What an amazing coincidence for this to be uploaded now. I've been attempting to rationalize and remember this just recently. Asking myself at what point in my life did I start re-presenting the world and trying to make sense of everything all the time. When I get close to remembering or imagining what it was like before that, it gives a very sweet and warm nostalgia.

Dr. McGilchrist - thank you for posting these clips. They make me want to go back and read The Master and His Emissary again, because I feel like these really help me appreciate the book even more. And I can't wait for your new book wherever and whenever it comes out.

One of the best summations of his thought. I was thinking of Wordsworth as well.

What are some things young people could do to not fall into this trap?

It is their parents and teachers who have to prevent the trap - a child should have no contact with abstract thought up until the change of teeth and then until puberty should be focused on good habits and rhythms - from puberty full focus on learning abstract and crititcal thinking should begin. There are some schools in the world who follow this path - some consciously and others unconsciously. You just have to look for them.
