      I agree 💯 It's become offensively laughable the bogus explanations of Latinos in hip hop, undeniably ridiculous. Blacks and Latinos are both urban legends lol 😆 LAST TIME I CHECKED HIP HOP IS THE ULTIMATE URBAN CULTURE FOR REAL!

    Technique is just one of the illest to eva grab the mic... along with Pun. One's ethnicity has nothin to do with the natural or perfected ability to recite the illest quotes behind mics. And those of us who've ascended from African ancestry can't disregard a Latino MC... simply cuz many of the same issues that effects us, also reaches them. For this reason (amongst many others)... Immortal Technique has eternally earned my respect for not just bein an ill poet/lyricist, but for reppin the real.

    HIP HOP's birth place BRONX, N.Y. South Bronx in the 60's,70's,80's was a predominatly Latino neighborhood and one of the poorest in the nation. Right now the BX still has the largest Latino community in NYC. From Dj's,Dance,Graffiti crews and more, We help influence this music. "Young Latino's Don't Sleep". The Music & Movie industry in AMERICA been cutting off talented Latino Americans for decades. We going on 2013 and 95% of the people on Radio and TV are Black & White Americans.

    Coming up in the early 80's. We never said it was a black art. Hip hop was more mixed then it ever was:Latins, Filipinos, whites and blacks... When the pro black movements came along in the mid 80s - PE, X-Clan and others, it became exclusively seen as a black art... Prior to that, It was definitely more universal.

    Latinos/Hispanics are basically mixed race people with Spanish influence. From Native indians,Europeans,Africans etc. Depending on what part of Latin America or Caribbean Island they from, some look Indigenous,some look European,some look African,even Asian or mixed, with all shades of skin color. The word "HISPANIC" is used by the US government to idenitify them. "Divide and Conquer".

Of course Hip Hop is black music/culture but Latinos specially Puerto Ricans from NY. didn't jump on it after it was already created it, they been a part of it since the beginning...and besides now a days it isn't the blacks that support Real Hip Hop of course there's plenty that do but its mostly Hispanics,whites, and people overseas the ones that are....

    @KnoThyself Greek and Latin are two different languages. I know that Romans spoke Latin. I think Latino refers to those of European orgin with laguages based on Latin (Brazilians are Latino, but speak Portuguese; not sure if Creole, of French orgin, can be considered Latino).

  • @maldonadojustin
    @maldonadojustin 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    @breezwonder rather...Bam is to Hip-Hop what Johnny Pacheco is to Salsa...both terms were umbrella terms created to describe multiple creations that united them. this is why folks today dont know the difference between a son, a guaguanco, a charanga...they just call it salsa...while in hip hop, its the opposite, people dont associate graph + b-boying with Hip Hop at all...ur in full public view calling Hip Hop a musical art form...despite graphitti being a non-musical art form

  • @LAMindState
    @LAMindState 13 ปีที่แล้ว

    actually people should give a fuck,but shouldnt use it as some type of catalyst to judge and feel better than another individual or ethnicity..hip hop (like all modern music,in some form) originally gets its roots and influence from africa,just like humanity itself...wich is actually alot of what tech refers to sometimes when talking 'indigenous' that doesnt just apply to the peoples of the americas,he understands african culture and history just as much as 'latin' americas

    Hip-hop was created by blacks with some influences and contributes from Latinos(which are, in turn, significantly Afro-Latino). I am willing admit that, but to suggest that Latinos helped Blacks create hip-hop is wrong. In those days, latinos who could pass off as white didn't stay in the ghetto. The ghetto was hugely made up of Blacks, Latinos of African descent and some Irish.

      What? Dj Charlie chase was no afro-Rican, and neither was Crazy Legs, or Dj disco wiz. Watch videos of the 70s. Those living 9n south Bronx were Ricans of all skin tones and blood. Most ricans are mixed with Native American (Taino), European (mainly Spanish, French, Portuguese or Italian), and African. We know our culture and we've tested our DNA. To say that ONLY afro-ricans lived on the ghetto, and that the light skinned ones that passed as "white ones" moved out is crap. Have you seen Fat Joe and J-Lo's parents. We could sometimes get mistake for Italian. We dont claim just one ethnicity, (spanish,African, native american, etc). We just say we're boricua or puerto rican. Watch any documentary taken from that time, in the South Bronx and you will see many spanish looking dudes in the ghetto, not just blacks or afro-ricans.

Bambaataa named it hip hop to describe THE culture, the music of DJs ( which is an ARTFORM ) , rapping ( which is an ARTFORM) , the dancing of b-boys and b-girls ( which is an ARTFORM) , and graffiti art ( which is an ARTFORM) Latinos ( specifically Puerto Ricans ) were involved from the START..Bam did NOT CREATE the art of b-boying or graphitti.

    "what would salsa be without the conga drums or percussion " It goes w/o saying as Caribbean music(such as salsa) and ppl are of Afro ancestry. Where do you think slaves in the American Traingular slave trade were imported thru? Like celia Cruz says, "La negra tiene tumbao". Quit being so sensitive and racist IT's mother is black. The simple fact is that they do their thing with an overwhelming Latino, and Spanish bent and you need no reparations for that.

    @breezwonder But as umZulu I warn you to be careful not to name hip-hop as mono-race based. The thing is, in my country kwaZlulu, South Africa, our grand parents say rap is nonsense because they used hip-hop to teach moral tales. Yeshua was an Afrisian in body but the thing is, when He was crucified, He died for all races. Take it from (not black any more but) an Afrisian. We need peace man. Sure:)

    "Black" people are the innovators of Hip hop period. Everyone else just adopted hip hop. Don't get me wrong, there's allot of bad asses in hip hop who I enjoy but don't act like other people besides "black" people had a role in it's beginnings because they didn't.

      Apparently you have never been to the South Bronx. Its now and was 75 percent Hispanic. You telling me it started in the South Bronx among 75 % Latinos and we had nothing to do with it?

      Henny Lopez There's a lotta bullshit circulating about how Hispanics played a part in the creation of hip hop ... UTTER BULLSHIT . The origins of hip hop lay in Africa so Hispanics had nothing to do with it. "Rapping can be traced back to its African roots. Centuries before hip hop existed, the griots of West Africa were delivering stories rhythmically , over drums and sparse instrumentation. Such connections have been acknowledged by many modern artists, modern day "griots", spoken wor artists, mainstream news sources, and academics" I don't hate Hispanics and I don't mind Hispanic rappers but stop trying to take credit and steal our culture , you don't see black people going around taking credit for Hispanic culture so ENJOY HIP HOP BUT KNOW YOUR PLACE.

      BRICKZCR0 The hell are you talking about? Nobody is talking about that Africa shit. We talking about Hip Hop here. It started in the south Bronx. Look up any video with any pioneer and they all say the same, Hip Hop was started in the Bronx by Black and Latin kids. So you know more than Afrika Bambada, Kool Herc, Krs1? All who were there and you weren't. Look up any old footage of Hip Hop and best believe Latinos are there, either break dancing or graffiti or DJing or something. You sound ignorant and salty, do some real research, I'm assuming you're like 19 and probably from the south or midwest or suburbs so I'll give you a pass on it.

      Henny Lopez get the fuck outta here with that bullshit , latin kids just happened to b around when it was created they had nothing to do with its creation ... There's absolutely no element in latin culture to even suggest that Hispanic people had anything to do with the invention of hip hop , Hispanics love jacking shit look what you did with reggae you jacked that shit from black people and called it reggaeton fuck outta here you don't see black people taking credit for tacos burritos and all that shit so stfu

      BRICKZCR0 Idiot reggae is what started Hip Hop. And its not reggae its dancehall. Kool Herc a Jamaican went back to Jamaica and saw what they were doing down there and brought it back to the states. So if we jacked reggae with reggaeton then black niggas jacked it also. Dog learn your history. I know more of your so called black culture then you do. The fuck are you like 13 or something. Pretending like you know shit lol, what an idiot.

    I think Chino XL and Latinos are getting Creation and Contributions confused when It comes to HIP HOP. Hip Hop is a solely Black Musical art form created by Kool Herc and Africa Bambatta in 1972. Latinos gave LATER contributions!
