  • I was on my way further north and stopped off in Goole to break my journey, fill up the car with fuel and fill me with a full English breakfast. While there we did a little shopping and this is a short film of my driving in the pleasant town of Goole.
Tell me what you think of the voice over.

Yes Goole is in East Yorkshire now and I believe it was Humberside once. I like Google, and I must visit again one day.

@@WelshRob1964 yes Goole is in the East Yorkshire and yes it was changed to north Humberside for some time but when writing letters people still used east Yorkshire it must have cost alot of money for the council to change it to North Humberside then back to East Yorkshire l don't know why they changed it in the first place from east yorkshire to north Humberside

@@Craftyeastyorkshirelass I have no idea why they move boundaries, its something that happens a lot I think, its no wonder civil administration costs so much in the UK.

Goole of course was always in the West riding of Yorkshire until it was abolished in the early 70's Goole came under North Humberside 'till that too went ,& we ended up under the aegis of a council that calls itself the East riding . Riding means one of three & as the other 2 no longer exist it's a pointless title .I personally just use East Yorkshire in my address ,the East riding is a place north of the river Ouse, check point Charlie being Boothferry bridge which was not built untlil the late 20's .👎

Very interesting, I came up here long after the name change. My address still comes up as Humberside lol. Nice place Goole I think.

Of course North Humberside was equally a rather misleading title for Goole ,the Humber stops where the Ouse & the Trent join well downstream of Goole which is on the south bank of the Ouse ! Goole was a very interesting place up to the 70's when the docks were a hive of activity ,bridge street in particular ,seems dead now ! Lots of folk were employed by the railways too , not now ,seems like a different place to those who can still remember back then .
