently in BDSP where literally nothing is locked, but also in Let's Go, Ultra Sun/Moon (where all the ultra beasts have cutscenes but aren't locked) and the Crown Tundra (where the Swords and the Regis weren't locked, but the galarian birds were) Let's Go is an interesting case, which ties into the Snorlax example. Snorlax is clearly visible in the overworld, and isn't shinylocked. As a matter of fact, nothing is. Even Mewtwo, arguably the most story-relevant Pokémon in the game, with a pre-rendered cutscene, isn't locked. The only exception is the starter, which has a unique model and can even be customized somewhat. It's the only case where the game has to care about a Pokémon being shiny or not after you catch it, because of its cutscenes. It's impossible to know GameFreak's true intentions, but it is believable that some locked Pokémon were locked as a marketing ploy. The galarian birds were one of the only things locks in the Crown Tundra, and that's because they were given away as rewards for joining online battles. There are also examples of shinies being given away as promos for movies, as you mentioned. I think this is a much more believable reason than the "cutscene consistency" argument Also Cosplay Pikachu has shiny models that are totally unused
I can't really say much for the rest of the points made, but I'm pretty sure BDSP didn't have shiny locking because they're "faithful remakes" of games made before shiny locking was a concept.
Except the Manaphy egg. Yes, it was shiny locked in the og but only for it to lose the lock when traded off because its only coded to not appear as a shiny for the first person receiving it. In BDSP, it locked entirely... so much for being "faithful". @lunathegodkiller6539
While clearly not the focus of the video, I'd just like to point out that the Master Ball in Gen 1 can never fail. By using a Master Ball, it completely bypasses the capture check. A Master Ball has never, and will never be able to fail to capture a wild Pokémon.
I used to shiny hunt in sun and moon while watching Netflix shows, it was really fun watching the office and doing sos battles because it helped me with my adhd. It gave me a physical stimulate to passively do to help me from getting bored or distracted from the show. Now it’s become a bit of a hobby I enjoy.
I have one shiny, a shiny relicanth in an Emerald cartridge that I transferred to Black and White. The same cartridge did the worst thing: a shiny Jolteon in the Battle Pyramid. Otherwise, never seen a shiny. So you are not alone, Lockstin.
My first (and currently only shiny) is a Mightyena that I caught as a Poochyena in Emerald. I've been transfering it up through the later games for years.
Lets be honest, the real reason is because "coding is hard" and its much easier just to release an event down the line that makes them shiny. Indigo disk datamine really shed some light on how and why gamefreak shiny locks. To make a long story short, with how static encounters work in SCVT gamefreak chose the easier option of just locking them all instead removing a select few mainly because how the game handles battle encounters/spawns since the map is a seemless overworld. Versus something like pla where spawns are predetermined the moment you enter the zone.
Interestingly Mass & Massive Mass Outbreak spawns in L:A are predetermined the moment you return to Jubilife Village, meaning you can turn off autosave, go to every outbreak, and decide which is the best to choose (especially if one of the first spawns are shiny)
I'm being serious, please don't tell me the reason is "uwu programming an open world game is biting off more than we could chew" :/ where can I find out the exact reasons the map messes with those encounters? I'm curious
@@romanaww it’s not so much that the map messes with the encounters but rather that because they are overworld encounters, they opted for having them show up the same all the time instead of giving them a spawn animation that would make sense for them to be able to be shiny (like Dynamax Adventures made more sense). They could’ve had them appear through a wormhole or through an actual animation (as they should) but that’s too much work.
@@romanaww I dont remember their exact twitter handle but i believe its something "Kurt Kaphotics" but basically he's one of the main dataminers for when dlc or mainline games come out, there are others too Matt I believe who he usually links info towards. You would probably have to go through alot of their old posts (specifically mentioning pla) and compare but its interesting to see how different the data is for these games. For example as another comment pointed out in the thread in pla you can force shiny encounters because how they are determined in your home village vs how they are set up in a cone of influence in SCVT since the game is always fully loading in the map. Kaphotics was one of the first people to get this information out with a full spawn table and everything back in the day.
My thing is that if they actually want to shiny lock for event purposes that's FINE, but if that event is just a stupid mystery code giveaway, its awful. I want to EARN them, not get them from a random code. If that means I have to breed for an egg or do a tough raid battle I'm fine with that, but putting in a code just so i can get a shiny rayquaza makes no sense and I didn't earn that trophy.
100%! When I was a kid, my friend entered a local tournament and said he made it pretty far until a guy with a black Rayquaza sweeper his team. That guy earned that Rayquaza, GameShark was a thing back then, but more than likely, he reset his game a bunch to get that shiny. Shiny locking legendaries just makes the totally real shinies asking for a very common Pokémon on Home more prevalent. Why is that option more rewarding than just typing a code…..because typing a code is boring, there’s no story behind it. Idk why GF doesn’t realize that
@@DragmiredrawsIt gets boring, honestly. I did like that Zeraora event they did in Sword and Shield where, if a million players beat Zeraora dens, they’d give the participants a shiny Zeraora.
@@christopherbennett5858 I did that one too, I’m not really a fan of Zeraura, tbh, it’s a very lazy design imo, but if someone wants a Pokémon in a different color, why’re the devs arbitrarily making unobtainable, in these games?
I think for SV, the main reason for shiny locking is possibly the fact that there is no transition screen between cutscene, OW, Battle and capturing transfer and they weren't able to figure out how to code it properly so they just decided to lock it. I'm hoping theyre able to figure out how to allow us to hunt them in gen 10. Even if its just another "max raid den" situation. For other shinies being locked, I do think that anything that is heavily involved in the story makes sense as well. Sucks, but it makes sense for them to use them for cutscenes and then suddenly change.
This is most likely the case as whenever they previously bought back returning legendaries they kept them out of the overworld (Hoopa portals, Ultra Warp Ride, Dynamax Adventures) and they were able to be shiny there and it would explain why they kept doing it that way
I think what could work is to make the first encounter of a "Shiny Locked" pokemon to be impossible to be shiny the first encounter. So that way, those who are playing casually will get the pokemon, how it looked on the box arts. However, once you soft reset, the shows that you are trying to shiny hunt (as there isn't much of a reason to soft reset if you are a casual player), so this restriction would be turned off. I don't even think this could be that difficult to implement, they could just do a similar that the older Animal Crossing games did were, when you load your save file, a switch is turned off and when you save and quit, this switch is turned off. But if you turn the console off and then turn it back on, this switch will still be turned on and when the game detects this, it would know that you quit without saving and tell you. Similarly, when you encounter a "Shiny Locked" pokemon, it turns a switch on and this switch isn't turned off until the encounter is over. So if you soft reset, this switch will still be on and when this switch is on, the pokemon can be shiny. The switch will turn on a second once the pokemon is shown, so that the first encounter can't be shiny. I think this method would probably satisfy both parties who do and don't want shiny locks.
That’s one of the more annoying things about the dlc, just a single game and dlc ago you could get any of these Mons shiny, but now they deny players that because gamefreak reasons
After watching this it does make sense in a way for why shiny locking exists because of the whole "Play the game stop reseting bs" but that what shiny pokemon in this case are actually special some of which you can only get once some probably from time to time. But its not a very on point logical reason really. For example for poeple who gotten the Shiny Celebi to promote the Zarude movie those codes needed to be picked up, which doesnt seem to difficult but there are those who dont have access to certain locations so people take the spare codes and scalp and sell them online and from what I saw at the time they were going for $10 USD to $150 USD. This also was a big issue with Shiny Zacian and Zamazenta same prices and all. Then of course there is also Pokemon GO in which events like Shiny mew, celebi or any of the mythics people can't really access them without the special ticket event quests which also those quests are tediously stupid, it would cost a person 5USD or even more, and finally location of the person cause they could be out in the middle nowhere and would possibly resort to Spoofing (which is not really a problem imo but still again tedious).
I really hope GameFreak's reason for shiny locking isn't: "We want you to play the game, enjoy the story, and you can't do that when you're resetting for hours and hours trying to get your starter to be shiny". The most important thing to ANY company should be, that the customer is constantly using their product. If I am spending hours of my time shiny hunting my starter, then that's hours I'm spending PLAYING your game, GameFreak! As long as I'm on your game, why should it matter to you that the first thing I want to do, is spend hours shiny hunting my starter? You should be encouraging that way of play, GameFreak! (At least if you were smart, you would.)
you get access to breeding very early in swsh and sv, so if you want a shiny starter that badly you can do it that way. Its less "we're forcing you to play the game how we want you to" and more "at least play the first 10 minutes before you go crazy with shiny hunts"
@nataliecoronado4206 Huh uh, that's telling the player how to play, if I wanna soft reset a shiny starter, by god I'm gonna do so, and being told, "oh well you can breed instead", like breeding and soft resetting are the same thing, it shows you've completely missed the point.
@@nataliecoronado4206And no, it's literally "Play the game how we want you to", obviously no one has the right to tell the player how to play, how long to play, or anything like that, it's rude, condescending, and completely ruins the POINT of these games for us hunters.
@@nataliecoronado4206 That doesn't excuse all the other shiny locks, such as the Snorlax that was mentioned in the video. Do you mean to tell me, that it makes sense for the X&Y over-world Snorlax to be shiny locked, but the 2 over-world Snorlax in FR/LG can be shiny hunted all day long?
Random idea: What if instead of saving shinies for events, what if there was a third form of a Pokemon? And this third form will also just have a different color palette, just like a regular shiny? For example, Greninja has a black shiny. What if there was a purple shiny to match its tera poison event raid battle, so there’s the regular blue, the shiny black, and the purple event Greninja.
They need to bring back that feature from stadium where pokemon have multiple shiny forms, and you can change which one, depending on different special name cheat codes
Ultra Sun and Moon were goated simply because of no shiny lock, it was also my first Pokemon game AND bc of a Spanish female dusk Lycanroc the second egg was shiny, I now have a shiny dusk Lycanroc so no USUM bias (edit, I forgot Tapus and totems and box arts, too used to ultra wormhole hunting)
The box legendarys and necrozma are shiny locked, but otherwise yeah, free reign. They really need to stop shiny locking, or at least add another encounter that is not shiny locked
@@GhostmnmThe box legendaries of USUM are indeed shiny locked, I don’t know what experience you’re making up. The whole main trio is, plus all four Tapus, and Zygarde, and all cap Pikachus (except for one), and all Totem Pokémon
I'm pretty sure shiny locking was first done in Pokémon Colosseum with your Espeon and Umbreon, (I could be wrong) and then with its sequel Pokémon XD where practically every Shadow Pokémon was shiny locked.
Still glad my brother challenged me to a Nuzlocke on ORAS early this year, first route 103 encounter was a shiny Poochyena. Third Pokémon of the run was a SHINY. Even got her to Pokémon Violet.
I think in the case of some legendary Pokemon they became shiny locked so the shiny versions could exist as separate Pokemon, like how Black Rayquaza is a thing in the anime and with Genesect there were 5 created while on just happened to get red plating and grey eyes.
The only good reason for shiny locking Pokémon I can think of is if the Pokémon is literally uncatchable, like the trial mons in Sun and Moon for example
I don’t fully remember the details as of how, but during the tail end of 5th gen I got a shiny Meloetta. I think it was a friend over dA chat that had it either hacked or glitched in and of all thing they wanted for it, they wanted a Bidoof named Jésus. So, now, locked on my closely guarded copy of Pokémon White is a shiny that should not exist but does
So outside of that Meloetta, the event shiny Gyrados in Silver and later SS, and a copy of deliver I he commissioned to have that games Pokédex shiny… I haven’t caught one naturally, in the wilds of all the regions of Pokémon… karma? Probably
Actually gen 3 had the first shiny locked Pokémon in the game Pokémon xd. You see in the prequel game colloseum. Shadow Pokémon were rolled for random stats twice. Once while the opponent has it and once when you catch. This led to a funny little bug where your opponent can have a shiny on their team that turns normal after and vice versa. Presumably to avoid that bug, Pokémon XD will actively keep retooling your stats if it sees you’d get a shiny until you no longer have one
Actually gen 1 had the first shiny locked Pokemon. With wild Pokemon in RBY, they would always roll IVs that didn’t match the IVs needed for a shiny. The only Pokemon that weren’t shiny locked were starter Pokemon, gift Pokemon, prize Pokemon, traded Pokemon, glitch Pokemon, and stationary Pokemon such as Legendaries and Electrode.
I’d be so fun if your rival had the ability to have a shiny Pokémon, maybe make the odds for them specifically lower then the default, and then the game would keep the tag for the rest of the game
Pokemon Go is a large culprit of this, granted they have to slowly add everything in, but they'll release pokemon/legends in and then LATER bring them back with their shiny colours
Yes, there are legitimate reasons for some pokémon to be shiny locked. But static legendary encounters that plenty of people look forward to for the sole purpose of obtaining their shinies legitimately? Okay, now that's just ridiculously baffling. P.S. Also, Espeon's shiny is actually good. Overhated to high heaven.
Hey Lockstin, I just wanted to say I love videos that feature Maxill. I love the dynamic between the two of you and it brings me back to the days of great pokemon reset haha.
The Unown thing is a coincidence. Gold and Silver still had the old DV system that ranged from 0 to 15. The IV system we have today that ranges from 0 to 31 was not introduced until Gen III, which means that the developers didn't know what IVs are back then because they weren't anything. The old DV system was part of the reason 7 males to 1 female Pokémon could not have Shiny females. Also, the Master Ball can fail thing is an urban legend, it cannot fail.
People seem to have this misconception, so, when hunting a shiny starter, say it takes a few months, ok, and then you get it. Do you just turn it off now, and never play further? Or, now that you have your shiny soft resetted starter, do you proceed to play the game? Obviously you play, but there seems to be a misconception that you don't. Bottom line, shiny locking the starters is unacceptable, breeding shouldn't EVER be the only option for getting a shiny starter, EVER. The implication that if you're hunting you aren't playing is condescending and imbecilic.
As a shiny hunter, some of the most anticipated hunts I have had for each generation have been for the starters and the legendaries. Sure you can breed a shiny starter later, but it's such a cool feeling to start the game with a shiny starter. It's quite saddening to accept the reality that Game Freak will probably never revert this shiny lock change.
The only shiny locking I totally understand is giveaway Pokemon, since I'm sure nobody wants shiny hunters to completely overtake a server (or real life location) by trying to get a shiny, especially since time and space (digitally and physically) is limited with these events. Otherwise I think shiny locking is really dumb, obviously people love shiny Pokemon and love the gimmick of hunting for rare things in video games, and I'm sure the shiny hunting community has brought a lot of revenue back to the Pokemon Company in various ways to further justify their existence. Plus if you don't like that your one-a-game legendary Pokemon is shiny you can just reset and get a regular colored one right away lol.
Because GameFreak hates us. Starters and the main story legendaries I can live with. And definitely uncatchable pokemon like the first Starly fight in DPPt. But the optional legendaries that are supposed to be a bonus should be fair game. And ffs can we at least change the names of the gift shinies if that’s gonna be the only way of getting them? I love naming my pokemon and all those “event” pokemon forbid me from giving them cool names.
The real question is why they don’t shiny lock special non catchable Pokémon like the tutorial wild Starly in BDSP or Juniper’s Minccino and Cinccino in BW and BW2
Something really weird is that Gamefreak is really against hacking, as seen by their latest tournament drama, but without hacking, there's no way to tell if a Pokemon is shiny locked or not. The odds are way too low that hunting for months nonstop without getting the shiny is still plausible. It's a common issue in many MMORPGs, you're never sure if you have insane bad luck or if you're actually hunting at the wrong place.
an idea which came to me during this video: why not just shiny lock pokemon that only exist once in every universe (save). think about it: why would the pokedex or the public know what the regular pokemon looks like if the only one that exists is shiny? furthermore, the shiny technically wouldnt be shiny since, again, it is the only one, and therefore would be known as the default color.
Shiny-locking's only purpose is that they can "sell" you the shiny later (yes, sell, because events are basically massive advertisements to do stuff that might lead to more sales). It also changes it from 'rare' to a 'handout', but that would also count for guaranteed shinys like Gyarados I guess. So in the end, it's always in bad faith and shouldn't be endorsed.
Getting a shiny legendary is such a massive reward for a huge undertaking. The amount of sheer determination it takes to do that over and over again over again is more than most people have the patience for, and as such, is a HUGE flex to own a legitimate shiny. And then Game Freak decided to remove the fun out of their game so they could MAYBE give you the same shiny legendary as everyone else, with a gimmick trainer name. Not even your own. Kinda like they've been selling us half a Pokedex every game since Sword/Shield, and then making us pay for another 30% of it over two DLCs. That's literally their MO lately. "Hey. Those things you used to enjoy in Pokemon? Like, you know. All of the Pokemon? Or shiny Legendaries? Or post game battle content? Or optional EXP share? Or even Set Mode? We took them out. Maybe we'll let you pay for some of them later." It is depressing as hell to see what's become of something I've loved since I was a child.
Game Freak realized that whoever gives you the starter won't just hand you a shiny one when your rival never can have one. Oh look, Leon had a spare shiny Sobble to give to you. Lol Same goes for most statics and story related Pokémon, they should not be shiny. Ultra Wormhole and Hoopa rings were the best way to have shiny huntable legends imo.
Counterpoint on the whole cutscene vs reality issue: Someone who knows about shiny Pokemon will be excited that they got a shiny anyways, and those who don't know about them will likely ask about it, find out their incredible luck, then have it become a memorable event in Pokemon for them. I also personally hate event shinies. I'm already not too happy about so many event Pokemon simply being given to you like you ordered it online through Pokemon's equivalent to Amazon, I'm not going to be happy with them ALSO diminishing the value of the shiny alternative. There's a reason shiny Gyarados is one of the least impressive shinies to have, even if you actually got one randomly. EVERYONE has one, and when everyone has something "special", then it's no longer special.
Shiny Locking is, ngl, pure stupidity. I looked forward to shiny hunting Raging Bolt/Gouging Fire, I WANTED to shiny hunt Kubfu, Glastrier, and Spectrier, that was the main selling point of the new DLC, shinies that weren't available prior to the DLC. Also, Spiky-Eared Pichu can, in fact, be shiny. It's a, like, 1/200000, but it is technically possible.
@@toumabyakuyaNot really, as the person doing the hunting in the muddle of the story, I see no issue. If you do, maybe you don't have to hunt it, but I assure you, after playing an entry for a decade, hunting in no way affects the story, which you have played through dozens and dozens of times. It's a non-issue, shiny locking is stupid and pointless.
@@toumabyakuya The returning legends have nothing to do wwith the story its basically just a fetch quest for something that will rot in your box after catching
@bigmac3038 Exactly, and say we were talking about BW/2 Zekrom/Reshiram, like, Kyurem wasn't locked, but they were and Victini was, and Victini isn't even story related. By this point, I've played Gen 5 so much I don't even read the text bubbles, know it by heart, and yet my Shiny Zekrom had to be from Hoenn, instead of Unova, because shiny locks. I wanted a shiny Unovan Zekrom, it's pointless to lock shinies at all.
I heard a theory about the reason a lot of the dumb changes are actually because people stream the games. They got rid of the Shift/Set Battle setting because of Nuzlockers, so, if someone brought that reasoning up, I wouldn’t be surprised. We all know how stingy GF can be
Lockstin, I'm surprised you didn't know this, but the Master Ball has never been able to fail. The figure you gave is from a rumor that I believe originated from people misunderstanding how the Master Ball works and assuming it calculates like any other Pokeball, in which case there would be a 1/65,535 chance of failure, which is the stat you gave. However, ironically similar to your explanation of how shiny locking works in code, the game ignores the result of the calculation when using a Master Ball. Master Balls have always been hard coded to guarantee success in any circumstance where the target is able to be caught, ignoring the catch calculation.
It's kind of a weird decision why GameFreak decides to shiny lock certain Pokemon some I do understand such as the main box legendaries and the Starter Pokemon since they probably do that so you can actually play the game but some I've never understood with ones such as Victini, Keldeo and most recently, *every single Legendary Pokemon through Snacksworth Quests* since they literally appear in the overworld much like every other legendary where they haven't been shiny locked. I hope GameFreak does remove the shiny lock in the future, at least the ones that don't make sense, so we can fill in our Shiny Living Dex without there being gaps in them for no real reason.
This is such a bs reasoning that needs to stop, "so you can play the game", what part of shiny hunting by choice isn't playing the game? Feels less like it's "so we can play the game", and more like, "so they have no choice but to play the game how we want them to", and that's stupid af. Stop worrying about how others play the game, it's not up to you, OR GameFreak.
There are Squakabilly on your character’s house on SV, and they gave the game a patch to shiny lock them. I didn’t even know they were catchable, so, the mons they choose to shiny lock doesn’t seem consistent to me
Wolfe Glick and every top player in Pokémon uses hacked Pokémon, those Pokémon had 1 in trillions of odds with perfect IVs and EVs. But here’s the thing, every legendary Pokémon was hacked. Watch a Verlisify video about cheating in Pokémon.
Me, resetting for months for a shiny Squirtle in JP FireRed: I AM playing the game, been playing for months. It's called shiny hunting, it's a perfectly valid way to play the game, get over it
Surprised that this of all channels is buying into the rumor that the Master Ball can fail. It cannot. Even in gen 1. It bypasses any catching formulas and is an automatic success. Also, gift pokemon being shiny locked makes sense to me. I think a lot of NPCs would be far less willing to give that pokemon away if it were a shiny. lol
Considering the NPCs don’t react to your Pokémon being shiny, I wouldn’t mind gift Pokémon to be able to be shiny. Well, I guess there is the one trainer is Alola who uses a shiny Exeggcute.
Gamefreak have said that one reason for shiny locking legendaries is that fighting a legendary pokemon is meant to be a special moment and that reseting for hours ruins this special moment, which is a very stuoid reason

Pokemon you get in multiplayer events are locked 1 way or the other to stop people just abandoning the event if they didnt get the shiny. Imagine trying to get Walking Wake if 99% of you time your team quit the moment they saw it wasnt shiny.
Hacking is not dumb. Its an unfair advantage in competitive and for hacking shinnies, it technically lowers the value of shiny Pokemon.
Shiny ded
@@j.corbygaming hacking does nothing to competitive play. If a hacked pokemon has viable stats moves and abilities they are indistinguishable from a regular caught pokemon. All it does is save time when team building. Secondly shiny rarity is artificial anyways, there is no real world value tied to virtual monsters with a different colour palette. They are little bits of data. So who cares? Really?
My only issue with shiny "un-locking" via events is that they are usually one time only events. It makes it that more special sure, but also puts down the stress of having to pay attention to any an all events that possibly may be happening at all times.

Cry about it. If shiny locks ruin your experience then maybe you need to just leave the fanbase.
@@DarkestVoidif people discussing a pointless obnoxious mechanic in a game they enjoy upsets you. I think its you who needs to leave the fanbase. the people who would be disappointed by missing out on the shiny event Pokémon are probably people who are just way to into the game, most casual players probably would not care to much since its just a different color of a pokemon they could probably already get, i have a few freinds that dont care at all about missing out on the shiny zeraura event that happened a few years ago
My god that would be the most annoying thing to reset.
Or hear me out. It decides if it's shiny when you spawn it.
@@morphstarchangeling8024 I did think about that, but given that all of the returning Legendaries are static encounters in the overworld, it's be so freaking weird to Walk up to a Pure White Solgaleo and then as soon as you say hi he turns bright red. Seems like that was patched. I had a regular shiny Ursaluna in my team during the Bloodmoon battle and in my dex there is no shiny registered.
I don’t do it much but I have been doing those event spawns to get shinies. Mostly because the recent ones have higher odds.
Sandwiches are a godsend.
It’s interesting learning about how Shiny odds interacted with IVs in the early games. I had no idea about that.
Indeed and Gen 2 is the only gen where having a shiny parent can actually increase shiny odds because of IVs.
It also means you can breed every breedable pokemons shiny from male red gyrados, femal and male ekans, female+male meowth or eevee. And if you were lucky enough to get gen 2 on 3ds can pass them up to home
In the first two Gens, IVs were called DVs (or Deter Values) and unlike IVs, DVs "deter"-mined pretty much everything about a given Pokemon
Including whether or not that Pokemon was Shiny
With this knowledge, you can, in theory, Shiny Hunt in Gen 1 even though Shiny Pokemon wasn't a thing back in those days
@@AuracleOfBaconyou can actually use a glitch in the gen one virtual games and a shiny from gen 2 to create shiny dittos
For the record, the Master Ball was hard-coded to never fail. It’s a check done before doing any calculations.
But, from what I understand, there was actually a glitch in gen 1 that could rarely cause it to fail. (The same glitch also affected moves that could never miss, such as Swift)
@@digifreak90
This is incorrect.
I kinda have the feeling that Gamefreak has taken what were logical shiny-locking's at first and then kept using them on Pokemon that shouldn't have gotten them
Or rather... they noticed that they could get money out of it, and so they did.
Completely agree with this!
They're Legendaries and Mythicals.
there were never any logical shiny locks the entire reason shiny locks started in the first place is because they did not want you to get to a point in the story and start soft resetting for a shiny legendary instead of playing the game .
basicly the developers want you to play the way they intended and only the way they intended . this is why we can't turn off exp share its not because it would take extra time to code because its literally two lines of code it's because they don't want you to play that way
@@kotzer71as an amateur DM, forcing players to play how you wanted is such a shitty practice, and one I've mistakenly committed to a few times before I wisened up.
They actually will appear as "Not Shiny", but will have the Shiny Sparkles.
d2780 As someone who shiny hunted it and has brought it over all the way to SV I can fully verify that. Unlike GO, they never gave the model a proper shiny texture, it's just the same non shiny texture copied and pasted.

Yeah… and I could be wrong cause I mashed through it… but does the snack guy in the DLC mention the legendary’s color?
@@CindyHelms He doesn’t, but because of how static encounters work they are shiny locked
Which, ngl, is a very stupid excuse on their part
My current take is that it has to do with making a Pokemon a set spawn effectively "skips" the chances for a Pokemon to be rolled shiny
So kinda like with Gen 2, it's not a direct choice but a result of something else putting a Pokemon in the over world or in cutscenes shiny locks it, the Switch era is what solidified it for me as most legendaries in SWSH are shiny locked but not Regieleki and Regidrago the 2 that don't have any cutscene appearances
Why they've handled returning legendaries the way they did in Gens 6, 7, and 8 with the Hoopa portals, Ultra Warpride, and Dynamax adventures, keeping them out of the overworld and cutscenes so they can be shiny those times which further explains why they did it that way 3 gens straight, which is why they aren't in SV they put them in the over world this time because people complained they weren't doing that
4:02 You think that's bad? Imagine running by chance into both a male shiny combee AND THEN a male shiny salandit...
Does this mean shiny Salamdit aren't as rare
@@reddin-on8mm shiny's are not all that rare anymore
@@kotzer71bullshit, “easier to hunt” is not the same as “not as rare” the normal odds are still 1/4096
@OtisCluck in practice it does make them less rare not even including things that boost rates just the fact that you can have 15 pokemon spawned at once without battling any of them makes it so much more likley to find one without even trying the 1/4096 does not mean a whole lot when you can encounter over 100 a min
@@OtisClucksay that to the boxes of shinies I have in Shield, Legends Arceus, and Violet.

I thought you’d be mentioning how they are probably shiny locking legendaries to make people play Pokémon Go to get them, considering how they locked old legendaries in SV.
I heard that they did it to “Prevent people from cheating in order to get certain shinies.”
Well that backfired
The number of “legit” shinies you can get on the GTS very much undermine that XD
@@DragmiredrawsSo much so that we now have a separate category called “legal” because the hacked Pokémon can fool the system by being a duplicate of a legit pokemon.
Except it DIDN’T backfire since we know for a fact what Pokémon can and can’t be shiny so it’s very easy to tell if it’s fake or not lmfao.
I and V Unown… huh? That’s spooky if coincidence. But everything Unown is.
I want to tackle some of the arguments in favor of shinylocking
The main one is for Pokémon that are either in the overworld or in cutscenes as not shiny. This rule has been broken several times, most recently in BDSP where literally nothing is locked, but also in Let's Go, Ultra Sun/Moon (where all the ultra beasts have cutscenes but aren't locked) and the Crown Tundra (where the Swords and the Regis weren't locked, but the galarian birds were)
Let's Go is an interesting case, which ties into the Snorlax example.
I think this is a much more believable reason than the "cutscene consistency" argument
Also Cosplay Pikachu has shiny models that are totally unused
I can't really say much for the rest of the points made, but I'm pretty sure BDSP didn't have shiny locking because they're "faithful remakes" of games made before shiny locking was a concept.
SwSh's Regis didn't show up in the overworld or in cutscenes, you just interacted with the statues and it triggered the battle.
Yeah, the cutscene excuse is mostly there to let GF get away with their capitalistic shenanigans imo.

I really love these videos where Maxill is a lot more present! Love the back and forth interactions!
Umm.... Did I just witness a shiny Drifloon whisk a child away at 6:20 ?!?! 😱
Yup they just didn’t want to come up with a good solution as to why the already misplaced legendaries could then be a different color

This
@@Dragmiredraws The same reason why Dexit happened; to make the idea of more things being available as an event or DLC marketable.
This is most likely the case as whenever they previously bought back returning legendaries they kept them out of the overworld (Hoopa portals, Ultra Warp Ride, Dynamax Adventures) and they were able to be shiny there and it would explain why they kept doing it that way
If this is the case why don’t they just tell us this?

I relate to this so much lol
I'm surprised you didn't even touch on Gamefreak locking all legendaries, including ones previously not shiny locked even just a generation ago
at this point, I'm surprised that they still Shiny lock the Titan Trio. shiny Galar Zapdos is just an angry Chocobo, and I want it.
Facts
@nataliecoronado4206 Huh uh, that's telling the player how to play, if I wanna soft reset a shiny starter, by god I'm gonna do so, and being told, "oh well you can breed instead", like breeding and soft resetting are the same thing, it shows you've completely missed the point.

I think in the case of some legendary Pokemon they became shiny locked so the shiny versions could exist as separate Pokemon, like how Black Rayquaza is a thing in the anime and with Genesect there were 5 created while on just happened to get red plating and grey eyes.
The only good reason for shiny locking Pokémon I can think of is if the Pokémon is literally uncatchable, like the trial mons in Sun and Moon for example
Game Freak's dedication to shiny locking is higher than their dedication to making good shinies
I guess they don't show them because they are ugly XD
I don’t fully remember the details as of how, but during the tail end of 5th gen I got a shiny Meloetta. I think it was a friend over dA chat that had it either hacked or glitched in and of all thing they wanted for it, they wanted a Bidoof named Jésus.
So, now, locked on my closely guarded copy of Pokémon White is a shiny that should not exist but does
So outside of that Meloetta, the event shiny Gyrados in Silver and later SS, and a copy of deliver I he commissioned to have that games Pokédex shiny…
I haven’t caught one naturally, in the wilds of all the regions of Pokémon… karma?
THANK YOUUUUUU! I’ve been saying all this for like a year and my friends never stfu about it!
I’d be so fun if your rival had the ability to have a shiny Pokémon, maybe make the odds for them specifically lower then the default, and then the game would keep the tag for the rest of the game

My son loves green espeon. He told me if he ever got a female green espeon, he would name her mint.
Like the returning legendaries in scarlet and violet's dlc THAT WE HAD TO PAY FOR are shiny locked
The Master Ball being able to fail is a misconception. It cannot fail in any way, it simply overrides the catch formula for the Pokémon entirely.
The real question is why they don’t shiny lock special non catchable Pokémon like the tutorial wild Starly in BDSP or Juniper’s Minccino and Cinccino in BW and BW2
Dying at “Advanced moonwalk spin!” 🤣🤣🤣
I was just thinking I could use a new Lockstin video
Meh, not really. Shiny hunting during an story-relevant part of the game just ruins the story.
Don’t try to hide the fact you were having a date with yourself.
I am surprised you haven't included a "Praise Helix" reference in your sponsor segment yet 😂
I mean, locking them just makes the event ones more special.
@@toumabyakuyaNope, the event ones are trash.
There are Squakabilly on your character’s house on SV, and they gave the game a patch to shiny lock them. I didn’t even know they were catchable, so, the mons they choose to shiny lock doesn’t seem consistent to me
@@GothAtheist No, no they are not. They are exactly the same ones you could get via hunting if that was possible.
Man I've missed out on so many shiny events and events in general.
Not really. Events aren't events anymore, now it's just a scratch card given away at gamestop for nothing of true value.
DAAAAM THIS SPONSOR SEGMENT HAD A SMOTH TRANSITION just like the biggest sponsor of our boy: Helix!!!
Gamefreak have said that one reason for shiny locking legendaries is that fighting a legendary pokemon is meant to be a special moment and that reseting for hours ruins this special moment, which is a very stuoid reason
Shiny Hunting: Earning
Shiny GameFreak Giveaways: Handouts
Anyone else find it wierd that the player 2 pokemon colors in Pokken Tournament DX are not the shiny colors?
”create a problem then sell a solution” is one of extremely shitty practices GF been infamous for, sadly
