Love the fact that a woman who was natural and imperfect was a muse to such great artists.

Pattie Boyd-Harrison-Clapton has always taken so much grief over her appearance but she truly was the epitome of 60's blond hair blue-eyed beauty! She and Marianne Faithful were nearly bookends to the music scene in those days. And leave her teeth alone! Remember model Lauren Hutton? The gap in her teeth was her trademark! I loved Pattie's photography and her book "Wonderful Tonight" is outstanding!

Egg Boi .......seriously? The models of this generation *weren’t* all Botox, Liposuction etc. so I fail to see how they were “pumped up”. These days, if you have surgically-filled lips (or even implants in them) and a backside resembling the back of a bus, you’re set. No thanks.

Linda Jones nope modern models very much are normal people as the modern thing is to embrace yourself, that's why we have obese models and everything whereas models in the 70's-00's were the plastic models

@@tinaholman956 I have also read her brilliant and very moving book. I have also read that women who can't/have difficulty conceiving are twice as likely as other women to have been sexually abused. Poor Pattie left home because she couldn't face being under the same roof anymore with her nightmare stepfather. We know he physically abused her. I wonder what the betting is that he also sexually molested her. She has faced many trials and is still going strong. Bless her.

Excellent song, and it doesn't always get the attention it deserves. The arrangement is just amazing, particularly when you hear it thru headphones. George plays so much on this track - 12-str acoustic guitars, the electric gtr arpeggios, clavinet, and those AMAZING slide parts - and it's all done so tastefully, without cluttering the sound. George and Pattie made such a cool couple. Beautiful minds, beautiful people.

Pattie is the reason why i accept my "weird beauty",i also have crooked teeth and when i saw her pictures i thought: "I'm not the only one, tooth isn't so important on women's beauty. Pattie is beautiful and even with her unconventional teeth,George loved her anyways." The same reason why John loved Yoko, they didn't care about beauty but love itself. I've spent my whole life hiding my smile, but when i saw Pattie,i started to be proud of myself and nowadays i smile without any fear.

    • @philswolf
      @philswolf 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

...you're absolutely right...unless your teeth are completely crooked - and you suffer from it - leave them as they are...same goes for the breasts...(I personally hate to see (and feel!) the standard "lifted" nipples") - go for natural !!!...like Cara Delevigne, Georgia Mae Jagger, Madonna, Lauren Hutton, Brigitte Bardot - (for the teeth, the breast I don't know !) - a woman too perfect looks like she needs nobody...(Romain Gary)...a beauty with slight flaws looks more vulnerable - and what gets the testosterone flowing like a (perceived) call for comfort ??? ...I think that is a good part of the appeal of a girl like Patty, who's very attractive to me...and for all who emit those "sour grapes" remarks about how horrendous her teeth are, I wonder if they would resist very long at her fascinating grace and frailty....
      With love...

A flaw in teeth is what makes one unique and have a beauty all it's own. Look at Brigette Bardot, with the very crooked front teeth and overbite. And she was the sexiest thing during the late 50's and 60's. If everyone was classic perfect i.e. Barbie and Ken, it would be a very dull and boring world.

"So Sad" is a song by English musician George Harrison, released on his 1974 album Dark Horse. Harrison originally gave the song to Alvin Lee, guitarist and singer with Ten Years After, who recorded it, as "So Sad (No Love of His Own)", with singer Mylon LeFevre for their 1973 album On the Road to Freedom. Harrison wrote "So Sad" in New York in 1972 and it is the only song known to have been written by him about the failure of his first marriage, to Pattie Boyd.
Harrison recorded his version of the song at the couple's home, Friar Park, in November 1973, eight months before Boyd left him for his friend Eric Clapton. Besides Harrison's extensive contributions, the other musicians on the recording include Nicky Hopkins and Ringo Starr.

All the photos I saw of you before this were gorgeous & perfect and just a bit out of touch with my reality. This imperfection is relatable and real. Among all these commentators, who is perfect? A flaw on a beautiful face is like a chance for humanity. Marilyn Monroe had a tiny beauty mark on her lip, which made her beauty approachable for the fans who adored her. What a wonderful, thoughtful and originally entertaining video! Pattie is so rarely seen in The Beatles' film clips, but she was a young, exciting and true beauty of the Swingin' 60's London who, unlike any of the other Beatle 'Women' before or since, was an admired & popular 'trend-setter' among the teenage girls in Britain at the time. This video compilation captures the whirlwind lifestyle she must have had, as she gracefully glided through it, all wispy beauty and eloquence of presence, 'Beatle Wife' or not. And for the years they had together, Pattie was the perfect companion George needed at that period in his life. Thanks for all that footage that I may have never seen if not for your video, great job!

I lost a lot of respect for Eric Clapton after I heard about the way he treated women in general, and particularly after years of his "unrequited" love or whatever you want to call his obsession with Patti while she was married to George--once he got her, she just wasn't all that important to him anymore. Now that sounds like a little boy's approach to loving and/or courting women. Still, I feel for him over the tragic loss of his young son.

Pot was recreational and ,for many of us, we did away with drinking as much. The problem with the 60s is that our memories of that time have never been clear lol. It's been documented that George was doing a lot of cocaine at the time their marriage was breaking down. Patti has said that there were times George wouldn't speak to anyone, only chant. He has admitted to chanting until his jaw hurt so that may be true. The bottom line is he met and married the woman who was perfect for him, the lovely Olivia who gave birth to George's heir Dhani. Patti didn't have an easy time with E.C. he cheated within a week of their wedding. It's in his book. Nobody's perfect, life is for learning. I hope they are all happy now.

We spoiled our kids not wanting them to go through our tougher experiences and failed to show them to appreciate natural and normal everyday things. Even in the 80s this was already taking shape although not as bad as today. Parents are just as bad trying to be "young", and becoming their kids friends instead of good, caring yet firm ones.

I don't know if Ms. Boyd purposely shuns the media, but I always thought someone like Oprah or Ellen DeGeneres should have done a couple of shows exploring her life and her influence on two of the most famous musicians in rock and roll history. Pattie Boyd was the inspiration for George Harrison's most recorded song,' Something' and Eric Clapton's 'Layla' and 'Wonderful Tonight'. I read her autobiography when it was first released but don't recall her being interviewed on any TV shows at least in the U.S. I'm sure she's one person that children of the 60's would love to see more of.

I take a strong dislike to Eric Clapton after reading his book. He never learned to keep a deal, not only to women but his band mates, starting with the Yardbirds. This pattern continued until he got famous enough to go on his own. Delaney and Bonnie put him upfront in their band, introducing him to American audiences and he thanks them by abruptly quitting just as he had every band before. Giving notice is different than walking out. Going behind Pattie’s back with a brood mare was despicable. Karma bit him firmly in the ass.

He didn’t say an unkind word, maybe, but my impression was that he tried to brush the feelings he had for her under the carpet, almost as if they weren’t as intense as they were. Almost as if you were trying to please the current wife? Like cat Stevens saying Wild World wasn’t about Patti D’Bonville. Now, it’s not about her, it’s “about him”. Yeah, right.

Agreed, Santa Monica Miguel. Research the true story, George was unfaithful to Patty first but after 8-years of marriage, they were not connecting, anymore, especially after going to India - George became very introspective and existential. He was best man at Patty and Eric's marriage and they called themselves, 'husbands-in-law'. George went on to find another soulmate, Olivia Trinidad Harrison, who was devoted to him, until he died. Both Patty & Olivia were not typical groupies, in that they were remarkable women. Patty Boyd (now 70 and has had tours of her photography, some of the Beatles, never before seen) just remarried in 2015 to her longterm boyfriend, Rod Weston (61). Alls well that ends Well!
