Ya s
In Junko’s defense, dude told her to smash it like 10 times. He said it so much, I thought she was going to break it in the office.
I did legitimately think that was what he was telling her to do until he started talking about how important it was to him.
A classic case of "Instructions unclear"
It was so sad
“JUNKO! I meant smash the mood, not my guitar!”
I re-watched the scene and it feels more like he was being metaphorical. But I can see how she was confused.
The two metal heads in the crowd from the first ep are basically every fan of the series
True
So accurate. This scene (that popped up in my TH-cam feed) made me curious enough to watch the first episode. Was addicted from the second episode and binged up until now in a couple of days and am now constantly rewatching these clips.
I relate to those guys stupidly hard, to the point where I wonder if that was a deliberate move by the writers.
@@idixal1836 I assure you it was.
Lol yup

Kotaro: I DIDNT MEAN THAT LITERALLY! ☹️😫
Exactly, I was in need 🥺 ❤️

Amen
Sakura & Co.: You have our support!
Kotaro: And my axe!
Junko: *Smashes guitar*
Kotaro: MY AXE!!!!
Tae Yamada: *incoherent drum noises*
To be fair, he phrased it very very badly. I understood he didn't meant it that way, but Junko took it very seriously, since he usually is very... special in that regard.
Kotaro meant it metaphorically and she took it literally
I was honestly surprised the guitar lasted as long as it did. When he said "smash it" I expected it to get broken right when he handed it to her
@@gregsimoes8645 Yeah I thought that too, and then I was like, okay she got it ri- Nope. She didn't...
Junko's speaking voice be like "Nice to meet you, ma'am!"
Junko's singing voice be like "Your daughter calls me "mommy" too."
Truth!
I love when Junko and Lily sing together. Their voices just work so well together, it's unreal.
Junko introducing herself to Ai's mom be like:
@@liellahead And then this poor woman gets really confused why all those idols are in her house, and one of them looks and sounds like her dead daughter.
More likely ''your mom calls me mom'' that would make much sense.
Fun fact: Kawase Maki (Junko’s VA) actually learned to sing pretty late in her life because someone told her it would make her more likely to get hired as an actor. She learned to sing as a BONUS. If it wasn’t for casting statistics, that insane voice would have never reached its potential. That’s just insane to me.
I kinda wish she had more solos. I really like her voice
I never knew this, I love her voice it's soo like rich. I think about it and this song sm. I wish she showcased her vocals more tbh
It was nice to see that their OG fans always show up to their concerts, it was also nice to see Lily’s dad in the crowd

They don't call her the legendary Tae for nothing
The legendary drummer. Maybe she's a cavewoman and that's why she's such a pro at percussion but can't speak.
@@LaMortDeLaMusique The running theory is that she was some kind of brain-damaged even before she was a zombie.
Couldn't help but think on Animal from The Muppets during this scene...
There are several theories. One states she may have been a victim of the christian prosecution of japan. Her day to day clothes look like a nun's habit and her pajamas look like prison clothes. Her limbs are the more loose one of all the girls, this maybe be because she was dismembered during her execution. Another leading theory is that she was a victim of early days psychiatry, again with the prison pajamas, she may have been a victim of electroshock and lobotomized during her life before eventually ending her own life by suicide. This would explain her being the one with less noticeable scars when the rest have all the obvious damaged caused by their demise. Her loose limbs may be a consequence of her body used for medical research afterwards
@@gantzllat yikes...thanks for the info...except now I wanna cry for my best girl.
Tae is surprisingly well coordinated for still being a zombie.
What did you expect, she is the *legendary tae*
Drummer Tae she is!..Grand Legendary Status!
@_ scüp doubtful she was a drummer. her normal dress attire seems old like she might be the oldest zombie there (Yugiri is from the late 1800s i believe so that's saying something)
She's got a lot more going on than everyone realizes.
Right now I'm 50/50 on Tae being always is and always was exactly as she is now vs. in the FINAL, absolute last episode she becomes "conscious".
Props to the animator who did the beginning drum solo. I know that wasn't easy to make.
Could be mo cap? Nice solo
They used the drummer Senri Kawaguchi movements. She's one of the best drummers in Japan and I also know her since she started making K-ON covers. I'm very proud of her ~
It looks like they used CG for her so I guess it wasn't as hard as it usually is.

Makes you wonder what kind of performance Iron Frill gave that they weren't completely overwhelmed by the magical lightning vocaloid heavy metal zombies.
To be fair, I doubt any idol group could follow a group glowing and somehow creating their own SFX while on stage 🤣
@@NewHellraiser that is the power of Iron Frill.
The group had been performing for at least 10 years, must have classics and one of their stars already got zapped by lightening. Can't really expect a team of elite top tier producers to lose to Kotaru' s inexperience.
Franchouchou are still a pretty niche group in contrast to Iron Frill which is a popular idol group that’s existed for at least 10 years so people are going to be naturally inclined to be skewed towards Iron Frill unless they’re someone who’s been following Franchouchou from the very beginning like the Metalhead guys. If anything the fact that Franchouchou was able to gain Iron Frill’s respect to the point of considering them competition says a lot about how much of an impact their performance had and I only imagine having Franchouchou’s name being broadcasted on national tv by a well known idol group is only going to bolster Franchouchou’s reputation and popularity
Keep in mind that the audience were, with the exception of Franchouchou's most loyal, there to see Iron Frill.
What surprises me is the voice tone of Junko’s seiyuu, when she sings is like a different person
She's got some impressive range. Watch Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear. She voices the main character in that.
Yup her voice is really deep when she sings, and it's absolutely amazing
I LOVE Junko’s voice, she’s like a tiny lion, she looks small and adorable but she’s still a lion ya know?
I actually love that so much about her voice. If you consider she was from the 80s where casual sexism on idols was possibly even more widespread than it is today, it's no wonder she kept her voice this low when she talked and saved the "powerful" version of it for her job.
@@AKHTS It isn't necessarily about sexism, some people just have different voice range when they talk and sing. Some singers I know are like that, they don't fake their talking voice, it's just like that naturally. High pitch when talking, low when singing or vice versa.

As a drummer for a Thrash Metal band myself, I gotta say, I'm impressed on how accurate the animators made Tae's drum solo (Although some small parts are kinda slow compared to the audio)
It actually brought tears of joy to my eyes lol
From what someone else said, it is motion capture of Senri Kawaguchi playing. But animating mocap to look that good is an art in itself.
I getcha. I used to play bass for a metal band so I know how awesome it is when an anime studio takes the time to make the motions and hand placements look real.
always good to see that animators are not always completely bullshitting around and actually pay attention to details. Even if most people wont recognize and value them.
@DeludedDesktopAlien nice!
As a guitarist myself, I have to say, the half second cut to Junko hitting the pedal before the chorus brought a tear to my eye. Idk why man it’s the little things that make it feel more real.
every idol anime: cutesy catchy songs
zombieland saga: hey lets do a rock song
Rock, rap, jaz, a capella, you name it...
That’s the difference of Zombieland Saga from other idol anime. To be honest, I don’t like Idol anime much. But this show is completely different. In every idol anime, there is this “following dream” or “prove myself” or “better than my sister” or “my parents won’t allow me” or etc. troupe. And all of the songs have quite the same vibe while in this, the type songs are different in each episodes. And the problems in this anime are much more impactful.
Actually Cinderella Girls, Love Live, Lapis Re:Lights and PuriPara are idol shows which happen to have some metal songs. You can listen to Legne from Cinderella Girls for example, or GOst Coaster from PuriPara even has freaking odd-time signatures and a solo
Love Live, has a few rock songs that i really enjoy. Chase and Dive by Setsuna Yuki which are both featured in the Love Live Nijigasaki anime and there's also Ketsui no Hikari by Mifune Shioriko which is in the mobile game Love Live Allstars. Ketsui no Hikari imo is a great rock song sounds like it should belong as an opening theme to some kinda of Shonen anime lol.
@@CHolik Dive literally has a Stratovarius riff. If that's not metal I don't know what it is
The animators do be stepping up their game tho...
The regular animations have some sloppy animations but the music bits are fantastic
Isn’t a lot of it CG
@@jonnydupe2346 so? Its cg well put together. Looks like they even used some mocap. CG doesn't automatically mean its bad, many studios just do it badly. like what they did in the first season which honestly sucked.

@@kazuyukagami4625 yh its just hard to animate dances especially group ones since its hand drawn that's why almost all idol animes use cgi.
Junko showing why she was top idol in the 80s ❤️
This song was a love letter to the 2 metal heads that never missed a presentation of franchouchou
Heck they even made it to Saki’s spontaneous concert… how they knew where and when? I’m too afraid to ask.
This scene is about on par with the rap battle from season 1 for me. I was going crazy throughout this entire scene. It’s absolute perfection.
Yeah I agree, this has been possibly the best performance in the entire series so far
Junko enjoyers really got served like damn she popped off. You can tell the singer is an actual legend too, the power in her voice gives me chills.
The va actually just learnt how to sing for this role
The Junko solo we’ve all wanted, don’t deny it! This is absolutely perfect, gave me literal chills. I couldn’t have asked for anything more
I mean, she does not have less control over her body than the others, just broken vocal chords and probably a light case of brain damage which explains her animalistic break outs.
When you listen to her you'll noticed that she does not have issues with forming sentences, but that she literally unable to make the right sounds.
The detail in the performance is pretty amazing. It even shows Junko turning off the distortion pedal at the end when the guitar switches from distortion to clear channel sound. The animation of the drum solo is also excellent with Tae pretty much in time with the beats she is playing as well as hitting the correct drum/cymbal. Pretty impressive.

Can we take a moment to appreciate whoever designed those costumes. Best of the series so far (Toukko Dance’s costumes are a close 2nd tho)
I think Junko's VA captured well the type of singing of the period she represents (up to the 80's).
Singers like Mawatari Matsuko (credited on several Yu Yu Hakusho OP/EDs) were known for having deeper voices. And the ones that didn't, still sang on lower octaves and songers were 'calmer' in general.

I really appreciate how the artists pay such attention to the details. The team always does a great job of reproducing the choreography from live actors to the screen, but they took it to a whole other level here. Tae playing the drums look amazing! They obviously are using some method to capture the live movement of a professional drummer, but the amount of frames they used to reproduce the movement in Tae looks spectacular!
