Nah, he was considered trash on release, i remember being joked on by people because i mained him day 1. How the tables have turned.
Which I feel like it's exaggerated, he's been strong ever since his first buff, but he hasn't been top 1 all the time since then

I've actually come to love the a.b.a Asuka match-up. his fireballs are so slow and ez to parry, and her low-profile dash goes under so many of his cubes it's not even funny. I literally play patient and wait for the cubes so he gives me moroha and explodes
I don't even play GG Strive but the way you structured your video with all of the information breakdown made it super fun to watch. Keep it up, LK!

every character in smash is top tier since a character is trash until someone wins a major with them
I mean complaining about playing against the best characters in games is a bit strange to me because why use worse characters if your trying to play competitively (i get it when you play uncompetitively like me). It’s like playing a boardgame and not doing the best move possible. Of course it’s cooler when you win with a non meta character but does that matter if you want to win.

Because the current smash top tiers are not healthy for the game and are some of the least fun characters to fight
@guava9343 sounds like they just don't want to get good. Lordknight goes and analyzes his matches and prepares to fight against the best characters in the game. Meanwhile smash players cry on Twitter and don't even theorize or do anything else to fight against the top tiers. Maybe if they stopped complaining and actually put in the time and effort to learn those characters and learn their bad matchups, maybe it wouldn't be so bad, but that's too hard for smash players apparently 💀

funny how in this game, heavy characters are not bottom tier like any other game. Even Potemkin is Scary.
Potemkin is still bottom tier, being scary does not change that. Same for bedman

nagoriyuki is an outlier because he functions very differently from a traditional heavyweight and goldlewis is being hardcarried to top 3 by WWA which you just know will get ubernerfed
Yeah they are trying to make heavies good. Obv WWA pushes GL but even without it he's an easy top 7 pick imo.

Playing aba a lot recently has me thinking about burst a lot, similar to what you’re talking about at the end with Goldlewis. I structure my Aba gameplan around generally burst/win first round or at least take their burst, usually struggle second round and hold burst no matter what unless I have a win secured. And then secure the 3rd round with a burst. It’s made hard mu’s like axl/hc/bridget/faust/asuka a lot more winnable. It maybe Aba cope on my end since I’m a believer but I think very precise bursting and jr meter management makes nearly any matchup winnable as burst is always an opportunity to win with Aba so long as you have meter to install with.

So, question: Would you say that against Goldlewis, it's important "not to respect him too much?" I've heard this phrase in other fighting games moreso than in guilty gear, but I was wondering if it might apply, based on what you said.

Do you have any videos where you explain your plan for learning characters/matchups in a general sense? I'm trying to learn but tbh it's hard for me to improve without a "roadmap" and I've just been grinding out matches in a trial by fire sort of way.
I just started learning the game and I am trying to play Nago, HC and zato and I didn't even know how strong Nago is until I sat in lab for like 15 mins

I do think the moment you have lost faith in Baiken and did pick Testament was a way to show weakness to your enemy. This gave him confidence to take that game. To take Baiken again vs a "loosing matchup" and to take it as a win its a great expression of skill and composure. Congrats on winning the tournament!

Chaos was heavily nerfed multiple times since. Still high-ish tier, but he's way harder to play consistently.
he got a really, REALLY big nerf last patch and hes been whittled down over the years by smaller nerfs, hes not that big of a competitive threat rn
No one forgot about chaos, he's still a threat in tournaments

LK is my fav FG content creator because of these types of in-depth, analytical videos. I mostly play for fun and I don't really study that hard when playing, but the insight you provide into your own thought process, how you build your characters and how you form opinio is really really helpful.

Unless you win grand finals you will always be called mid. A pro bench warmer is still cream of the crop, but no one will recognize the context.

White wild assault kinda feels cheap sometimes (this is coming from a goldlewis player). It’s so annoying when you have someone go through everything and anything with little risk. The only thing you can do is dodge or grab it which is hard.
The thing that bugs me with WWA is the hitbox increase.

I wonder how long competitive Strive will last and how far we get into counterpick meta. For now counterpicking is a choice because characters like Sol Leo Nago May exist who you can absolutely comfortably solo main
Drop Nago’s damage and I think he’d be less egregious... some of those catches in this video were insane given the low amount of effort and extremely high amount of health he took off. Even 5% would make a huge difference.

Really wish you had more of clips from the tournament matches that you are going over in the video, instead of mainly training mode recreations. Very good breadown, but lacking visually.
Unfortunately most of the run was not on stream, I had to do it this way for the previous one as well.

Goldlewis really isnt the biggest threat imo, hes a very powerful character, easily top 3 but there arent too many people who play him competitively because they know his top 3 status will only last as long as current WWA lasts, which you know wont be long. Most lewis competitors you see have stuck with the character for an extended period of time and will still stick with him after the inevitable nerfs.
This is straight up wrong lol so many Goldlewis in finals lately. He’s gotten buffed almost constantly and I don’t see them reversing course. The best copium you can have is that everyone else power creeps him and Arksys leave him alone.
@@cameronrramos goldlewis changes have always been doublesided, think of the fs nerf, the drone nerf, the thing that pushed him from high-mid tier to top tier was wwa, nothing else and wwa will obviously get absolutely destroyed next balance patch
