It would be cool to see him face off against Ding, though I think it would have the same outcome as with Ian. Ding also made too many mistakes and had trouble with time management. Ding is one of my favorite players ever but there is no doubt in my mind that Ding would be suffering against Magnus. And I really think all of this speaks volumes to the level that Magnus is on. The switching of the camera angle from the main shot being somewhat level with the board and with digital view in the center, then to the close up overhead without the digital view was really frustrating and hard to keep oneself oriented. Lost all perspective each time it did that. It was dizzying.

its insane how mentally fucked Hikaru is against Magnus. Surely, with such a winning position and being probably the best blitz player in the world he wins this game. I think the fact that he even took time to think on the move dxe6+, which is such a natural move, makes it look like he gets in his own head specifically against Magnus. Im sure Magnus showing up late adds its own mental stacks as well.

This is a psychological game from Magnus. Getting late, makes the opponent impatient and getting them furious. When he arrives, opponent is already not thinking about the game. Chess games needs to have a proper rules. Example if the game starts 12:00, everyone should be there on time. If they’re late, 5min wait. After 5 minutes don’t start the clock, you have to disqualify the guy.
